Season 1 is my favorite by far, it just has that old pilot charm that non of the other seasons have. Non of the episodes are boring and the characters are not as annoying and unlikable as they are in later seasons.

Yeah, even though season 2 is superior in a lot of ways, the choices made in season 1 has such a pretty atmosphere of quiet emotion mixed woth the humor, amplified by the brilliant musical choices. The excerpt from “Schehezerade” that plays in two season 1 episodes comes to mind as particularly vivid.

this might not be the best place to put this but as far as I'm aware, there were two cartoon cartoons that were made by the people who made Ren and Stimpy. there's "Tales of Worm Paranoia" and "Buy One, Get One Free".

R&S alumni have made some more pilots
Vincent Waller - What is Funny, Hey Look!
William Wray - King Crab Space Crustacean
Arthur Filloy and Bob Camp - Lucky Lydia
Chris Reccardi (and Lynne Naylor and Charlie Bean, et. al) - Imp Inc., The Modifyers, Meddlen Meadows
It's a shame none of the major players on R&S were able to launch their own show based on a new concept.

@@duhdeedee I love many of those you mentioned. Meddlen Meadows is still one of those I remember quite well.
Don’t forget about Let’s Talk Turkey and Pete Patrick; What About Lunch, the other pilot ideas Vincent Waller got to direct for Oh Yeah Cartoons. The latter even had a Peter Lorre like cat who I thought was also voiced by Billy West.

    My Ranking
    5. Season 3: This season in my opinion is the weakest season in my opinion, because it has the least memorable episodes out of the lots, I mean it had some memorable episodes like Circus Midgets, but I just didn't like many of the episodes this season
    4. Season 5: This season is higher than season 3 because I feel like most of the episodes were good, I liked episodes like Ol Blue Nose and a few others, however, I don't think the episodes this season compare to the other ones
    3. Season 4: This season had really good episodes, however, it's lower because of some episodes that are really bad, but on the bright side, there were still enjoying episodes, especially episodes like Double Header and Hermit Ren, those 2 I really enjoyed.
    2. Season 1: It may be the shortest season but still had amazing episodes, one of those episodes being in my top 3,i loved episodes like Stimpy's Invention and Space Madness, however, it's not at 1 for the lack of episodes
    1. Season 2: What have I got to say, this season is amazing, with extremely amazing episodes like The Great Outdoors, In The Army and many others were awesome, my favorite episode is Sven Hoek, definitely watching this season again.

Love your vids but personally, my ranking would be
5.S4 (I think the season is great overall but some of the episodes are kinda boring and blend in for me, like Wiener Barons, Cheese Rush Days, Farm Hands. Still none of the episodes mentioned are all that bad and the season has some real bangers like Hermit Ren, My Shiny Friend, and Insomniac Ren)
4.S5 (Another great Games Season, I personally think this Season is more memorable and enjoyable than S4 and is home to some more bangers. Terminal Stimpy, Old Blue Nose, and Pen Pals just to name a few. I think S5 isn't really the best looking Season at times but I feel like it was great way to end the show)
3.S3 (The best games season imo, probably because half of the season was Spumco ideas. But yeah this season is really enjoyable to me and some of the best episodes like An Abe Divided, A Yard too Far, and Stimpy's Cartoon Show are hilarious. While this season does have a few boring duds I can't deny when I say I personally come back to this Games Season the most)
2.S2 (This Season is home to some of the best episodes in the entire show's run, almost every episode hits and most of them are hilarious. But Most doesn't mean all, and like S3 there are a few forgettable ones in the mix, but nonetheless it is a fantastic Season with not so mucb variety.
1.S1 (Yeah this is the best Season. Most variety and most consistent one easily. While short this Season rarely had a bad apple and is pretty much Ren and Stimpy at a constantly good/funny quality. There's a reason the most iconic episodes from the show are in here, it's cuz the Season is absolutely amazing!)

In my opinion, seasons 1 & 2 are tied for me for the best. Both have aspects that I really enjoy. So I can’t really call one better than the other. Though in regards to the other 3 from worst to best, my order would go like this.
    5. Season 4- Just wasn’t very invested with this season. Good episodes are still a thing, but yeah, my least favorite.
    4. Season 5- My feelings toward this season are pretty much the same as season 4. Though the best episodes, especially “Ren’s Brain”, stand out more than the best episodes of the previous season.
    3. Season 3- I like how much they tried to stick to the Spumco style early on and then started to do their own thing as the season went on.

Best to worst, here I go.
1: S2. Objectively the best season for me because of the Carbunkle-animated episodes. The Yaksmen episode is a carbunkle-animated one (that's already a plus), but they did it to a point where I'd consider it Ren & Stimpy's animation at. It's. Absolute. _Best._ (It's also funny, interesting, _and_ has got the yaksmen anthem!) Other episodes done by them are top 5 material, with the exclusion of Out West (6/10) and Man's Best Friend (9/10). All other episodes are great, too (maybe except for soemthing like The Great Outdoors)
2: S1. It's the most consistent season with quality, the lowest ranking I've given for a s1 epsiode is only 8/10. I'm only placing it lower because of, well, S2 Carbunkle.
    3. S5. The best games season for me. It has top 10 material, albeit, only at the end of the season (and, thus, the original series). It still has episodes that are great, and i especially love the episodes that were animated by Mr. Big Cartoons! (S4 also has some done by them). Although, it's the first season on this list with _bad_ episodes, those being School Mates and Hair of the Cat.
    4. S3. I don't have _much_ to say, but it has some S tier episodes such as An Abe Divided, Ren's Bitter Half and Ren's Pecs.
    5. S4. Worst season of the original show, but even the worst season can have some amazing episodes, Such as Blazing Entrails and Hermit Ren! But it's the first season of the _series_ where we'd really get the bad and meh episodes (It's a Dog's Life, Pixie King, A Friend in Your Face! Just to name a few), but they're exceptions.
    6. APC, if you'd count it. It has objectively the worst episodes out of _anything_ officially Ren & Stimpy (who knows? Maybe the reboot would prove us wrong, but i highly, _HIGHLY_ doubt it). The first, Tv-aired half is ok, but more so leaning into meh (first two episodes _are_ meh, the third one is good), but the second half is just bottom of the barrel stuff.
I'd honestly dont know what you'd do after this tho. Maybe just videos about the show? Ah yeah, apc. _And_ the reboot (in the future)
S3 and S4 are debatable for me.

Season 1 - most charming season. Really evokes that Hanna Barbera style more than any other season. It’s deranged and loony, but also weirdly cozy. Great start.
Season 2 - this is where the show found its footing. Better animation quality, better writing, and more on point characterization. Carbunkle is at the top of their game and John has completely gone off the deep end by this point. The show fully embraces just how deranged it is (also home to the best Spumco-Carbunkle collab, RCKY).
Season 3 - Best of both worlds (Spumco and Games). Games did a pretty decent job adapting Spumco’s leftovers (especially considering that they were essentially creating those episodes from scratch with nothing more than an outline and no longer had access to the full storyboards, recordings, and layouts from Spumco that they used to finish the remainder of season 2). Overall, not terrible for Games’ first outing.
Season 4 - the show has hit a bit of a slump here. Drawings are flat and lack expression in a lot of these (at least compared to what came before). Ren and Stimpy somehow feel less developed and more like parodies of themselves. Ren is stereotypically jerkish and Stimpy is much more annoying. Still some goodies in here like Egg Yolkeonand Blazing Entrails.
Season 5 - slightly better. Has many of season 4’s problems but contains instant classics like Ren’s Brain. Could’ve been better but overall not too bad.
APC (Season 6) - ….is it bad that I actually kinf of like it?

S1 1991-92: It maintains that 50s Satire and Groundbreaking Subversive Humor that Ren and Stimpy would be introduced to world with. Its also John K's Vision and Creation finally coming to life with MTV Networks and Nickelodeon willing to take a chance on this "Bizzare New Cartoon". Remember, in 1991, there was NOTHING on TV like Ren and Stimpy. It was so Ubiquitous, so Original, that kids like me tuned in every Sunday Morning for it. I was 8 years old in '91 and the show absolutely blew my mind. My friends and I knew Nickelodeon had a HUGE hit brewing on in their hands. Season 1 is probably the MAIN Season where Kricfalusi has TOTAL creative Control and a Camaraderie going on between Spumco and Nickelodeon. Nick LOVED what had been pitched to them in late '90 and MTV Networks themselves(Viacom and MCA Television) were captivated by it. Season 1 was the good old days. Back when John K was truly dedicated to his Creation and everyone was helping him get it on wheels. The August 11,1991 Pilot "Stimpy's Big Day" was the ONLY time that we see John K Manage to successfully produce a 25 minute episode and execute it BRILLIANTLY.
S2 1992-93. Trouble Brewing. The Outstanding Success of Ren and Stimpy fuels Kricfalusi's ego and he certainly lets it get to his head. He becomes Ambitious, but turns Rigid and gets Extreme with the Deadlines, often disregarding the deadlines Nickelodeon keeps setting. Spumco themselves also fall behind schedule, Nickelodeon decides to create an in house Animation Studio called Games Animation,Inc to help assist Spumco, they ask John if he'd be willing to work with Games, but he refuses so they decide to Terminate his and Spumco's Contract. In S2, Ren and Stimpy not only finds its footing it begins to take on an Identity and Image and becomes more and more akin to an Animated Cartoon that truly belonged on MTV far more than it did on Nickelodeon. With MTV now willing to air R&S, John K doesn't want the show to be "Kid's Stuff" he wants it to be TRULY edgy and "Subtlety Adult" with The Fantastically Absurd S2 Premiere "In The Army Now which introduced us to Bob Camp", to the Edited Masterpiece "Sven Hoek"(John K's Original Version only saw light of Day on MTV in '93) all the way down to the final 4 GEMS John and Spumco finished and completed by time they were officially fired by Nickelodeon on February 26,1993: Stimpy's Fan Club, Visit To Anthony, The Cat The Laid The Golden Hairball and Royal Canadian Quited Yaksman(ALL aired in time for the Spring of 1993) S2 is brilliant, but the behind-the-scenes drama between John Kricfalusi and Nickelodeon as well as the DISASTEROUS PR regarding the birth of Games Animations,Inc in the Fall of 1992 marr what was a fantastic Sophomore Season.
S3 1993-94. Things Get kinda Dicey. Nickelodeon now takes FULL Control of Ren and Stimpy, MTV Networks and Nickelodeon split up, and the IPO between Viacom and MCA begins to fall apart. On top of Nickelodeon FIRING JIm Jenkins and Jumbo Pictures, NEARLY terminating Klasky Csupo's Contract(Which is why Rugrats went on Hiatus in 1994) for working on Duckman, S3's Games Animation debut tries to present itself as Standalone and Nickelodeon moving R&S to SNICK Saturday Nights attempts to Boast that Ren And Stimpy is ITS property and its IP alone. With Billy West now taking over as both Stimpy and Ren's Voices, Ren and Stimpy becomes Formulaic, Episodes like "Ren's Other Half", "To Salve or Not to Salve" and even "Stimpy's Cartoon" and "An Abe Divided" all follow identical troupes.
S4. 1994-95. The '94-95 Season had it moments. "Blazing Entrails" is absolutely Weird. But you can Tell Billy West was having a brilliant time. There's rumors that his falling out with John K was because West actually CLASHED with his own input regarding storyboards and concepts. S4 also had some great episodes like "House of Next Tuesday", "Insomiac", "My Shiny Friend", "Doubleheader" and Scotman in Space.
S5. Fall 1995. Nickelodeon knew it was over. Viacom had just brought out the Network entirely and one of the things Redstone had done was evaluate R&S' IP viability, and they found that Most of R&S' Viewers had grown tired of Games Animation and were chafing on John K and Spumco's Absence. Camp himself was getting burned out and it was also clear that MTV was a more viable home than Nick. Final Season is pretty forgettable.
S6/S0 APC 2003. Pretty Banal. Basically its "John Kricfalusi becomes Producer In Name Only". When John K is directing and Executively Producing, its BARELY watchable, but when its NOT John K doing either, its TEDIOUS and MONOTONOUS. John K NEVER actually regained creative control of Ren and Stimpy. Spike TV/New TNN was actually lying as John K was brought on only as Producer and to use his Characters to launch Spike TV's Animation Block. John K only ran and did the Episodes that were all Early 90s rejected concepts from Nickelodeon "Ren Seeks Help", "Firedogs 2", "Altrurists" and "Life Sucks"(Which never got finished). Bottom line, John K let Spumco run amuck when Spike TV told them to be as "Gross and Adult". as they wanted. THEY started skipping deadlines and going overbudget.

Yeah, I say that my all-time favorite season if I’m pressed to pick one, I’d say Season 2. It has two of my excellently classic and favorite episodes like the banned episode, which you’ve forgotten to mention, Man’s Best Friend, because of the strongest intro to John Kricfalusi’s Avatar, George Liquor, American, with the most breathtaking planned but stylized animation by Bob Jaques and Kelly Armstrong and the Carbunkle Cartoons crew, with Chris Sauve being in it, I presume. But to the greatest extent, Sven Höek due to what Bob, Kelly, and Carbunkle brought to the table in terms of stylized animation.

    My ranking:
    Worst to best
Season 4 kinda boring mostly because it’s really long to me has kinda just ok episodes at best and at worst is boring and monotonous
Season 5: I like it consistently more than 4 but the episodes never really get past ok for me besides a couple again it’s boring and dull and the good ones usually have one half better that the other half of the episodes
Season 3: there’s a lot of spumco still visible in season 3 so I like it a bit more i think it has a nice vibe and atmosphere honestly but the best episodes like jimmony lummox and rens retirement are really only A tier episodes
Season 2: this is a great season but some of the episodes are a little dull compared to others I think season two has some amazing animation and episodes but it’s very inconsistent on all fronts and certain ones are just trash episodes
Season 1 : I love this season so much I’m really nostalgic for this season I remember watching it all the time on the dvd I got years ago and untamed world is my favourite episode of the show but even then every episode of the season is an S or an A tier for me and it’s hilarious

From worst to best, I rate them as:
    5. Season 4
    4. Season 5
    3. Season 3
    2. Season 1
    1. Season 2
But in my opinion there's very little in it between seasons 1/2 and seasons 4/5. I still find Ren and Stimpy "split down the middle", I find the first two and a half seasons mostly good to excellent with just a scattering of weaker episodes, and the last two and a half seasons more of a mixed bag, and that's why season 3 slots firmly into the middle for me. But at the same time, I've grown to appreciate many of the later episodes more over the past couple of years.

    My ranking:
S2 - It has two major classics to rival the best of S1 (Man's Best Friend and Sven Hoek) and there's more content with most of the weaknesses of S1 ironed out. The non-Carbunkle episodes by Games probably suffered in the transition (especially Stimpy's Fan Club) but they're still classic material.
S1 - Apart from the two obvious classics, Robin Hoek, Untamed World, Nurse Stimpy, Stimpy's Big Day are all friggin' great. Only a few weaker episodes hold it back a little.
S3 - This is the default winner of the Games run thanks to the high quantity of leftover Spumco material. The double-length episodes are mostly ace. "A Yard Too Far" is Bob Camp's last gasp of greatness before he's off storyboarding. "Ren's Bitter Half" is the most classic totally Games episode. Plus some of the fake ads are excellent. Some crap to be found, not too much.
S5 - The quality is all over the place here but this is somewhat pulled out of the S4 muck. At least "Feud For Sale" is the other classic of the Games run.
S4 - Mostly sucks, some are better than average.
APC - Welp, anyone who thought the Spumco and Carbunkle people who departed with S2 were going to make it ipso facto great again were in for a letdown. (My expectations weren't that high, given the flash cartoons and Ripping Friends)
reboot - Gonna have to wait. The two episodes that leaked are ok but it's such an unnecessary exercise in plagiarism there's not much to get excited about.

My ranking of these seasons would be:
    1. Season 1 (Despite the drama happening behind the scenes, this was definitely the most "solid" in terms of production consistency between episodes.)
    2. Season 2 (Has some of the best episodes of the show, along with some less than stellar episodes that thankfully aren't as bad or boring as episodes later on. However, the production shift between Spümcø and Games Animation is a tad noticeable, which has hurt the quality of some episodes in the season.)
    3. Season 3 (Not a bad first outing for Games Animation's take on the show, but it's hard to ignore the fact that their approach to episodes resulted in either less creatively comedic moments, more shallow gross-out jokes, or sometimes both.)
    4. Season 5 (Very mixed bag of a season, but unfortunately had more worse episodes than season 3 did. Thankfully, when the episodes were good, they were pretty enjoyable.)
    5. Season 4 (With the exception of a handful of hidden gems, this season had episodes that were mostly uninspired or cliché, which are adjectives that should NOT be associated with an episode of Ren & Stimpy.)

Season 2 is still pretty much on point even with the ones Games finished. Those cartoons were already fully storyboarded with dialogue from Spumco so Games didn’t really impact the final product all that much.

      @theassortedhobbyist 4 месяца назад +1

@@sandwichgod692 I’m inclined to agree for episodes like Son of Stimpy or The Royal Canadian Kilted Yaksmen, but it’s a bit easy to see that A Visit to Anthony had some more content that was ultimately scrapped or could not be further developed as Games was wrapping up production. Not to mention the fact that the first cut of Sven Hoëk done by Games included unbalanced audio mixing and music cues that misrepresent the tone of specific scenes. There were also episodes where it was obvious that Billy West had to finish recording a few of Ren’s lines, in addition to some of John K’s effort sound effects being recycled from previous episodes.

Only if you promise to only watch Ren & Stimpy, to make underleg noises during the good scenes, and wear unwashed lederhosen every single day of the rest of your life. If you agree to these terms, he’s all yours.
