I’ve been using Fly Lady for about 2 years. It’s been helpful, but I have a schedule that changes from week to week, so I’ve had to modify it. I still have trouble with consistence. You’ve inspired me to get up earlier and really work to stick with a morning routine.
Love your honesty and directness. I love doing laundry. For years I didn't have a washer/dryer and had to go to laundromats. I carried laundry down 5 flights of stairs and walked a few blocks to the laundromat. And then back up 5 flights of stairs. Now I have a washer/dryer in my house. I feel joy and gratitude every time I do laundry at home.
Oh wow, I would be grateful for that too! I remember living on the top floor of an apartment and having to go down to the basement to do laundry. But it was just me and my hubby so it wasn’t a big deal. My washer and dryer were in my basement in my old house and the rooms on the top floor. Now I LOVE having my washer and dryer right next to my bedroom. I definitely am grateful for that!
Yes l did something similar…but l have never forgot that feeling to this day [and YOU are so right ] I’m 62 years old and love to do laundry and feel blessed that l still can♥️🇨🇦
When I was a child we didn't have a washer and dryer, my mother never took the laundry to the laundry place. So I borrowed the neighbors Little Red wagon and and pulled it several blocks to the Laundromat. Trying to pull the wagon and keep the mountain of clothes in a huge bag on top of the wagon and still drive it with high curbs on the corner was very challenging.😊 I asked my little friend if she would hold the bag of clothes while I pulled but she was embarrassed and wouldn't help. Well where there's a will there's a way. It was especially hard during the winter trying to get the wagon through the icy snow. Then she finally purchased some kind of a machine where you had to pull out all the wash clothes sopping wet and put it in the next section which was for rinse, then you had to slosh the clothes up and down in the water trying to rinse, and then it would spin. I don't know what kind of a machine it was but it was horrible. So yes I'm grateful for my washer and dryer.
If I am at home for the day, not working, I start in the kitchen and then tidy up as best as I can. Thank you for helping Mira in her scrapbooking room.❤
I have always been a cleaner, but I have my coffee before anything gets done. My mornings are mine, and I get outside, weather permitting, to get my sun and coffee in before I start my day.
I am going to try as much of the “Flylady” routine as I can. I have been disabled for 3 years and am dependent on a walker. So I will have to employ what I can. I used to hate doing laundry. Now although I don’t do my own laundry but just take it to a service. Even though it is clean, folded sanitized and put in bags, I still hate putting it away. How lazy is that?! I have enjoyed your videos, and am so happy I found you through Bonnie and Mira. actually, I am Mira’s secret ADHD twin who is also a disorganization specialist. I’m learning a lot from all three of you, and hope I can adapt these great ideas into my less than speed-driven lifestyle. Keep up your fine work! 😊 👍
Fly Lady was my first inspiration to get organized. One of my favorite ideas from her is "You can't clean clutter." And, another is "Swish and Swipe". I don't get dressed to shoes every morning and I don't make my bed every day. But there are many things like doing a load of laundry a day. So easy. Keeping your kitchen sink clean is a good one. Now I take little bits of inspiration from different people whom I like, like you. None of the programs are perfect for everyone. So I cafeteria shop RUclips and take what works from different people. I like practical advice and seeing regular people do things.

I love that one, too! I try doing it, but someone ALWAYS eats something after I’ve cleaned up and started the dishwasher. So there are always some dishes in the sink in the morning.
I like tidying and dislike cleaning the windows (not bc. of the cleaning but bc. of the putting everything in front of it (plants, decor etc.) away first). 😅 Love your voice btw! ❤ Hope your channel grows to the size it deserves. 😊
I think a load of laundry a day works for large households, but I have a small one, so I do all the laundry in one day, and I pair that with cooking for the week, all on a Wednesday, usually. The two things pair well because I can get a lot of cooking done while the dryer is going. I appreciate your videos-- full of good ideas!
I don’t like to dust ~ at all! I do a variation of her morning routine and it has made such a difference in our home. Each morning I do a quick tidy thru the house, unload/load dishwasher from breakfast and lunch prep and start laundry. Each evening we do a 15 min tidy before bed and switch laundry. My robot vacuum is such a help with the floors. All these things together make the weekly cleaning day much easier.
I gave each family member their own dirty laundry basket, and then a common one for bed linen/towels/cloths and wool. It's so nice that they take responsibility for the washing themselves!
Fly lady has definitely been a bif influence in my life and I have to wear shoes all day long or i dont feel like I can be productive. Vacuum lines also make me swoon 😅 scrubbing dishes and toilets are my nemesis 😊
Hi, just heard a shout out for your channel from Midwest Magic Cleaning! I love declutterring and cleaning videos. Looking forward to binge watching your channel and learning some new organizing ideas. These channels are an inspiration for me as I try to over come years of over consumption and not being able to say no to family clutter.
The fly lady system is made for me😅 daily routines and the zones. Been doing it all for about a year. I love it! I only do laundry ones a week, start on Saturday and might have a load or two left on Sunday. Only because I live alone/ have the kids every other week, so there isn’t enough laundry to do it every day. Even as a kid I went straight to the bathroom and then got dressed after waking up in the morning. Still doing that, but after a cup of coffee in bed😊. Never liked hanging out in my pyjamas obviously😅 I live in Norway and most people do not wear shoes indoors. So I wear my Birkenstocks for indoor use.
I hate cleaning the shower, but I started using a long handled scrubber and then rinse with the handle sprayer from the shower. Use an absorbent cleaning towel to dry. Or I don't always dry it after rinsing. I use the same handled scrubber for the tub too. Saves the bending over, etc.
I remember my mom doing fly lady probably 25 years ago! I've never researched it much personally, but I do: Make my bed, start and fold laundry, and unload the dishwasher every morning before I start homeschooling our kids. These things have made a huge difference in our home! We also do have and love our robot vac!!

Yes I've done a load of laundry every day for a few yrs now, it's so easier then a bunch of laundry. Ty for video I will follow it. My question I have two story home I end up clutter because bringing things up and down stairs how to not do that?
I get the dress to shoes. On my day off which is Sundays I use that day as my reset day. I find on days that I finally get dress and take my shower is a productive day. I’ll get dressed and take my shower then change out my waxed melts to get me motivated. I’d like to make Saturdays more motivating before I go into work. When I was growing up I never got around or started my day before 10. On Saturdays I’ll be awake way early in the morning but never really get ready for work until around noon or so. This summer I’d like to break this routine and start a new routine. Couple summers back I created a sleep schedule for me which currently I’ve fallen off from it which I also want to get back at it.
As a family of 7, the way we keep the laundry not so overwhelming is to have more minimal wardrobes. Weekly, I wash sheets, towels, darks, dress clothes/delicate, whites, mediums/light-colors, cleaning rags/towels. I do two loads a day. I use vinegar as fabric softener. If you find it still seems hard to keep the home clean/organized, you need to get rid of even more things. Great tips!
