  • Hello and welcome
This is a new project into my workshop, A car owned by a good customer and friend and previously owned by my line manager and friend.
In a prior life it was a Police escort / protection vehicle. Any additional information would be greatly appreciated.
This series is going to be predominantly about rebuilding the bulkhead which has corroded badly at the top.
    loads of fun
    Enjoy

Enjoyed every minute of it. I used to take dashboards out long time ago, still a pain in the neck.

Love the your work ! .. When chasing water seepage I've filled the cabin area with light in the darkness, blankets over windows etc .. then look for pin holes of light around underneath front sills - floor pans - firewall etc .. keep up the great work from down under, Aus.

Great idea, smoke test also works well in these circumstances. Alas in this case I found the issue with holes that I could push my hand through

Great stuff. Be interesting what you find in the coming days about the car's history.
Our LSE had previous history with RNLI - some rust problems, nothing abnormal, so hopefully it was never actually in the sea. When we got it in 2022, the first powerwash of the underneath resutled in 1/2 a ton of sand on the deriveway :-/ But the car is filled with "extra" wiring and relays, holes in the bumpers, dash and some sort of loudspeaker under the rear. Also fitted with heavy duty polybushes and springs, so am following your previous EAS work to reinstate air on the car this Summer

Those dashes must have been a sod to install quickly on the assembly line!

I think when your job is repetitive and you just do one chunk I can see how they would have been thrown in, not exactly set up to be assembled on the bench and slotted in though

Many moons ago back in the early nineties my wife worked in a nursery that cultivated and grew trees and the owners of the nursery were close friends of Diana princess of Wales.
At the time my wife drove a denim blue range rover on a personalised number plate and quite often if the media got wind of Diana visiting the owners of the nursery they would congregate like shit flies on a turd.
When the wife drove down the road In the morning the paparazzi would jump into the road and start taking photos but we're highly disappointed when she drove past with her index finger pointing skywards.🖕.

I was told that if you have the air bag disconnected and with the battery connected, you will get an airbag light (SRS) light on the dash that cannot be reset without LR software? Horrible job for sure. Thankfully my scuttle was not rusted but is now slathered with POR15.

    • @churchhouseclassics
      @churchhouseclassics  4 месяца назад

always disconnect the battery first even if just for safety. If the system is fault free, or you identified the cause for the srs light and fixed it, reconnecting the battery should see the light extinguish. There are a few folk out there with the appropriate leads for the soft dash classic to read the errors and reset the light.

then it wouldn't be real. I do not swear in polite company but work on my own in the cold. take me too long to cut out the swear words. Many Land Rover owners can appreciate the frustration.
