I think that Paper Mario: The Origami King deserves a spot in this video, imo.
The sniffit city was great, even though I’m not a fan of desert levels I was caught by surprise and also professor toad makes it better
He told me in another video he hasn't played it, but he should So play that game! I've only been playing it for half a year, and still i've played it 45 hours! That's how good i think it is! Nico, please buy paper mario the origami king!
I love the fact that in every 3D Mario Game (except for 3D Land and 3D World) quicksands swallow you like hell, and same with those sand vortexes. But in Mario Odyssey you HAVE to let the quicksand vortex swallow you in order to get a moon. Finally the legend of the hidden cave under the quicksand came true, at least in a Mario Game since it already existed in Zelda

I love how you mentioned stage 2-7 (so many deserty world 2s in these games) from Yoshi's Woolly World. That game is so under-rated and it put a genuine smile on my face to see it featured in one of your videos.
Also, World 6 from SMB2 is another desert world but World 2 did it first & arguably better & didn't have a level that was one gynormous bottomless pit that required albatross hopping to traverse. *smt*

I don't like sand. It's coarse rough and irritating. And it gets everywhere
LOL airing this on Christmas day? This ought be interesting lol. I am with you though, generally I don't like Desert areas because of 1 major thing- Quicksand. Plus the color scheme can be a bit bland too. But there are exceptions.
10. Ug, I am not a fan of World 2 BECAUSE of that blasted sun. Yeah it gave me the creeps too. You can blame this game for the reason why I started hating desert levels.
9. That does look like a fun level! I did enjoy the desert level from Super Paper Mario though, because it combine both the 'old west' and typical desert tropes. Not to mention that the big boss in this area is my fav boss in the game (and one of my fav Mario bosses of all time).
8. I haven't played this game in years (like 20 years) and I remember enjoying the game quite a bit. I know like with the first Mario game you could skip worlds, so I can't remember if I did stay in this world for long.
7. I've thought about getting this game, but due to circumstances (tight budget and other games I wanted more), I never got around to get it. It does look cute though!

3. I asked for this game for Christmas (besides 13 Sentinals, a PS4 game). OH WOW! I can't wait to try this area! Also the timed trap mechanic, oh boy, I hate timed challenges.

I personally hate the desert galaxies, both of them have sand that slows you down when you walk into it. The sand being mandatory to go into makes it worse. Dusty Dune galaxy also has a green star, which means it’s tied for having the most stars in the game. Having to play a level 14 times during a 100% run makes the level feel kind of boring. Also, I always forget where the secret star is. The point is I hate deserts because I always spend so much time in them.
I loved the Slipsand Galaxy as a kid and I still do! One reason is that the music there slaps hard!
Next you should do the level themes but with Mario Kart Tracks

Good list and I definitely agree with the Sand Kingdom being #1. However, I would have liked to see at least one individual level from Super Mario Bros. 2 and 3 on this list instead of just the world as a whole. I personally would have included both the Angry Sun level as well as the Pyramid level in Super Mario Bros. 3 in the top 5. I would specifically include World 2-3 from Super Mario Bros. 2 on this list.
