No other “all time great” (of any sport!) who played decades ago could materialize in the present day game and instantly be the best player EASILY. He would avg 45ppg without trying in the current environment.
These highlight reels don’t even show how he didn’t just dominate the entire game, on both ends, he absolutely crushed the fucking soul of the opponent.

I’m the same age man. I grew up in town. Started trying to be like Mike in the third grade. I only grew to 6 feet, but I was lucky enough to play at a college level. Played a few games on a 9/12 foot and my inner Jordan came out. It is one of the greatest feelings in the world, to be able to dunk on someone as Jordan did thousands of times. GET OFF ME!!!

If Jordan debuted in 2000s he would break the internet 5 times harder than anybody else did in these last two decades. I have to disagree, because I know full well even Michael Jordan himself would not agree with half the things you said… “perfect winner, perfect leader, perfect basketball player” He’s none of those things, but he pulls through and makes it seem that way to everyone else around him. He didn’t start winning without Scottie and Phil, he didn’t become a perfect leader with how he treated his teammates, and he never was the perfect player, but he worked hard and earned his stripes. He accepted he needed Scottie, he accepted he was to tough on his teammates, and he accepted he wasn’t perfect, but that didn’t stop him from having THE perfect career.

Jordan was so quick and agile they called him the Black Cat. He as also called Black Jesus. Kobe didn't just steal Jordan's moves, he stole his name with Black Mamba. Lebron took his number 23. @@absolutum790 For real. Jordan was so astronomically big, a worldwide phenom at his peak, that its no wonder some players wanted to "be like Mike." Lebron's little chalk thing he does is a direct rip off of Jordan as well. A lot of people don't know that. MJ didn't throw it up in the air like Lebron but he routinely went to the scorer's table and clapped chalk in their faces, so much so that some of them wore a mask.

Larry Legend was a beast and is underrated by most people that never saw him. My favorite player is Hakeem Olajuwon, but I recognize Michael Jordan as the GOAT.
But, as a team, Jordan with his team couldn't beat the Celtics in a big game. Bird and his team won them all 6-0 against the Bulls.
There is not a comparison to Jordan. His real highlight reel would be hours long, he gave everyone the sauce in every game. It was a guarantee something special was gonna happen whenever that dude showed up.

Kobe was great but he was diet Jordan. The thing is, you said he was ahead of his time. The entire league is the way it is because of him. He made it a guard’s league. Jordan earned his points and entertained the crowd. If sitting behind the 3 point line and shooting is exciting to you, then you a chump. If Jordan wanted to be a 3 point shooter he would be the best. Thing is, he could go the hard route and take it inside.
There’s a long list of things to praise Jordan about, but I just love how he always would seek out the contact. He loved working in the paint against bigger guys. He was such a killer.

I saw Michael Jordan play Ball in High School. He was doing a lot of his same moves then. He graduated a year before me.

It was true He was cut from the Laney Varsity Team as a Sophomore. This got MJ into the Mindset of proving the Coach Wrong. That is Why if you told Him he couldn't do something he would. New Hanover and Laney had a great Basketball Rivalry, New Hanover had Two future Pro Athletes on the Team. Clyde Simmons who became an ALL Pro Defensive End for The Philadelphia Eagles and Kenny Gattison who Played Basketball with the Phoenix Suns and Charlotte Hornets
Michael Jordan wore #23 because he said he was half as good as his Older Brother who wore #45. That was also Why MJ wore #45 when he came out of retirement. It honored his brother while waiting to get #23 back.
There are so many stories to tell.
48 inch vertical and ran a 4.3 second 40 yard dash, his physical abilities are what put him on that level. His determination and work ethic kept him on that level.
His vert is still tied for the record, and that 40... as if Tyreek Hill was 6'6" and could jump over an NBA center.
Everybody talks about the dunks and the fadeaway, but that layup package was my favorite part of his game.

We still haven't seen anyone like Jordan. You can find clips from various guys who have done things like Jordan did. But Jordan did them game after game after game. His entire game was one long highlight film... and he was incredibly efficient. He wasn't just chucking up crazy shots... he made them.

Jordan was 6'6" doing this to 7ft+ legit big man centers that could and would body people w/out a foul call. Driving to the bucket and finishing like this was not a guards game in the 80's, nor was the post game. Jordan changed all that. You mentioned his hands, you can find sites that have hand measurements from past NBA players, Jordan's measures w/those same 7ft'rs he was playing against; its why he could do what he did on O and D. There is actually a highlight vid of him that shows just how hard teams started fouling him(specificaly the Pistons) they would hammer him, grab his ankles, club down on his head and wrap his entire body to stop him from getting to the hoop. No flag's or tech's back then for that stuff, just 1 of 5 fouls.
He took a ton of his game of Dr J and E Baylor, and if you watch the Bird ultimate mixtape, you'll see a lot of similarities there also. He was just great, at everything. For part of a season he had to play PG and he averaged a trip dub during that time.
That's exactly what I was thinking. A ton of the guys he dunked on in this video were 7ft'rs.

I just want to add that a lot of people mistakinly think that Jordan would have to work on his 3 ball to be competitive in the modern era. Jordan's 2 ball game put more points on the board than anyone playing today on a per game basis. MJ did not need a 3 ball to do this.

He didn't have to work on it because of what you said. And they don't know that he set the NBA record, at that time, for 3s in a Finals half in the first game of the 1992 Finals because a reporter told him that Drexler was a better 3 point shooter than him. People don't know what a maniac he was. He would most certainly shoot a better 3 point% if he played today.

Jordan is the best defending guard in history. On ball and off ball. Start there before deciding who is the overall best.
The GOAT conversation is tough because of so many different positions and styles of play. I'm a Jordan fan because I saw his entire career and promise there's never been a better shooting guard. I don't like comparing some positions, especially centers to smaller players because they had such a different role back in the day. My favorite way to pick is by all time starting 5 which still gets difficult when picking a center. I have Magic at the point, Jordan at shooting guard, Bird at small forward, Duncan at power forward then at center I can't pick 1. Kareem was great but so was Wilt so which one do I pick? A lot of people who don't pick Wilt say it's because he didn't have enough rings but to me that's silly. If he played on the Celtics instead of Russell he would have all those championships as well. Shaq was a monster out there but Hakeem is the most skilled center and as great a shot blocker as anyone in history so who do you pick? If I was forced to pick a GOAT I would go with Jordan.
The Glove was the better 1:1 defender while Jordan was the better off ball defender.
Probably will never see anything like him ever again. Giant hands on a guy who could jump higher than everyone, who was faster than everyone, who had a killer mindset, who brought all his teammates up to levels they could never have gotten to, who worked harder in the gym and on the practice court than anyone, who had the grace and agility of a giant cat.
In the postgame locker room, Bird was asked to talk about Jordan's historical performance. He said, “It's just God disguised as Michael Jordan.”
One underrated aspect of MJ's game was his movement without the ball. Didn't need to run around like a headless chicken to get free.

The thing about Jordan is his work ethic is unparalleled. Doesn't matter which generation he played, he worked harder and longer, and expected more of himself than any other basketball player in history.

Crazy was his 40 was 4.6 one year and wanted to be faster and quicker, worked on it and came back at 4.3. 6'6", 48" vert at least, 4.3 speed, hollow bones so he could float in air longer😂, hands that could grab basketball like a baseball, next level court intelligence, quicker than everybody, crazy in air body control, and a competitive drive above everyone and lockdown defense; Jordan the G.O.A.T. was DESIGNED to rule over basketball like Zeus. Someone may take King of longevity or stats, but Best Player is and will be MJ. And, he did all this at his size, in an era of true big men that would hack and beat you up, with no ninny "rest" days, or millions of dollars on diets and recovery machines; and he would punch his own teammates for the B.S. girly-ass flops of today's skirt wearing NBA. Privileged to watch his whole career, he's different, this isn't even a debate. MJ=🐐
Im 43 so I grew up wearing the OG Jordans when they came out, I heard you mention how you dont know how he could play in them and wanted you to know. The original Jordans, not the retro versions you have now, were made differently and the cushioning was MUCH better than these retro's have now. The soles were made with soft foam, not the harder type they use now. The true basketball shoes we have now are even better dont get me wrong, but just wanted you to know that.

MJ's resume highlights:
- 6 rings & 6 finals MVPs
- 5 MVPs (tied w Russell for 2nd most behind Kareem's 6)
- 1 defensive player of the year (1 of only 5 guards ever to win it)
- 9 all-defensive 1st teams (tied for most ever)
- 10 scoring titles (most ever)
- 3 steals titles (MJ's still 3rd all-time in steals)
- 10 all-NBA 1st teams & 14-time all-star in 15 seasons (only season he wasn't an all-star was when he came back for the last 17 reg season games in 95 after his 1st retirement)
MJ's tied for the best vertical ever at 48", which was 10" more than Kobe's 38". Word on the street is that MJ actually got measured at 52" once, but not sure if that's really confirmed.
Bruh, that wasn't a pushoff, don't hate. Russell got his shit crossed and his momentum caused him to slip. There's a reverse angle that clearly shows that there was barely any force pushing forward from MJ and his hand slid down more than pushing forward, and it was impossible to generate much force given the angle of MJ's arm and his body position. Plus, NONE of the Jazz coaches, players including Russell, or fans said anything to the ref or booed after that play, which obviously they would've done if there was any suspicion of a pushoff.
Keep in mind that players in that era didn't grow up with a 3 pt line, which wasn't instituted in colleges until 1986 and high schools in 1987. So MJ didn't play with a 3 pt line until his rookie yr in the NBA. With his work ethic, if he had been able to practice with one early on, he would've been good from 3 instead of just average.

Older players were slightly stiffer though, but they had better fundamentals and were less erratic than the players today, not to mention they played with more intensity (from the late 80s to the early-mid 00s). I notice with the players today they seem to fall a lot when they make dunks, whereas that wasn't the case so much back then
And Kawhi's name can be put next to MJ's when comparing them, solely because Kawhi has a similar style with the hands to pull it off. It doesn't mean Kawhi is better or even close to the level MJ was at, it's strictly from a stylistic view. Kawhi reminds me more of Wizard's Jordan than anything. Kobe played similar to 95-98 Jordan, but nobody was like 89-93 Jordan, he was unique and the true master of the game

He was up against legends on almost every team back then and still dominated... the rules were tough, it was waaay more physical, and he still dominated... he was NEVER swept in the finals.... He never left or was traded... he stayed loyal to his original team.... that's loyalty man... So yeah, we know he's the goat and that's because he earned that.... we have massive respect for him.

I grew up watching Jordan, I have not seen anything to compare since in any sport.
Who else do you know who was named Defensive Player of the Year, while leading the league in scoring with 33 points per game? He made the all-defensive first team 9 years -- and still has the highest scoring average for an entire career (over 30 points per game).

I was fortunate to watch MJ growing up. He was the ONLY reason I watched NBA. It baffles me how todays athletes very rarely use his business model. His marketing team was second to none. EVERYONE loved Mike.

He did it as the ultimate taunt to Mount Mutumbo. Mutumbo was famous for wagging his finger after he blocked his opponents shots sort of like saying not in my house. Him & MJ were talking in a training room for the all star game that year. They were arguing about whether or not MJ had dunked on him at any point in his career. MJ being MJ made it a point of emphasis to get him in a way that he’d never forget when they met up later that season. He dunked on him that game & used Mutumbo’s own finger wag taunt to sear it in his mind that I got you & now you’ll never forget it lol. Watching those games were great memories witnessing his career play out.

To put simply this mixtape, is and was how MJ played night after night. He was always on kill mode and cared more about winning the game than any of the accolades he received during his career. He never took a game off since he felt that if fans paid their money to see him play he played and gave them a memory of what the Greatest to ever lace them up was. Jordan played in a era where if you drove the lane you paid a price for it, not like today's game where the lane is wide open, and fouls are called for breathing to hard on an opposing player. I was blessed to have seen him play in person and it is an experience I will never forget.
If MJ played today with the current rules he would average whatever he would feel like. Some 40 or more I tend to agree with that analogy. Jordan was in his own class.
He is the only player that I have seen with no weakness.

No wasted plays. This guy killed you on both ends of the court every play. And he would do it after a night out at the casino without an ounce of fatigue. He was a machine. So it is nice to see people like you, in this generation, understand what this man was capable of and the heights he took basketball. Props for that! But then you have people say he played against "plumbers". No, he MADE THEM look like plumbers. He made many of them look average because he was so far ahead of the curve. Six championships, no losses. Six finals MVPs. Five league MVPs. Ten scoring titles. Countless All NBA and All Defensive First Teams. A Defensive Player of the Year Award in an Era where that award was usually awarded to the big men. Two Olympic Gold Medals. Hell, even a College National Championship at UNC in which he buried the game winning shot. He played in arguably the toughest Defensive Era. Still averaged 30+. And he did ALL of this in 15 seasons which includes his two seasons with the Wizards at the age of 40 and his handful of games when he came back from first retirement (or 14 seasons if we want to take out his second season that was almost completely lost to a foot fracture). Twelve seasons if we JUST count his Bulls years. Imagine if MJ didn't retire the first time, IN his prime. Imagine if Kraus kept them together for a year or two more after winning their 6th. Imagine Jordan having a 18, 19 or 20 season career. He could have. So just imagine where his stats would have been. How many more titles he would have had. In comparison, at 14 seasons respectively, Lebron was behind MJ in every major statistical category other than assists. He had 2 titles to Jordan's 6. Less MVPs, scoring titles and no DPOY. Had Jordan played 19 seasons respectively to LeBron right now, MJ would have had over 40k points and most likely been sitting number one in steals well. And the hardware gap was huge between the two. Accolades for days. See, I respect LeBron, just as I respect guys like Durant, your man Curry, Kobe (who is the closest we have ever seen to Jordan) and beyond. But Jordan simply packed in MORE accomplishments, both personal and team wise, in far less time than anyone else. I use LeBron as the example, because he is the guy everyone wants to make comparisons with. What he is doing right now is great, but look at how many years he has played to surpass previous accomplishments held my Jordan. Eventually if you play long enough, you can get them all. But when you look at Jordan's career with hundreds of less games and where he stands with achievements, it becomes clear just how dominant Jordan was. The argument of the GOAT, to me, hasn't even been close. It's okay to love your favorite player, everyone does and will, but as a basketball fan, you can't deny who sits at the top. Don't sleep on the 90's you had a shit load of great players. Oscar Robinson from the 70's played the way Jordan did, not as fluid but he played that way. Nobody plays that way now. Check out Shawn Kemp, Vince Carter, Tracey McGrady, Mitch Richmond the 90's is where GOD's were made. Dominque Wilkins and others. Jordan was just a little better than them all!

I know you compare him to Kawhi because of the mid-range game and the way they defend. He is like Kawhi with superb athleticism, passion to the game, always hungry for winning, killer mentality like no other, out of this world stamina (according to David Robinson - Dream team documentary), fundamentally sound skills, a true competitor, he always find a way to motivate himself and the most important thing is he will not tell you that he is the G.O.A.T. 'cause he just let other people say it. He is your idols idol. Your G.O.A.T's G.O.A.T..
