Ranking ALL 52 Bonus Levels In Super Mario Bros Wonder

- Super mario bros wonder is one of if not the best 2D Mario game ever made, and a large part of that comes down to the game’s level design and wonder flowers. However, even outside of the game’s main levels, its bonus levels are fantastic as well! There are 52 of them and they belong to 5 different categories: Badge challenge, search party, break time, KO Arena, and wiggler race. The quality between these do differ quite a bit though, so today I thought it would be fun to rank every bonus level in super mario bros wonder from the worst to the best!

What I love about the badge levels is how they feel like mini obstacle courses that allow the badge exclusively to shine. I would never use Spring Feet outside a challenge run but timing those percise jumps feels awesome.
For some odd reason, Spring Feet is the recommended badge for Jump! Jump! Jump! even though it makes that course harder.
@@harrybest2041 when you enter the level, sometimes florian says "I wonder what would happen if we used Spring Feet here..." so I gues it's just out of curiosity? Seems odd to recommend it even though it doesn't have any kind of secret associated with beating it using that badge, so just a weird design choice all around.

19:44 this is supposed to teach you to open and close your cap midair to reset your speed, since if you just try floating down from the first time you open your cap you're not going to reach the purple coin. the coins and bubbles are placed in a way to show that, and if you still dont get it a talking flower at the bottom tells you you can open and close the cap, so it's not completely obvious how to get it at first and still provides somewhat of a challenge in both figuring it out and actually performing it
And yet idiots like me still managed to miss that lesson. I ended up getting it by jumping from lower down XD

The best part about the last search party level is that you can take whatever power up you want (minus fire flower) and leave without doing the level to get the power ups.
this is what other mainline mario games need, just a sustainable source to get powerups so the final most difficult challenge can be more manageable (item grinding literally more than doubled my attempt time on champion's road)

Use the 'All Fire Power' badge after clearing Bowser's Rage Stage.
The break time music levels were such a nice callback to many iconic Mario tunes. I would have loved to see more representing other Mario games
I didn’t think to use drill in the search party for 13, so I pulled off the bubble jump, and at the time, I had never done a successful bubble jump. I’m proud of myself!
Another funny thing about the Dolphin Kick 1 challenge is that you instinctively follow the flowers, even after you took their coin. However, they actually take you through unnecessary turns. It's the only reason why I needed 5 tries to 100% this challenge.
it's honestly a miracle 'hurry, hurry' has only taken you 1 million attempts. i still haven't beaten it and it has consumed my life. each waking hour is just trying to perfect my run and collect that last final wonder seed for the sweet release of 100%. my body and mental health have taken a toll and my family won't even speak to me. they'll regret the day they cut me out of their lives

Btw on KO arena with the door enemies, you can use the drill to avoid having to go into the door in the background

Honestly this one was super cool to me since it felt like some Mario maker levels… honestly I feel like many of the extra levels in this game were inspired by MM, which is super cool!
By the way.. with 8:22 you can go under the blocks with the drill

I actually like the search parties and looked forward to them. It was fun interacting with randos trying to solve puzzles. Trying to help others was fun too.

While we take running for granted, there *has* to be some people out there that don't know you can run and kept walking their way through levels. Especially if they came from those Mario fan games made with Flash.

The fact that you ranked KO Arena fungi funk as the lowest while putting sunbaked skirmish as #4 when both of these have their fun decupled when using the drill is insane. The first stage with the boos can be done in one passage with rightly timed grabs and turns. The second stage can also be done in a passage with the drill, avoiding most spikes while jumping off each vine like Tarzan, which makes it super fun and satisfying to go through. The final stage can also be much better with the drill, where you can go under the blocks, avoiding going through the two doors, and increasing your time significantly, while forcing you to keep the drill power up from the previous levels. The final stage isn't great with the drill, the bubble is probably much better, but that forces you to keep a spare bubble, so you can't take damage at all or the run is ruined. Overall, it's a great stage that utilizes the mechanics of the drill really well, and deserves a much higher ranking, especially considering #4.
3:01 it's SO easy, you're able to WALK in order to beat it, albeit with a tight-ish jump near the end.
wall climb 2 was such a blast. i beat it in about 5 minutes on my first time but i also got to witness my friends attempt this challenge the other day and it was so incredibly funny! the amount of times they fell all the way down was hilarious

I really enjoyed the search party levels, they were fun for me. Although I play a lot of mario maker so it didn't take me long to guess where the blocks were placed
8:25 There is a trick to skip going through the doors: using the drill mushroom to cross the blocks underground. Would have been better if there was some type of hint, but I enjoyed when I discovered it

Watery Wonder Tokens is an underdeveloped concept, but it inspired me to make a SMM2 autoscroller where the water goes down amd you gotta avoid enemies and obstacles

A cool challenge for the badge levels (specifically the ones for the orange badges), is trying to minimize using the badges effect. For example, you can beat both wall-climb jump levels with one use each and the second one is a good challenge
11:48 Try throwing the firework canisters upwards, this can be more effective occasionally since, you are not susceptible to the automatic timing of the projectiles. Also spin boost with drill is a great combo for this room. If done right it is possible to clear this room in around 15 seconds.

Is it only me who didnt realise until recently the outmaway bonus stage is meant to be completed by avoiding ice blocks until you eventually get the wonder seed?

wow i had absolutely no idea that unreachable treasure had invisible blocks at all... i was using jet run and the speed it gives lets you do one sided wall jumps so i just did that up the entire pipe. at the time i never realised that it was jet runs speed letting you do that and thought it was just in the game (since a few badges make it very easy to do one sided walljumps) and that it was sort of a tutorial bonus climbing walls using wall jumps/badges

I’m glad Sunbaked Skirmish made it to top 4, as I’ve recently been speedrunning it, and it’s super satisfying
I would have put break time treasure vault higher on the list since from what I've found it is the quickest way to get the drill power up if you want it for another level. The drill power up is also the most useful power from what I've found (it is so hard to Cappy bounce with those bubbles, though I don't know how often I actually Cappy bounced myself as I suck at games). The second most useful is the elephant power up as you can use it to hit glowing spots that would require a shell or something similar to hit otherwise. Can't say it isn't a great video though!
The bonus stages are fun exact for the search party level though i have a idea for a video you could do now its sounds obvious but you could do a wonder video about how you would bosses in the game even if there's only 5 and 4 of those are bower jr but you could try to come up for new bosses to replaced three of the bower jr fights and even come up for ideas for bosses for the two worlds that doesn't have bosses but its fine if you don't want to do it 😊

I honestly thought that wonder effects were just lazy ways to cash in, but I’m actually starting to appreciate it more.

I disagree with the statement about #10, parachute cap 2’s last 10-coin. Other people might’ve already realized, but this coin trail was what made me aware of how it’s better to use it on and off rather than holding.
I legit beat hurry hurry while only pressing right once (i moved right to reach the timer block, and then wall jumped off that)

Parachute cap 2's last section is to teach you about releasing and re-activating the cap in mid-air. (Just holding R won't you get you to the top.)

Sugarstar Trial is the best Flower Coin farm, use Parachute to skip to the Wonder Flower and self destruct at the before the Wonder Seed to do it again faster.

Honestly, I've always preferred the Search Party levels over the KO Arenas, mainly because the arena timers keep running even when you're just trying to get to the pipes.
that's part of the fun of routing though, you have to beat all the enemies in a way where you end up near the exit by the end
3:59 actually (this is the way I did it because I’m stupid) if you wait for the enemy to kick enough ice blocks, it spawns the flower
Fun Fact: For Kick It, Outmaway, the intended way of beating the level is to try not to get crushed by the ice blocks by either jumping over them or destroying them
Pipe park took me 45 minutes to complete, I had no idea what the hell to do with the little pull thing.

Search Party: An Empty Park was the only time I felt like I was playing a New Soup level in Wonder. Specifically New Soup U because of the memories of a good chunk of Star Coins being hidden it the most BS "why would I do this" areas.

With the jet run badge and constantly jumping, you can complete hurry hurry without activating the blocks.
