We are excited to share this behind the scenes making of the film "Amerikatsi" - The entire film was shot in beautiful Armenia.
In this Behind The Scenes video, the writer, director, cinematographer, actors, set designers, art directors, composers and producers share their perspectives on what it took to create this fantastic film.
Synopsis:
In 1947, an Armenian-American repatriates to Armenia only to end up in
a Soviet prison. Hopeless and alone, he discovers he can see into a nearby
apartment from his cell window, where a native Armenian man, unaware that he is being watched, slowly reveals the soul of Armenia hidden behind the iron curtain.
thank you so much for telling this story of Armenians like my grandparents and great-grandparents who were sent on death marches and exiled to Siberia from Yerevan for 7 years. my grandparents were only children when they were sent on a death march and exiled to Siberia for 7 years with the clothes on their backs alongside my great-grandparents (and 50 other Armenian families) who were Armenian genocide survivors. they all were repatriates to Armenia because they also heard the story that Armenians were wanted for repatriation. The things that my grandparents and great-grandparents went through were horrific and I'm so grateful you touched on this. I cried so much during this film but it was also healing and hopeful in a way. thank you so much to all of you for making this film. My family moved to the United States, which was where I was born. But, fortunately, in my late 20's, I was able to repatriate to Armenia too (I'm an Armenian citizen now with a passport and everything)...however, my repatriation was done very safely. Luckily Armenia today is very different than Soviet Armenia. And, luckily, I have the ability to come and go as I please. :) Thank you so much again to the whole team. love you all ❤ bachikner!
All my ancestors are Ukrainians. I am Ukrainian. My grandfather’s family was repressed to Siberia only because they worked hard and looked rich.. I very sympathize with all the people who suffered from the stalinist repressions, from the bolsheviks.. and from ruzzia. 😔❤️🙏🌐🕊🇺🇦 I’m waiting for this film.
I’ve seen this movie several times when it was showing in Los Angeles. I even bought tickets for American friends and coworkers who went and saw the movie. None of them would have gone on their own to see the movie, since it wasn’t really marketed much in the US, but they all enjoyed the movie and had great things to say about it. I’m looking forward to more movies from Armenian cinema coming to the US.
какой же прекрасный фильм получился !!!!
Очень не хватает таких фильмов в наше время!!!!!!!
Спасибо создателям!
The film is amazing. Michael is a genius. I want to see the film again.
I am of Armenian descent, third generation living in Brazil. I watched Amerakatsi, I know I'm suspicious of giving an opinion, but this film is sensational, throughout the film, I really hoped that everything would end well for Charlie. Without exaggeration, the photography, the story. The actors' interpretation, the evolution of the story, holds us every second, where we laugh and cry. To everyone involved in the making of this film, and especially to Michael A. Goorgian, thank you very, very much! 👏👏👏👏👏👏
I am 62 years old, I grew up with the second generation of repatriates after the Second World War. I will never forget those wonderful days. A great idea, must have a continuation. The second generation of repatriates are still alive, and 1000 stories and experiences are still alive. Unfortunately, these people have been scattered all over the world.

Очень талантливое кино,снято прекрасным режиссером.Очень трогательно, очень тонко ,талантливо о трудном жизненном пути героя.Спасибо за правдивое пронзительное кино.
My uncle was convinced by the russians to go back to Armenia. He was so happy to be asked to go to the country he loved with all his heart! He moved his family from Greece but was taken for no reason to Siberia, never to be seen again.
oh wow, that is soooo sad 😢
Many stories like that same in my family.
