The timing of this video is divine. I've been feeling so insecure and constantly kept comparing myself to my bestfriend who is just so beautiful. I felt awful looking at myself and I felt like I wasn't good enough. I never use to compare myself, but started in my 20s, when you ask the Q why (bullying, or parents, etc) you basically hit the nail on the head. For me it was always being the last pick girl in class, but being a kid, and pre-adult thinking innocence I didn’t think much of it. Never been asked out buy guys, ever, and treated either like a ghost, or trash. Had girls tell me I’m ugly in High School, 🤷♀️ Sometimes I wonder if it’s my nose, because it’s aquiline nose (bump), it’s not flattering. Hi Alessia! This video is very timely and i appreciate you sharing your insights on envy and comparison. Although I have struggled with envy growing up and for a long time now, i know my attempts to tend to my triggers and search for answers in understanding why i feel the way i feel i know i have come a long way and have many tiny breakthroughs that makes sense as i grow older. One of the things i would usually read about envy in hopes to overcome it is reading stuff on social media such as “turning envy into inspiration” or “you shouldn’t be envious of your friends” while it sounds ideal it can also register like invalidation and shaming people who feel envy because sometimes we do feel this stuff not by choice and with unawareness and also societal programming. No one really talks about the “HOW” on this sayings and therefore makes those envious more and more feeling inferior and the envied superior and supported. I appreciate your video because you didn’t say it in a way like pushing it down our throats or making the envious feel wrong for feeling so. You indicated practical examples on the HOW and explain why it might help rewire our brains when we found ourselves comparing. Thank you!

Since I was a child , my parents always told me about my flaws, which made me genuinely hate myself so much , like I don’t think you get it . I have never been told I’m nothing but beautiful by outsiders. But guess what I have never ever believed it even once not even as a joke have I believed it. I’m 19 years old I act sooo fake , I act like I think I’m pretty or something reality I always cry myself to sleep because I just want to escape my brain. Everything she posts triggers me 😒Its a deep seated jealousy I've carried into adulthood from emotional trauma in childhood. I really do wish blessings for her and tbh i admire her a lot but it's just that (in my eyes at least) shes always been the prettiest, smartest, funniest, coolest, most fashionable, most out going, most popular and most successful. I thought we had completely different interests, which made me feel at least unique in my own way since her light is so bright it will always dim mine but lately shes been doing things that have always been my interest and she's actually really good at it 😒 not only are you the best at everything else now you have to be the best at the things that I thought that i excelled at. I love her and want to congratulate her on her CONSTANT amazing everything but I always wind up being depressed for a couple of days, so much so that I don't even go on tiktok anymore so that I can avoid her posts, and I've changed my number so that I could be removed from the family group. It's nothing personal I just can't allow anything to steal the little peace that I've worked at so hard... I feel much better just not knowing. I've been binge-watching videos to help overcome jealousy and envy because it's such a nasty spirit, Nothing has really hit me in a profound way.. until you mentioned the flower analogy. A Rose🌹 is really beautiful and unique.. but so is a sunflower🌻 and They're not comparable because they are each individually unique. That really resonated with me so Thank you! ☺️

I used to follow pretty girls who like the same things as me but now I see them as a threat and I compare myself to them. I had to unfollow every single one of them. But social media as a whole is depressing
I felt so insecure I asked a girl how I looked and she told me I was honestly hideous. I've been called ugly my whole life and no one ever told me otherwise so I started to believe it like I get that you must find confidence in yourself and stop caring about what others think but it just feels like you're deluding and lying to yourself.
you may not have the kind of beauty that a lot of people like but the thing is,Alessia said it too,everything has its own beauty. even the smallest things. not everyone will find you pretty and that is totaly okay. even if 1% of the population finds you beautiful,that is still a lot. don't strive for external validation,find it within yourself. love yourself enough,so you can attract people that respect you and find you beautiful.

Since I was a child , my parents always told me about my flaws, which made me genuinely hate myself so much , like I don’t think you get it . I have never been told I’m nothing but beautiful by outsiders. But guess what I have never ever believed it even once not even as a joke have I believed it. I’m 19 years old I act sooo fake , I act like I think I’m pretty or something reality I always cry myself to sleep because I just want to escape my brain. It’s so much going on in my brain I wish I could just take it out. I tried so many things , I’m starting to think maybe I’m cursed like I might live this way or even worse for ever.
I've been struggling hard with envy and comparing to a close relative a LOT lately. Everything she posts triggers me 😒Its a deep seated jealousy I've carried into adulthood from emotional trauma in childhood. I really do wish blessings for her and tbh i admire her a lot but it's just that (in my eyes at least) shes always been the prettiest, smartest, funniest, coolest, most fashionable, most out going, most popular and most successful. I thought we had completely different interests, which made me feel at least unique in my own way since her light is so bright it will always dim mine but lately shes been doing things that have always been my interest and she's actually really good at it 😒 not only are you the best at everything else now you have to be the best at the things that I thought that i excelled at. I love her and want to congratulate her on her CONSTANT amazing everything but I always wind up being depressed for a couple of days, so much so that I don't even go on tiktok anymore so that I can avoid her posts, and I've changed my number so that I could be removed from the family group. It's nothing personal I just can't allow anything to steal the little peace that I've worked at so hard... I feel much better just not knowing.
I've been binge-watching videos to help overcome jealousy and envy because it's such a nasty spirit, Nothing has really hit me in a profound way.. until you mentioned the flower analogy. A Rose🌹 is really beautiful and unique.. but so is a sunflower🌻 and They're not comparable because they are each individually unique. That really resonated with me so Thank you! ☺️
