@@wilfinley I mean, I would say Parkour goes into that category too, especially with how dangerous roof gaps and things can be. Professional fighting as well, especially MMA.
wow you got significantly better since the last video, which was only a couple days ago. that yellow v3-4 looked extremely well route-read and you can easily tell you’ve put in a lot of work. that mantle you did would not be something i see someone who climbed for such a short time doing
Yeah, that yellow boulder was insane, can't believe that was his second time. When he was with Magnus, you could see he has insane strength, but also could clearly see it was his first time, crazy improvement. I hope we get to see a lot more climbing videos, it would be awesome to see how far Chris could progress. His pure strength is incredible, even in the yellow boulder he could've preserved a lot more energy by using his feet more, but he doesn't even need to, ridiculous!
@@mickLeed We just campused the boulder, incredbile strenght. I guess it is normal when you have spent most of your life doing bodyweight exercise, but still impressive
chris crushed that boulder at 5:55 for being so new to climbing. it would be cool to see him and others keep getting better. more bouldering videos please
He only really used his body strength on that one and no technique. He "campused" nearly the entire boulder, which means only using your hands and upper body to climb with feet dangling. While yes, he did finish the climb, he really should go back and learn to climb that same boulder more technically and relying less on his preexisting raw strength, keeping feet on the wall and learning to move his body. If he got on a vertical wall of the same grade (instead of an overhanging one with big holds) he'd be struggling. I don't mean this as a diss on him, he's doing well and it's cool to see him stoked on climbing, but learning technique early on is very important, and it's common to see fit guys come in and bypass technique by relying on strength. While it might look good at first, it will slow your progress further down the road. He did better using feet and trying to figure out technique on his top rope climb, which would have been hard to campus so it forced him to use a little technique.
@@kartoffel128 If you didn't read it then how can you say it's wrong? Brilliant. Anyway, I've climbed for many years, so no actually, I'm not wrong. You can only progress so much in climbing using pure strength and no technique. If you think I'm wrong then tell me why.
Just a heads up - if your bottom hand is right next to the belay device when the climber falls the rope will be pulled upwards and your hand (especially the skin between your thumb and forefinger) can be pulled into the belay device. Just worth holding the rope a little bit lower to allow for this :) loving the climbing content - exciting to see where you’ll end up going with this!
I noticed this as well. Also saw that his figure 8 knot had some twists in it which I guess isn’t as big a deal as I thought it was? I haven’t been doing top rope that long but our instructors emphasized having a perfect knot with no twists
@@sadiemoland2157 if the knot isn’t dressed evenly then the rope will be loaded in an uneven way when you take a fall but you can get round this by tightening all 4 strands of rope that come from the knot individually when you’ve tied it
Hi Sam! You may not be able to see but there is a lip on the belay device and my hand was on top of the lip so it would not catch my hand. Thanks for looking out though i will hold it lower, and thanks for watching 😁👍🏽
Genuinely loved how after only a couple weeks of climbing the homie gave a detailed breakdown of safety technique around 6:30 or 7:00. Really shows his passion and interest in learning the sport and it’s beyond cool to see. 10/10 video🤟🏼
one can really tell that Chris finds climbing challenging and fun, the sheer knowledge and understanding he already built, in this short period, is insane! keep up the awesome videos!
Calisthenics seems to work great with new exercises from other types of training. And it's also great from things like rock climbing to all the way to arm wrestling. That's just amazing to me. Thanks as always, Chris. Thenx Forever.
So awesome to see Chris demolish rock climbing, he is progressing so fast as we all knew he would. Also, where in the world has Osvaldo been??? I am so glad to see him, Chris mentioned he started a family and was really busy, but it is so nice to see the legend back, I hope he finds the motivation to continue!
It's really interesting to see calisthenic people who are fit physically getting into rock climbing and figuring out all the technical aspects. Good video!

Thank you for promoting my beloved one! A shoutout to you, Chris, for doing an excellent job on your third attempt, as well as expertly tying in and being a fantastic coach to Ozzy! :)
This is awesome! I'm new to your channel since you and Magnus got together but you are a true teacher and someone who likes others to crush their goals.
Been watching you in the early years but stopped watching for a while as i lost interest in calisthenics and started bouldering (6 years now). Seeing THENX fire up climbing videos has now got me hitting the refresh button awaiting a new video. Fucking keen to see how far you take this!
Just wanted to show some appreciation for the great content. What stands out the most is how nice of a person you are being to everyone involved in this video. Mad props to you bro. It's pretty cool to see you super psyched about climbing too! We can genuinely feel the motivation and desire to explore the sport. I'd love to see you doing something with Chris Sharma! I think you guys would hit it off! That guys guy has such a great attitude as well you'll love him.
Stoked to see you're loving climbing and how much better you've got at moving your body in a short span of time! It's physical puzzle solving - you get to use your brain AND get a workout, which is why it is so satisfying! A note for those out there looking at getting into bouldering - EVERY climbing gym will encourage you to climb back down from the top hold of a boulder. You can use all holds/colours, but you are meant to climb back down to a 'safe' level before dropping. Personally I climb back down literally every boulder I do (unless I fall), and I treat it as endurance training.
It’s so nice too see that you try new stuff, to improve your skills and inspire other people with that Content. It's impressive to see how quickly you learn climbing! Thanks for these instructive videos Chris 👊🏼 greetings
Nice video for motivation, this proves fitness doesn't just have to be like weight lifting or bodyweight exercises, it can even be swimming, rock climbing and other physical activities. Nice one keep it brother. Waiting for next thenx video.
im hype to see you into climbing, i got into it a year ago and its just the greatest. If you continue climbing i very strongly suggest getting some non-rental shoes, having a sharper toe to get into the holds instantly improved my climbs, much love chris, never stop
Chris you're going to be smashing the 10s and 11s in no time my man. I love seeing other people catch the climbing bug. I'm really looking forward to future colabs with Magnus where you do some outdoor climbing. If you love the gym, wait until you're on the side of a cliff!
I love seeing this transfer of power between calisthenics and bouldering, such a good fit in condition - the way you campused the yellow route so fast, you will be great on dynamic competition style boulders, and introducing more calisthenic people into the sport is awesome.

OK now I don't know if I've seen the last video, if I didn't then I'll check it out when I can, but I just like it when Chris tries out new things with people he knows and people he meets everyday, he just likes to push people to either try new things that we could never do before, and that's what I like about him, and for this guy's information, the T H E N X community again can not ever disappoint us
Yooo great progress. Not even a month and you're cruising a v3-v4. Climbing fast isn't always necessary though! It helps to conserve but climbing slowly is great for training your endurance. Awesome work!
Great video! And great to see you spreading climbing! Just a small mention regarding what you can use: the volumes with holds on them are also considered like part of the wall. So you can usually use them as well as long as you aren't touching any hold (on any route unless it is specifically mentioned that you shouldn't).

Chris, you're so much better and more confident since the last time you climbed with Magnus!
