There is no such thing as a “hybrid” tire as a class. It is a term that describes off road tires that fall in between all terrain and mud terrain. Something like an A/T that has a more aggressive tread (more spacing, larger lugs) or a M/T that has a less aggressive tread design. So some people have a different idea what would be a hybrid. I have the Falken Wild Peak A/T on mine Jeeps and truck and they are definitely much more capable than most A/T tires on the market.
@TheCrazyMoparDude68 actually there is such thing as a hybrid tire now. Most are marketed as either a RT(Rugged Terrain) or XT (Exteme Terrain) they are versatile tires that meet many needs.

Also, I drive in absolute rain monsoon going 80 mph and it felt like I was driving in dry conditions. I am blown away honestly. Oh and they are the most quiet AT.
@@Dieselman6.7I got Toyo open country on my 4Runner. February will be 3 years minimal wear, quiet, great in the rain and snow. No punctures or flats. Good for mild off-roading. It’ll get you there and back. Not a mud tire but does ok in it. Highly recommend it
Kenda Klever AT2 and RT are both great (I have the AT2 for the snow/ice grip) and I can still afford to buy groceries after getting them. The Toyo's are big $ but do last forever 👍

Ran ridge graps on duramax for 6 years now have 40k on um. Love um except they do not do well in snow. Requires much more 4x4 use. Not a fan of um in MI
Hello I have a 2024 4 runner I do plan on going off roading at some point but nothing crazy but maybe like once a month or so. I live down in nyc so we don’t get lots of snow my question is what tire would be good for me?
For exploring off road in Florida we have a lot of sugar sand. Then with the rainy season, it can get a but mushy. Which would handle the sands better...of course aired down a bit if needed?
Of these, the Ridge or Recon Grappler would probably work best. However it sounds like a more aggressive tire like a mud terrain might be better if you're not doing a ton of highway miles and long trips with the vehicle.
@@MountZionOffroad thanks. Will be doing a lot of driving, but hopefully a lot of exploring as well. So a MT might be too aggressive. Thanks so much for getting back
Goodyear duratracs my man. I’m from Florida too and there is no better tire for our sand and mud without going full m/t. They are aggressive for an a/t but quiet on the highway. Also I got 75k miles out of my last set.
@@DaddyDFL you’re welcome sir. FYI I drive a ‘13 Tacoma crew cab, so not a heavy rig. Also I rotated them every 5-8k miles. Probably why I got so many miles out of the last set. I have seen guys posting with heavier trucks saying they didn’t get but 50-60k miles out of a set.
Hybrid a/t? I'd say every single on listed looks and performs as a all terrain tire. I'd say most DOT legal m/t tires should be considered hybrid mt/at. Baja boss, Cooper stt pro, those are listed as m/ts but those are more of hybrid tires imo.
Nitto EXO Grappler AWT is a hybrid tire they are not quiet thou they howl a little bit especially when you get some kilometers on them. I was looking at the Yokohamas when Nitto has/had a tire shortage. The Yokos are not 3peak rated. The Toyo AT tires are awful in the snow its the one Toyo model I wouldn't buy. The M55 and C/T are decent tires noisy yes.
What are some opinions on repairing one of these slightly more aggressive tires with a plug and patch after a nail? Does it compromise the tires integrity? Does it shorten its lifespan at all? Thanks.
Just like a semi tire. You can patch the inside & plug the outside. Not an issue. That repair isn't recommended if the intrusion is close to either sidewall ridge.

I hate how no one talks about the best aggressive looking tires but for roads! Not everyone likes to take their truck on trails. But i want aggressive looking but quiet on roads… thats all im asking for
There are a lot of great options these days! Tire manufacturers have made tires look more aggressive with sidewall design. You'll be happy with anything in the hybrid or AT category that has a sidewall you like the look of
Found the mall crawler.
@@jaymoar3561LMAOOOOOO. GOTTEM
Im getting the baja Boulevard
I’d like the same thing. I heard the nitto recon grappler is made primarily for on road use but still has a somewhat aggressive look.
You forgot Kumho Road Venture A/Ts. Those would be top
Ran ridge graps on duramax for 6 years now have 40k on um. Love um except they do not do well in snow. Requires much more 4x4 use. Not a fan of um in MI
What about the Kenda Klever? Best tire I’ve owned.
Hello I have a 2024 4 runner I do plan on going off roading at some point but nothing crazy but maybe like once a month or so. I live down in nyc so we don’t get lots of snow my question is what tire would be good for me?
Where is MAXXIS 980 AT BRAVO ??
@@millatym04 very helpful!! Thank you
@@DaddyDFL you’re welcome sir. FYI I drive a ‘13 Tacoma crew cab, so not a heavy rig. Also I rotated them every 5-8k miles. Probably why I got so many miles out of the last set. I have seen guys posting with heavier trucks saying they didn’t get but 50-60k miles out of a set.
I’ve got Toyo’s RTs on 35s want to swap into something more comfortable less aggressive but still have that look which one would work?
you missed radar renegade rt+
Hybrid a/t? I'd say every single on listed looks and performs as a all terrain tire. I'd say most DOT legal m/t tires should be considered hybrid mt/at. Baja boss, Cooper stt pro, those are listed as m/ts but those are more of hybrid tires imo.
The disappointing thing about the Recon Grappler is most of the sizes are E load range. Way too stiff for lighter SUVs and trucks.
What about the radar renegade R/t+ ?????
Have not tried it, but we have had very little luck with less expensive tires balancing well and consistently on a road force balance
The Klever AT is better than No no or Nitto but costs half as much.
How about Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT or Exp , you missed the best one !
Falken Wildpeak’s are great but the AT3 is NOT a hybrid, that would be the RT my dudes!
I’ve got the ridge grapplers. Look nice, but I don’t like them.
Which one weighs less
What are some opinions on repairing one of these slightly more aggressive tires with a plug and patch after a nail? Does it compromise the tires integrity? Does it shorten its lifespan at all? Thanks.
Just like a semi tire. You can patch the inside & plug the outside. Not an issue. That repair isn't recommended if the intrusion is close to either sidewall ridge.
@greghinchley6277 hit it dead on
What’s best for snow ?
We have TONS of feedback on how great the Falken AT3W are in the snow!
I live in Arizona it’s a desert over here but if it rains there’s mud what is the perfect tires that I can use
I'm a native of AZ. The problem is it hardly ever rains.
TOYO OPEN COUNTRY R/T for me
I need a tire for a 23 ram 1500. 22 rims, looking at 33’s. Needed more aggressive. Look for quiet please
The Wildpeak AT3W would be our top choice there, with the Ridge Grappler being 2nd
Would any one of these be a good choice , for Subaru forester ? Any suggestions
We install a lot of Wildpeak AT3s on Forester, Outback and Cross Trek!
No KO2s?
What tire is the lightest?
Need a new video on these
arent the Toyo AT3's just plain AT tires?
What would you recommend for ford Maverick? Looking for nice looks and quiet running on hwy
Falken AT3
What would you get on your Ram 2500 truck, The Falkins wild peak? Mainly offroad, not rock climbing.
Yes, the Wildpeak AT3W in the proper load range for your truck would be a great choice
Thank you.
New to this side of tire science, how would these hold up on the family suv?
Any of these would be a good choice. We highly recommend the Falken AT3W for SUVs
Wild peak rt
What about the Wildpeak RT?
Those are all ATs
