Would love to see more videos like this in the future! Short little plane reviews of everyone’s different ideas, experiences, and builds!
Been into motorcycles most my life…..love the saying “if Harley made a plane would you fly it”…….well, if Yamaha made one I would definitely fly it!! Nice nice build. Congrats!
I watched Steve Henry fly his Just Aircraft highlander superstol (yeehaw #44) at the swamp stol event in Jennings Louisiana this year. That engine and plane is badass.
Bryan is such a smart guy! Love the feature on his plane! Thanks Trent
Appreciate you highlighting other builders and pilots aircraft!
As always Trent you have great content! Thanks for sharing this man’s aircraft and his equipment. Everyone of your videos advance aviation forward. Thanks!
Thanks, Trent, for the very interesting tour. It's fascinating to hear what someone does with their experimental airplane to make it do what they want.
Bryan is awesome! He helped my figure out a gremlin I had with my Model 4 with an RX-1! He was on vacation yet still got back to me and then checked in to see if his solutions worked!
I think Mike Patey should build a kit fox. And see what kind of cool crazy stuff he can come up with in the changes he would have to make being Mike
These two should make a video together
Mike Patey
The whole reason why this aircraft performs as well as it does it because of its radical engine, but Patey likes traditional engines.
In a parallel world, where Mike runs a Burger place - Mike's Patty
This is not Mike Patty’s channel if you want to kiss his ass go over there.
I have a IV, 1200 and am really interested. Great video
It’s cool how that guy just jumped in and was like yeah square space is awesome. I use it too. That’s pretty cool never seen that in one of your videos.
Talkaround, vice walkaround, but a good one. Kudos to Bryan Dacus on a beautiful build.
Good Easter morning from Minnesota!! Great episode!
I love this! Thanks gentlemen!
It's really cool to see the different approaches and trade offs. I know it would be more work, but could he get a lighter set up that is still balanced by extending the rear airframe to effectively extend the tail back?
The radial looking cowl, is just the best looking one!
Always enjoy your show !!!
Beautiful Moment ,Where over Pineview resvoir Utah 3 wonderful Planes Great color and just taking a day flight
I learned about vortex generators on a B-52 in Air Force tech school.
*I love these demonstrations videos of different cool bush planes! Keep em coming!*
To bad there was only a short sound of the plane at the end! I mean, SCREAMER is in the title and that’s it????? Haha jk, I just love the apex, it’s music 🎶
Awesome as Always..Great vid shame was so short
Lets go! Another video
❤
❤
I was sorry to hear your appeal did now go through. As a 19 year Army aviator that is the same procedure we are tought.
Great looking plane and yall have a great morning brother's👊🙏😎
Great to see the variety of planes in your back yard. Now back to work, oh no that’s the wrong guy.😂
Amazing thanks LOVE IT.
Yours is the only channel that I am actually disappointed when you don't use your opening credits... Good video.
Nice paint job,
The cowling looked a little weird.
The Yamaha explains it all.
cool plane just wish we could of got more flying along with it.. maybe more later?
Hi Trent,
That video had nice content. I have always liked the older cowl design, but it wasn't quite centered in the cowl.
Maybe he can try moving his battery aft if he hasn't done so already? I hate the idea of adding weight if it can be avoided. The wider gear is definitely a good idea. The ground loop monster just loves narrow gear lol. The aviation community just keeps getting more advanced with powerful motors and great electronics. I just wish Rotax would bring back the 503 for the light sport aircraft.
Take care,
Be safe.
Bish planes are so beautiful and awesome
Amazing....Thanks Trent & Bryan......
Shoe🇺🇸
She's so gorgeous. Bryan should be proud of her!
Awesome! Who is this guy!! Would love to build a dashboard like that! Let's build navigation next and retrofit autopilot after 😅
I knew about C of G, but didn't consider the wheel spread: ground fuselage clearance in design.
🎀🛩️
Hey Trent! Absolutely love your channel. Can we get a tour on Qunn's Cub? It looks and sounds awesome. Cheers from Mexico.
Nevermind, found the vid.
A plane that looks like that crop dusts around here.... if you watch him fly, he's having a blast.
Awesome airplane!!
This is AWESOME
Talking about ground loops, and how the wider gear is (he didn't say it, but I heard) "spinsurance." :^D
Im building a taildragger can you please tell me the pros and cons of full caster vs running springs. I think it could even be a topic for a video 😉
excellent content
why don't you guys have drag parachutes to pop out the tail on a hot landing? Drag strip style. strait out the tail. call it the e-brake. maybe make a cut-able line, and install multiple chutes.
Awesome Kitfox! Not that the Freedom Fox isn't! It is way awesome!! But this...Oh Baby!!!
Would love more info on Brian and the Apex building a Highlander soon
Search BD Turnkey motors for his contact info
@@andrewstrom2935 I have his info and website
What do you cover the front gear tubes with?
With Tony’s gear on would that plane fit in an enclosed trailer
Did I hear this right? 160 HP and he's only cruising at 90? That CAN'T be right. And Trent... you're is just about the only channel I follow anymore. You've really come into your own with this channel. Keep it up.
Imagine what happens if the engine quits on him… then with short tail, that wing, and his weight …he goes down as an iron… 🙄 big hp engine and a base that is not for it…
@@pawelkozak_com He'd just land it. :)
@@craigsanders6925 yeah… short CDA as similar as plane that is covered by ice. Been there done that.

Do you know anyone with an Avid or more specific an Avid magnum ??? I am trying to learn a little more about them so an interview would be kool to see !!! Thanks for the great content again !!!!
I put 40 hours on a Magnum that I built for a guy with more money than time. 0-320 powered, it took off short, climbed and cruised great, BUT it was too heavy with not enough wing area to land slow and short.
Is that the R1 engine? Four valves or five? How much is the fuel injection system? Would it work on an older Genisis engine??? Thanks Walker
The RX1 engine that he mentioned is the one that is based off of the R1 engine. The apex engine I think was based of that architecture, but was lightened up a bit and of course had fuel injection.
Wow I can't imagine turning 8500 rpm in cruise 😮
I see a 916 video coming on the freedom fox.
I love seeing these types of builds but I personally would not want to cruise at 8500rpm. Just wouldn’t feel right
That plane sounds awesome I would love it ride a plane I have never set my feet in a plane yet but maybe one day stay safe everybody
I had a question that might have been answered how come I don't see GSXR1000 motors in the kitfox?
Love the decathlon style paint job!
Trent, Place your interviewee in front of the part of the plane that your discussing. Please! Thank you!
How much is the Apex engine? I feel like it’s not that much different than buying a Rotax.
VGs on the window probably make sense, or at least won't hurt
In the situation where the wings aren't stalled because of the VGs, the top of the fuselage would be, creating a pocket of high-pressure turbulent air pushing the laminar flow of the wings outward. There would also be an outwashing vortex on either side.
But then again who knows what the propwash does to the area and how big any effect would be after all.
Anyway, talking about aerodynamics without testing is fun but pointless.
where is the link for the aem / apex system parts.
BD Turnkey Engines ... I can't post the link.
Maybe Mike can get an 850 HP P and W up front.😮
yadi yadi yada lets see it
160 hp out of 1L. 😮😮
Did you see that Cleetus McFarland just got a plane? Would love to see a Collab with him.
Could you build a kit kitfox with a Kubota diesel?
Sure, if you want to plow a field instead of flying. Diesel engines are too heavy.
To elaborate a bit on what Greg said, the reason why piston diesel engines are difficult to make work is because diesel needs high compression to ignite. This means the engines need to be beefy.
And just for reference, a 110HP Kubota engine weighs about 700 lbs.
SALUDOS DESDE COLOMBIA QUIERO UNO COMO ESOS PERO NO TENGO COMO JAJAJAJAJ A ALGUN DIA
Trent Palmer. Sorry to hear about you loosing your certificate for 120 days. I know where you can get a paramotor so you can scratch that itch for a few months😢
I wished I would fit in a kit fox. 6’5 don’t work
I’m 6’4 and own a IV, just gotta extend the rudder pedals. A 5-7 I’ve seen fit 6’7 275lb guys
@@KPalmAir I tried getting in a 4 and couldn’t get legs even to come close. If I did manage get them in I would’ve had a hard time getting out. I fly a Searey
great stuff...I'll never buy certified again. Experimentals have the ability to use cutting -edge tech. Safer, Cleaner, faster! Just all-around better stuff. Now to convince the wife that we need a 4 place speed demon AND my STOL plane!
rotax 916 in your future?
Nice ty likes here
Prop video 3 blade vs 2 blade
✨👍🙏
I’m assuming this video is before you crashed this plane and rebuilt it.
У меня бабушка на таком летает
Instead of just adding ballast in the tail, why not transfer the fuel tank to the tail?
Would save weight and allow for increased breaking during short landing events as having the tank lower would help move the fulcrum point rearward and reduce the tipping point lower.
Because the fuel tank isn't always full.
20 pounds in the tail is a considerable moment arm. Adding a secondary tank would cause balance to change considerably as it draws down. Plus, AV Gas is right about 7lbs/gallon so it would only increase range by little more than a quarter hour of flight, given their 5.5GPH burn.
@@PistonAvatarGuy true but isn’t reducing weight of fuel and the tank from forward of CG accounted for to offset the extended weight forward of CG by moving it rearward?
This motor is 10x better reliability than a Rotax motor that you guys are using. No comparison.
The numbers see want are the costs…
Nice talk, but I did want to hear it scream as well..😢
Trent , amphibious floats , change up the content , what ya say
neet
Second
You can't do better than a Yamaha engine, they design engines for Toyota, Honda, Lexus & so on.
With the expense of two-stroke oil, many people are looking to get away from two-stroke engines!
It is a "FOUR CYCLE", stroke, four cylinder, liquid cooled engine. Based on a snowmobile engine that is based on a motorcycle engine, but without the motorcycle multi speed gearbox, so lighter weight and more compact.
Stroke Stroke too much strokin! lol
First !
Le poids n’a pas d.importance???? Ul planet does not tell you thank you,
About 5 seconds of "screamer" the rest music. More plane noises unadorned with music please.
