Space Station 13 is a game that you're not going to understand unless you play. It's not a game you can learn by watching or reading, and it is a game you certainly won't master in your first day, week or month. Space station 13 is one of the most insane experiences of my life, a game that has occupied my time for over a decade now. Space station 13 is the roguelike of roguelikes for me, the most wonderful piece of human created madness, and certainly on equal footing with dwarf fortress in terms of sheer complexity. Please join in as I embark again, for just another day on space station 13.

When I saw antgas in the title I thought had something to do with antagonists gassing the station or something, not God damned ANTS IN GASEOUS FORM.

Dude, I cant thank you enough for recommending Kruggsmash. I have binged watch his videos, enjoyed all of it and started playing dwarf fortress again after learning a few things from his tutorial vid, it's going so much smoother now.

Watching engineering makes me wonder if SS13 was designed at first to be a perfect space station simulation, or was it always supposed to be a this human chaos experiment.
Fragtastic it was designed to be a space atmospherics simulator first, it just turned into this silliness on its own
For me, this was the shift that got me hooked on hellburns. I dont think i had played for more than a few days yet. Thank you Mr. Checkers for encouraging me to be a good Goongineer. I dont think i would have stepped up and tried to run a hellburn that early if i hadnt had this much fun.

I was still new enough to not know you needed a hardsuit in the engine at this point. Oxygen, yeah, but i was so damn new. Failed miserably at an attempted hellburn the next morning and a couple really awesome guys helped me out for the next few days. I have learned so much.
I may have earned my hellburn certification with your encouragement. Myself and another broke his personal record a few days latèr with a near 210 exawatt burn. Thank you Tex. Couldnt have done it without you.
It may seem like effusive praise, but i believe you've earned it since it gave me motivation (along with a few other very nice people) to throw myself into it in the deep end and just try my ass off to learn something useful in the days and weeks since. Thank you Tex.

We then retrieved some zombies for the testing chamber and started sacrificing crew members to the zombies “for science”. Also any shotgun bill round is just utter insanity

Would be interesting, to see if you could melt the station pumping the engine heat throughout. Could call it an alternate method for engine cooling, use the whole station rather than just the designated zones.

This makes me want to give Goon an honest try. I've been learning engineering on TG, but this seems much more involved than just setting up solars and the SM, and then waiting for something to break to repair, which is what I've learned so far. This, though, this seems cool.
TG engineering is about building your own bunker in space
Tex, your videos always make me think of my own space adventures, which is good for combatting huge depression and myriad health issues. As captain I once married off the HoS to the xenomorph queen in an attempt to peacefully defuse the situation. It worked like a charm. Centcom cut both me and the happy couple down with machine guns on arrival (and everyone else on the shuttle).

That's another problem with TG's SM. You CAN "hellburn" it. Get it to produce more than 5 megawatts and it starts to lightning, but people get soo pissy about it. It doesn't matter we have grounding rods or even using some tesla coils to collect the power, "Ooooh its going to delem, call the shuttle, kill the CE wah wah". It's all well and good to make a garbage chute to the SM for monkeys, kittens and clowns but oooh no, don't want to risk singo'ing the engine. meh.
I guess that is more a problem with the people than the engine when I think about it. I guess its why I play on TG low pop servers more often. Though I HAVE been warming to VG. I am starting to like how they have their SM and the just variety of engines.
I guess you could say Mr. Yeets got...uhhhh...shit.

so question for those who haven't played themselves but love the content/commentary is their a use for hellburns in rounds or is it more of a bragging right thing?

From what I understand, it creates incredible levels of power which translates to stupid amounts of cash through the PTL, or infinite annihilation through hotwiring if you're traitoring it up. It also means you will basically NEVER have power issues, but in that perspective, it's like running a nuclear reactor to keep a lightbulb lit.

So what does the hell burn do exactly? Is it just getting th power all the way up? I know it can blow the station up but what's the intended purpose and stuff you can do with it?

So I'm trying to work out what the point of the hellburn is. Is it actually a thing, or is it more like cargonia making a million credits and building an army because you can? I'm not disparaging it, just trying to understand the different station suicide techniques. So much of that server I don't understand, but I did understand that yeet was amazing.
The Hellburn is an achievement for most Goongioneers.
@@theblackpantslegion So I take that to mean its about as practical as a cargonian SWAT team, but also as fun? Or a few steps above a chemistry meth lab in both fun and impracticability? Pretty cool to see more jobs have that sort of thing, though it sounds like only goon has managed to support that style of shenanigans across the board, all jobs, latecomers, and so on. I really like what I'm seeing of goon, though I get the impression they're also more for the elite players and a completely new player would be an annoyance (even if politely tolerated)?
