After watching compete from afar for all of these years, I met Steve at High Sierra for the first time this year. He is an amazingly humble, knowledgeable, and genuinely talented individual and his airplanes are leaps and bounds ahead of the competition. If anyone is on the fence about building a Highlander, do it. And, get your kit from Steve as he really does support what he sells and his parts and know-how are second to none.
That event looks so awesome! Congrats to Steve for winning and Lukasz for second place. Did Ty Ferkin put floats on his plane just for his beers? He's a legend!
Steve, you are an inspiration to so many. Thank you for demonstrating what following your dreams looks like! The spoiler fix may be to interlock them with the throttle. Full throttle releases the spoiler lever up-lock.
I’ve been saying spoilers spoilers for the last couple of years. I had them on my ultralight 30 years ago and they were really helpful for short field landings. So glad to see Steve is using them. Airplane people are the best!
Sarah you are so good at your story flow. What a great edit. It really feels like what I remember of the weekend the way you put the video together. Anyone watching that hasn’t made High Sierra, can just watch your video At least they’ll get a feel of how cool it was there. Love it. Love it.
@SaraHenry Love, love, love this video! Thank you for your beautiful work and memorializing HSF23. Congratulations Steve on your World Championship runs! It was nice to see you both taking YeeHaw out in her natural backcountry environment 🔥 Wow!
You do such a great job on your videos. I was there on Saturday and I think I saw more in your video than I did while I was there lol. HSF is such a great event. Looking forward to the next one 👍🏼
The power that plane your dad built is wild! My family and I live down the street from the nampa air port. Didn't know your family was out of there. Cool stuff! The restaurant at the air port is pretty good
Mr. Henry, I wish I had 1% of your skill! I started flying quite late in life and I’m in my mid 60’s now, I hope I have enough time to get 5% as good as you😀 Cheers from Down Under!
Nice video; congrats, Steve! That looks like a hoot! Also got a kick out of your sardines for dinner; that's one of my favorite "go-to" meals when I can't figure what to have for dinner!
Beautifully captured Sara. Well done to Steve. I think you made all us viewers feel like we were there too. By the way, who owns the Red Bull Carbon cub? I secretly hope they gave it to Lukasz after Dubai. He flies it to perfection.
Steve- great video. I'm not a pilot, I'm a machinist and fabricator, so i sometimes think really weird thoughts....the spoilers. Could you add an indicator light on your panel so you don't forget they are deployed? Also, when you use them, if you always deploy them full on, maybe use a solenoid type actuator and add the switch to your stick?
Steve- What do your spoilers do to your plane’s stall speed? Do you need to approach & touch down at a faster air speed when spoilers are deployed to make sure you don’t stall aloft?
Yes, the spoilers definitely increase the stall speed. I have to land faster when they are deployed but that’s OK when doing Stoldrag. I would never use them if I was trying to actually land slow and short.
would love to make it to one of the HSF someday but being from the east coast it is a bit of a hike. just got my own plane (cherokee 140/160) so maybe I will make the trek out there one of these years.
Alright now you have my attention. I am a sailor. I am currently working on modification for my canoe so I can access wilderness camping in Canada. I love wind and water. Construction: framing, insulation, HVAC stuff, shelter design. Those ALONE series in remote places. What is REAL on You Tube. Not the "jumpers" can't handle that in whatever form. Even those "wind surfers" ~ NAHHH. But here, There is LOGIC and accessibility here. Thank you. OOPS And then there is the Suzuki V Strom 800 DE. Oh yea. And so. A very cool post here. Thank you. ~ You have my attention. ✨🌸🌟🌸✨
*_Spoiler light. Lights up and blinks and make it a printed light that says SPOILERS and make it a red light so it blinks until you take spoilers off._* 🛩
Because Steve's prop is at an angle pointing up when he launches does that give him an advantage in STOL? Not sure what the technical name is for the angle of the prop when the plane is on land.
It's funny because as I was watching all of you race I told my buddy "I wonder why none of them don't run spoilers too." I guess it's true that there's no such thing as an original idea lol
I‘m new to the channel so I haven’t gotten shit sorted out yet. Started with me thinking ”Well he‘s considerably older but I kinda figure out why women might be attracted to him….!“ AND HOW CAN ONE SIT IN A CAMPER WHEN YOU GOT A FIRE RIGHT OUTSIDE???
So grateful to you Steve for lending me your helmet! Racing this year was magic, I'm hooked! Let the modifications on Zazu begin! lol
Awesome! Can’t wait for next time 😊 -Sara

This community is just the best. Every video brings so many smiles while watching let alone how positive the energy is in person! 👏😎
OMG Hal is just wayyy tooo cool 😎😎😎
Congrats Steve! It looks like the late afternoon traffic on the lakebed is the most hazardous part of the event!!!!
@SaraHenry, great video!! Thanks for putting this out there. Can’t believe you squeezed an entire HSF into 22min.
Your videos are really well done, thank you for bringing High Sierra to us I missed this year. Keep up the great work, love the spoilers!
Fantastic camera work and editing. Well done, Sarah!
Just love the content you guys put out. Congratulations Steve on another win.
@SaraHenry Love, love, love this video! Thank you for your beautiful work and memorializing HSF23. Congratulations Steve on your World Championship runs! It was nice to see you both taking YeeHaw out in her natural backcountry environment 🔥 Wow!
Congrats Steve and Team Henry. Thanks for another great video, Sara.
Thanks @steve for the opportunity to sit in the passenger seat of a practice run! It was a blast!
You do such a great job on your videos. I was there on Saturday and I think I saw more in your video than I did while I was there lol. HSF is such a great event. Looking forward to the next one 👍🏼

Congrats Steve, and Sara you're smile makes my heart sing!
Congratulation Steve... Nice to see so many good people having a great time flying.
Congrats Steve...love those sardines in mustard...lol
Great time at High Desert Flyin and STOL drags...Great crowd.
Missed you guys this year Steve… Congratulations🎉🎉 fantastic!!!
That four bladed prop makes some cool sound both on and off the power. It whistles like a helicopter when idling!
Good morning from Minnesota!! Great episode! Congratulations!!
Even behind the keyboard it's fun watching you all have fun! Wish the gyro community was as fun!
What a fun weekend!
Though not a pilot - love STOL planes!
The power that plane your dad built is wild! My family and I live down the street from the nampa air port. Didn't know your family was out of there. Cool stuff! The restaurant at the air port is pretty good
Just AWESOME !!!!! Congrats Steve, couldn't happen to a nicer guy !!!!! Great video again Sara 😉 you're the bomb ❤
Go, Steve!
Looks great fun, Steve beating the young guns 😎👍

Dude you are amazing awesome and great. My hero stol pilot.
Nicely done. Thanks for sharing.

Very Cool.... Nice job!
Love You Guys!
Awesome stuff Steve, great seeing you at Reno on Sunday. Would love to upload a pic of you in the finals.
Excellent stuff bro
Nice video; congrats, Steve! That looks like a hoot! Also got a kick out of your sardines for dinner; that's one of my favorite "go-to" meals when I can't figure what to have for dinner!
Love it!
Great video!
Thanks!
Little known fact, Steve rescued 3 polar bears and one Icelantic puffin while in the High Sierra Fly-in.
Live on the east coast near the birthplace of powered flight but I'd love to get out there to that event sometime.
Beautifully captured Sara. Well done to Steve. I think you made all us viewers feel like we were there too. By the way, who owns the Red Bull Carbon cub? I secretly hope they gave it to Lukasz after Dubai. He flies it to perfection.
What model plane is N669JP? Pretty sharp looking! Nice video, Steve. Nice win!

Great video and thank you for sharing the highlights. BTW, You can’t beat Costco sardines! 😂
Awesome!

@SteveHenry what about deploying spoilers once on the ground do increase brake force?
would love to make it to one of the HSF someday but being from the east coast it is a bit of a hike. just got my own plane (cherokee 140/160) so maybe I will make the trek out there one of these years.

G'day, love the video, what's the music track at 15:45 please, cheers
Steve wins!!.....No Bull!!
Good one 😂
With enough headwind couldn’t take off and landing rolls be a negative number? Wonderful planes looks like a great time.
Thank you 😊 -Sara
Don’t drop the D ring after you pull it, you need the souvenir
My opinion of Steve has changed A LOT once I saw that can of sardines...
Did your opinion change for the better or for the worse?😂
@@SteveHenrybetter of course! :)

Bravissimi super aeroplano un giorno di questi verrò a trovarvi per capire quanto mi costa un H e come portarlo in Italia.
Un Caro Saluto
I'm curious if many people in this circle also mess with model aviation.
👏👏👏
I wonder if Dan Reynolds could land on that sky pad
I‘m new to the channel so I haven’t gotten shit sorted out yet. Started with me thinking ”Well he‘s considerably older but I kinda figure out why women might be attracted to him….!“
AND HOW CAN ONE SIT IN A CAMPER WHEN YOU GOT A FIRE RIGHT OUTSIDE???
👍👍👍
I'm jealous. No, for real. I am jealous.
Keeping your own weight down helps the plane fly quicker.
I am sure the original founders of the Idaho backcountry groups hope you forget where Idaho is.
Steve you could've done it. It is hard but you could've done Dubai
Great shots , but we really could do without the offensive, booming music, bad choice.!!!
Hey sara did trent ever find his dog ?
Yes! He was found a little later that night. ☺️ -Sara
角度を保ち斜め飛行での最長タイム滑空する競技?最短タイムの競技?
ルールが不明。
At timing mark 14:15 in the video, Juan Browne expertly goes through the rules of the STOL-drag competition.
Who cares!
