give your kid an instrument, not a cell phone......treat our top musicians like respected human beings, not rock stars. give thanks everyday for this life we are living. i'm 72 yrs old and had given up on modern music and just focused on playing my old acoustic guitar......til i saw this young blond kid backing up johnny winters in his last days and wondered who is this kid....haven't stopped listening since...means a lot to this old guy. many thanks, peace and much love, from an ex-pat in b.c., canada.

Bands like TTB are keeping real music alive. They are a throwback to the great days of rock. I wish them luck and success. They have true talent. Cannot wait to see them live

Amen, sister, I left a comment that sounds almost exactly like yours on one of their other videos. If you get a chance, check out the RUclips video of their live performance of The Sky Is Crying at Royal Albert Hall in the UK. It will blow you away. Susan lays it down on guitar and as usual, Derek is positively amazing.

It makes me love Derek so much just based on how much he bashes most of the modern music today. He is so fucking right and I am glad he is honest enough to say it when most wont!

I am in my 50s and consider myself to have an eclectic taste in music, but for whatever reason, I didn't stumble across this band until relatively recently. I saw them play at Wembley in Feb 2020 and it was one of the best live performances I have ever seen. The chemistry displayed on stage that night, is apparent also in this interview. They love each other and they love music. Beautiful to watch

There is such a deep pool of music from the past, starting at the turn of the century in new orleans.Blues,Gospel,r&b,jazz , and it is connected and soulful.Todays music has shallow roots, and they seem oblivious to all the great music that preceeded them. The TTD band understands where the heart of music is and they keep the flame burning.

The sky is crying at Royal Albert music hall when Derek played with the Les Paul. I’ve probably seen that video 10,000 times. It is the best rendition of that song ever. Susan plays that Strat like a combination of Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan. And of course Derek plays like well. Nobody else including the great Duane Allman. That is the Marvin, Gaye and Tammi, Terrell of Southern rock blues.

So true. Such a vacuous musical landscape, worldwide (generally). Hopefully, just a low ebb or in a cycle, that will make it’s way back to real musicality. We shall see. Thank you, Derek and Susan, for staying the course, and keeping real music alive!

There's great music all over the place, but traveling the way they do, it's unlikely to reveal itself quickly. Current pop tastes rarely reflect the depth of soul they're looking for. They clearly look though. I went to see them in Austin a few years back and the night before their show went to hear local guitar great, Mitch Watkins, at the Elephant Room, the local jazz club. Who do I see there? Derek, Susan and Tyler (drummer for TTB).
