      That’s a good soil mix. I just don’t have any lava rock at the moment, but if I do, I will also add some. Lava rocks have lots of minerals that can be beneficial to the cacti.

    If you like spineless cactus, look into Matucana madisoniorum. They are from south america and actually like umidity. They tend to be spineless but do grow some spines with age, which then fall out as they age more. It's an interesting plant with beautiful flowers, that range from pure white to a strong red. Your video has great tips, not just for Lophophora, but for lots of other cactus as well. Very nice!

      Ohhh, I just searched it, and I love their flowers. I always love plants with red flowers. I’ll try to find some here in the Philippines. Thank you so much for your suggestion, and I am glad you liked my videos.

    I see the grower pruned the roots all the way to the tap root. I'd like to learn more about pruning roots of Ariocarpus when repotting.

    • @theplantprinceph
      @theplantprinceph  4 месяца назад

      Yes, some growers in Thailand prune the roots of the cacti when they ship them. Root trimming is a common practice in Thailand, Japan, and other Southeast Asian countries.
      I don’t have any Ariocarpus yet, but I am planning to buy some soon. I’ll share it here once I am able to get some Ariocarpus. Anyway, I have a guide about root pruning.

    Do you have and experience/knowledge on trimming the taproot?
    I saw a video claiming that it’s a widely used technique amongst Asian growers. Apparently it promotes feeder root growth, therefore speeding up growth.

    • @theplantprinceph
      @theplantprinceph  15 дней назад

      When it is this big, I don’t usually trim the tap roots since it will take days before it heals up. But when they are young, I usually cut the tap roots to produce feeder roots.
      I’ve also seen those videos. Even the Thai expert in Lophophora cuts the taproot.

    Hello
    What do u think about growing hydroponic aster cactus ? I want to try and hope you can share your advice with me 💚

    • @theplantprinceph
      @theplantprinceph  4 месяца назад

      I haven’t tried growing cactus in hydroponics. It would be a challenging thing to do since cactus don’t like their roots sitting in wet for a long period of time.

    What's the best season or time of the year to re pot these cactus?

    • @theplantprinceph
      @theplantprinceph  15 дней назад +1

      Hello, not sure where you are in the world. But if you’re in tropics, you could repot all year round. Just avoid repotting when there is typhoon or during rainy weeks. If you experience 4 seasons, then best time to repot is when they are awake or during the spring and summer.
