    one recommendation I have is to get a black light wash, it can really make the colors pop on the terrain while keeping the saturation of the wash and the shadows. they are cheap and easy to set up.

      Thanks for watching! Yes I've upgraded the console since this video to be controlled through a laptop which is a bit simpler to set up lighting sequences. That tutorial is on the cards. In the mean time, happy to answer any questions.

    Thank you for helping me add to my DM tool belt. I am really surprised at how relatively inexpensive the LED lights are. While I have a place to setup at my home, it is not a dedicated space for D&D so the portable aspect of these lights are an added bonus. I look forward to seeing what else you post.

    • @Atmoseeker
      @Atmoseeker  2 года назад +1

      That's fantastic to hear! Yeah before I had a dedicated space, most of my setup began as portable to play at friends places or in the home. You might find this video interesting ruclips.net/video/1Ru0OIpbH70/видео.html

    Where did you get that 86 par led DMX 512 I can’t find it anywhere

    • @Atmoseeker
      @Atmoseeker  10 месяцев назад

      Yeah sorry I think those are out of production. Cheap DMX lights are a bit hard to link because they're constantly changing, but you might be able to find some on shopping websites like eBay Amazon or Wish. Wish will probably have the cheapest, but also physical DJ stores often sell packs that can save money.
      Searching for "Rgbw DMX par light" will give you some options.
      Some things I look for when getting a fixture are:
      Rgbw (red, green, blue, white) led's. The addition of white Led's opens up more colour options.
      Fan/fanless - I prefer fanless because will be a lot quieter
      Connection type - 3pin DMX cable connection.
      Digital dip switch - this is a digital number readout for setting the address for the light which is a lot simpler than manual dip switches. It's a lot more common these days

  •  10 месяцев назад

    Which pin spots, which allow to control the color, would you recommend these days?

    • @Atmoseeker
      @Atmoseeker  10 месяцев назад +1

      I found the DMX controlled ones a bit noisy (fan wise) but they gave some responsive control.
      I have tried a Pinspots that is IR remote controlled which do the trick pretty well, but a bit trickier if you wanna automate them with the streamdeck.
      Personally I have mostly used the white ones with a custom designed gel mount for colour changing like in this video ruclips.net/video/2jDOs_4wVN4/видео.htmlm46s

  • @mk24789
    @mk24789 5 месяцев назад

    This is amazing. Just out of curiosity - how do you get light for your players? These effects are nice but if the players can't read their character sheets without drowning the lights out that seems rough

    • @Atmoseeker
      @Atmoseeker  5 месяцев назад

      Thanks! Yeah I actually use some of those pin spots for player spots these days. Can see a bit of it in this video ruclips.net/video/rY8D1E5sweQ/видео.html&si=Qav71YCyraEolbjy

    Did you use the PAR LED-light for the lightning effect? I am looking for something to simulate lightning and not just use a sound effect.

    • @Atmoseeker
      @Atmoseeker  2 года назад +2

      Yes! That's the reason I started using them myself. There are a few options for creating these effects, but the DMX lights are my favourite because you can control them a bit more. You could also simulate a lightning effect with an RGB panel like the APUTURE MC,, or even some smart bulbs have animations.
      In this case the light is animated by creating a "Chase" on the control board for controling DMX connected lights. I've recently upgraded my setup to use a USB-DMX adapter so i can fire off these light animations from my laptop using an application called QLC+ www.qlcplus.org/ Using the application is a bit easier to get the timing right. I have links to most of this equipment on my website atmoseeker.webflow.io/equipment

    • @paulo.esteves
      @paulo.esteves 2 года назад +1

      @@Atmoseeker By using the app QLC+ do you still need the physical DMX console? The way I understood we can use the app instead having the physical console (saving some room on Gm side is always great idea). So I believe all DMX devices goes direct to the laptop instead going to the board. Is that right? Thanks in advance

    • @Atmoseeker
      @Atmoseeker  2 года назад +1

      @Paulo Esteves yes that's right, the QLC+ app with the USB to dmx adaptor negates the need for a control board. Having it integrated on a laptop saves space and allows you to combine the control with sounds. It's also a lot easier to create animated lighting sequences.

    Another great video! Question: I have a monitor that is built into our gaming table, so we can use digital maps. Do you have any thoughts on whether or not lighting will 'work' when directed at such a monitor?

    • @Atmoseeker
      @Atmoseeker  2 года назад +1

      Cheers mate! Yeah monitors can make it tricky, mostly because it's "under-lighting" terrain, which can work great for some effects like glowing lava pools, etc. I did have a look a while ago at using a TV display with some terrain here if you're curious: ruclips.net/video/Bc2S3QgDLXE/видео.html

      @@Atmoseeker Cool! Thanks so much. I wonder if a fog effect might help give the top lightning something to 'stick to' :)

    • @Atmoseeker
      @Atmoseeker  2 года назад +1

      You're not wrong, fog effects (even just a general room haze) will add volume to the lighting. It's definitely a go-to for me for room atmosphere

      @@Atmoseeker By the way, if I may ask a noob question: do you connect your lights serially (from computer to light 1, light 1 to light 2, light 2 to light 3, etc) or in parallel (computer to light 1, computer to light 2, computer to light 3, etc.)?

    • @Atmoseeker
      @Atmoseeker  2 года назад +1

      Each light has an individual address, so they're just connected serially 👍
      Computer->light->light->light
