Music of the 20's, 30's and 40's. Still the best music around. Too bad that those who can play it are mostly gone forever. But they remain immortal as long as we can watch such great videos.

I remember Tony Terran. I used to drive him with me to rehearsals. Great guy. Wonderful musician and supremely cool guy. Dick Nash the same thing. I would almost talk about nothing other than Dick Nash when I was kid. My trombone teacher probably was a little put out, but he asked Dick for an autograph for me, and got it. Dick suggested" "Glad to hear I'm number TWO in your book" (hint, hint was what my mom explained to me). Eventually I got to play with these guys in public - it was like heaven.

Goodman STILL at the top of his game here! And so nice to see Dick Nash emerge from the studios to play some REAL jazz!

Unfortunatley Dixie does not always gather as much attention as it deserves.
The two playing Trombone and Trumpet are friends of mine, and I've driven Tony (tpt) to rehearsals many times when he was not in right health to drive. I did not know he was such a kicikin' improviser....of course I knew Nash was a great dixie improv guy and also great swing playing! Like having a supercharged Teagarden around.
Benny sounds great as does Teddy. I wish I could have been there. Some great stuff

I never knew the name of the song. For those old enough "The Jackie Gleason Show," his variety show from NYC and Miami in the 1960s to 1970 (?) used the basic "That's A Plenty" during a few of "The Great One's" routines. Great version! Feels like you are in New Orleans.

Kinda spoiled it when the bass player got lost on the second strain and it took him a while to find it again. Pretty cool when BG almost stepped on the 'bone solo, but caught it and graciously handled it. Real class!

Yeah, that's an issue when you are used to play jazz standards and someone ask you to play a dixieland tune. You remember the chorus so you agree, but when the band starts to play, you realize there are many other damned sections of the song :D
