This is my favorite cinema of all time and I'm looking forward to watching it for the 4th time. And everytime, I end up crying uncontrollably. I'm so blessed and grateful to have met Michael during a Q&A. He's so humble, genuine, gregarious and kind. He deserves so much more recognition and I wish more people could know about this gem of a film. It hurts my heart that it didn't do well in the theaters and that not many people know about it, or care to experience true artistic masterpiece of a film.

Greatest movie. I went to watch it without much expectations, but damn.... what a great movie. After the showing ended, nobody left the seats for several minutes.

My own uncle was convinced by the Russians to go back to ARMENIA, when the World War ended. He was living peacefully in Greece with his wife and kids. Once in Armenia, his children were left orphans because he was sent to Siberia never to be seen again.

😥 sorry that has happened to your uncle.
My grandparents went back to Armenia around 1948 too. They told horror stories about those times. Luckily, they survived.
We moved to the States in 1988. I lived "better" part of Soviet regime, but even for me and my generation, it was not easy.

Glad you liked the movie, but wish you had some understanding of Armenian history. The main character survived the Armenian Genocide perpetrated by the turks. he ends up in America. in the late 1940s, Stalin lures Armenian to Soviet Armenia. Many of these repatriates ended up in prison or Siberia. That’s the backdrop.

It’s a great Michael is telling about these times… Not many of you guys in the world know what Soviet people went through back then in hands of Dictator Stalin.
All ex Soviet nations would relate to this movie on a personal level …
