  • Hello and welcome
About time I got that my poor old Stag up and running again. Primary objective is to turn the car around in the garage so that I can swap out that noisy and leaking diff.
    What can go wrong.
    loads of fun

    Hi Richard
Nice to see the stag out,
Doing the Carbs is no problem for you,
No matter what goes wrong you always get the job done.
    Always watch your projects.
    Steve

In fairness I left the choke in to allow for extra cranking to get the oil pressure up before starting and then got excited at sitting in my Stag again

I feel the pain Richard, I have never had the courage to tap new threads with a drill- clean existing yes, but not new, I have to have that feel and one turn in, 1/2 out etc. after watching your mishap I think I will stick to that. I’m going to assume that tap is well jammed in there now so keen to see if you have any tricks to recover it. Frankly I would be out of options at this point and looking for another carb body….unless there is room to abandon that hole and run another in next to it?
