First off, thanks again for your helpful video. I’m primarily a photographer but when Covid came about I was asked to live stream a friend’s wedding and have since a done a few more events. I started off live streaming with Zoom and most recently was asked to use RUclips live. I thought I had everything set up and tested correctly, the stream link sent out, and I was ready to go. Early on in the event I had experienced some wifi issues (have since learned to only rely on a mobile hotspot). Unfortunately, I also learned that RUclips live will automatically end the stream if it detects you’re no longer connected to internet after a short period of time. Even worse, you are not able to start re-streaming from the same link once the stream has ended. This required me to have to quickly email out a new link to the guests in middle of the event and unfortunately this occurred a couple more times. So naturally I lost most of the viewers. I looked into this after and it seems RUclips no longer lets you create a static link or the like where you can restart streaming again to the same link you provided to guests. Have you ever run into this issue and/or no another way around it? If I can’t find a solution I think I will return to using Zoom.

You are right, once the stream ends the link is gone. I'm not a fan of that but we always use a hotspot. We have a T-mobile one and have never dropped the stream. We always control everything, whether that is audio for speeches or a live stream. We never let someone dictate the battle space to us, meaning not relying on the venues wifi, or a cell phone wifi etc. You always want to be in control of what is going on.

This problem is solved by EventLive service, you can use same RTMP key unique to the event throughout the day, the guests will receive notifications and all the videos will be merged into one, available for download

So I'm trying to figure this out for my upcoming wedding in 3 months. So I'm testing the RUclips link tomorrow to see how it'll work. I want to go into the church to test it out as well. I know with our videographer and possibly the church, we'll be mic'd. Biggest thing I want to ensure is to stay connected and for everyone to be able to hear. Any pointers you can recommend?

Great question! How do you replace the battery when using a DSLR to livestream? Is there a way to power the camera for say a 2-3 hour livestream?

The GH5/GH5S have dummy batteries. The Panasonic S series has a USBC input. I’m pretty most cameras, I’m only really familiar with Panasonic, have the ability to be powered continuously. We used dummy batteries with ours with an extension cord that powered the laptop and the cameras.

Thank you for the helpful video. I am trying to figure this process out for my son's wedding at the end of February. Can you please explain the advantage of using the OBS software? I have seen it referenced a few times, but in my testing it appears that the RUclips capability allows you to select your inputs and they seem to work without issue. Thank you again for this helpful video and for sharing your experience to help others!

Hi Daniel, I'm in the process of purchasing a Wifi hotspot for my wedding next month. Similar to you, I also have T-mobile and plan on adding a 1-month data plan. Based on your experience, what are the pros and cons of using a phone (iPhone 12, Samsung S21) as a wifi hotspot versus a dedicated device like Alcatel? Additionally, are there major differences in connection and streaming quality with a 4G device versus a 5G device (Inseego 5G MiFi M2000)?

We shoot at 24 with all of our cameras during the ceremony, speeches etc. We shoot our b roll at 30. All of our streams default to 720 regardless of our connection. @@dlands1 We let the music play naturally, RUclips flags it as copyrighted so the live streams can't be monetized. Ours are still up with the claims and people with the unlisted links can still view them. For our highlight films we license music through musicbed. So the copyright is released to us.
