@Electric_ Traveller “STUDENT PILOT TAKES OFF THEN HURLS THE PLANE TO THE GROUND AND AT THE LAST MOMENT PULLS BACK AND SAVES HIS INSTRUCTOR” .... That’ll get em...
This was the best video I have seen on your channel as a subscriber in regards to getting a feel how serious it is the fly IMC with no auto pilot! The mental toughness to rely on training and execute. This was full circle aviation on display. Nothing beats proficiency and a master of your craft.
Excellent video on the importance of staying ahead of the plane. Once he realized he had missed 3 crucial things (landing checklist, call-out at FIBUS and capturing the glideslope) the jokes ended and things got serious. IMC is no joke. What a great learning experience. Love these!
Very impressive how he got back on the glidescope. He was also a little fast on short final but got her back down to 65 knots quickly. That did not go unnoticed. 👍🏽
A few years ago I heard that Cape Air, which flies the 60/80 mile route between Boston and the Cape islands, loads and briefs the approach before takeoff. Talk about being ahead! I realize task saturation is a necessary component of primary instrument training - and GREAT job here! - but I've been teaching that in recurrent training as a short flight strategy. Always gets a "wow!" especially when we plan 3 approaches and load all of them before takeoff.
Great to see these instrument videos! Getting close to the end of my instrument training and there’s lots here to think and rethink on, MUCH appreciated! - from KVUO
I was hoping for a Warrior video. We just got a loaner while our Cherokee is getting an engine overhaul and it’s a Warrior with the tail number 32043. Must be the sister plane to the one you fly!
You did a great job letting your student know what he was doing right, and what he was doing wrong!! Those were really good teaching techniques you displayed today.. Keep it up, and I am looking forward to the next one. George
Lew, thanks for another great video. Question for ya: How are you keeping all of those GoPros running throughout the entire flight? Are you constantly changing batteries in those things? I just picked up a refurbed Hero 7 Black and I can't much more than 30-45 minutes in the air before it wants to cut out on me, and that's if I'm lucky. And does keeping the LED's off help with battery life? Thanks man. Have a good one!
I record 4K at 30FPS and get Max 1 hour and 20 mins. Most of the time it’s less.. I just focus on flying and get what I get. If they die mid flight so be it.
Great video Lewis. Is that the first time you've been in imc cross country since working at silver? Also, is the cherokee equipped for imc? I always see you doing these videos in the Cessna, but I haven't seen any in 042
I believe it was actually. Obviously we did it a lot at Silver but it’s a different game in a light aircraft with no autopilot haha 042 is IFR equipped but has a few bugs in its VOR system at the moment that is hopefully gonna be fixed
Hi Sir Lewis! I will start my flight training more or less 3 years from now. What books can you recommend that will help me in my ground school and flying? Thank you!
Amazing student and CFI, mistakes are one of the best learing opportunities. Those Ray Bans looked weird, you need to get over to Aviation 101 and grab a 10% discount on a pair of flying eyes!!!!!!! That was my comment watching through............... then I read your comment!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nothing liking flying in actual imc. Hope you can get his reaction when he come out of a low ceiling with the runway less than 500 feet away. I love that feeling.
This video was recorded before I received the new sunglasses. There are a few videos coming out within the next couple of weeks that were recorded before.
@@Tiago_aviationFlys If people wanted to group-fly, we could all hook our sims to Pilot Edge. That has a facility to use air-to-air radio (and ATC for approaches and controlled airspace and stuff).
Haha give me a couple of weeks to get the last of my prerecorded videos out and you’re likely never gonna see me wear Ray Ban’s like that again. Flying Eyes from now on!

Thanks guys. I need to RUclips algorithm to work for me a bit. Or just put out some clickbait like some of the others lol

That same hoodie arrived in the mail yesterday. Now all I need is, dare I say, is a Cessna!
If you wear it in a Cessna that will offset the positive effect the hoodie gives. You will ruin the magic!
OVC004 here at BOW today. Great day for some actual. Too bad we don't have an ILS. I guess I'll just watch this video to pass the time.
I’ll be over there at some point soon to keep you busy. Looking forward to that haha

Get that boy a knee board!
And a yoke mount for the iPad, so that you can see and use both without having the switch out.
I get cold at work, therefore I should buy a hoodie :P

You should tell the young kid to care about sounding like a pro instead of trying to sound cool.
