This movie was definitely made by someone who would eat the peach.
hahahahahahahahahahaha this is so funny
It was such a bad choice not to do it in CMBYN film (unlike the book).
she sounds like she would fit in perfectly at saltburn
definitely got that UM class accent LOL
@@thomyorke7622 UUM 🤣
She studied English at Oxford! That personal insight into the student life there defo came through
@@Lucyyy104 She also comes from a ridiculously wealthy family, so she's got personal insight there too lol
you mean 'pah-fectly' darling!
Emerald being a tumblr girlie makes so much sense
Only a mind forged deep in a fanfic tumblr thread couldve come up with such a perfectly deranged piece of pure art
No seriously
This is funny ! This is because my favorite review of the movie is a one star review saying “this is what happens when your influences are pinterest moodboards and tumblr fanfics of your influences.” Spot on.
@@Orbitinbloom19018 they just cant appreciate the art of a deranged, feral and unhinged tumblr thread smh
I wonder if she ever saw all the call the midwife fanfic 😭
she’s amazing. i also love how directors are getting more public attention for their work
Fr, so interesting and nice to listen to her
I truly wish Saltburn were a 7-8 hours series - like all of the characters deserved more screen time
imagine how felix character could be explored in a serie THE POTENTIAL
I'm truly glad it wasn't.
I too would love this, but fear it would become too gluttonous! X
I wish I got to see more of how Felix and Oliver developed their friendship and hung out. The little sort of compilations they showed were fine, but I really wanted to see more of how Venetia, Farleigh, Oliver, and Felix interacted all together. Or when Felix and Oliver were hanging at Oxford, I wanted to hear them talk more.
Amazon Prime give Fennel an original series PLEASE
Thank you for reuniting Carey Mulligan and Rosamund Pike. Now please get all the other Bennet Sisters from Pride and Prejudice back together!!!
Exactly why i'm looking forward to this, Fennell really is the perfect filmmaker to bring them back even if it's just the two out of five Bennet sisters, it's still great to see Carey and Pike in a movie together. Pike even thanked Fennell for reuniting her with Carey as she lost contact with Carey years ago
They were great in An Education together too
They were also together in “An Education”. Highly recommend it
hell yeah, let’s add Jena Malone to the mix first
What she said about generally "feminine" social media platforms being used as digs is so real. Like why is it that when women (especially young girls) like something it's considered something unserious and subject to insults
Because misogyny.
Emerald being a Tumblr girly puts this entire movie into perspective, that makes so much sense
i would have liked to see her react to at least ONE single piece of criticism or roast, considering me and my friends ranted about everything we loved AND hated about this movie for like weeks after seeing it
"I would've eaten the peach" and that's why I like her bc same
She just says what we’re all thinking
First there was Promising Young Woman...and now Saltburn! Emerald Fennell is becoming one of those writer/directors where I will now be all in Day 1 in theaters when I hear she has a new film out. The cinematography, the characters, the twisted dark humor, and the tone are just so uniquely hers and I LIVE.
she really is amazing man
her unique style is interesting
Both her films jus got insane amount of things happening in em & she kills it every fuckin time
As Promising Young Woman blew my mind when it was first released, I'm ready to get my mind blown by Emerald Fennell's second movie. She's batshit crazy and I absolutely love it 😂
Promising Young Women was good, but I think Saltburn is better
Yeah, I love Saltburn more than PYW
@@dlwseattleexactly the opposite. PYW has an actual purpose and something to say. Saltburn is just deranged fun.
@@dlwseattle They're both bad
I absolutely loved Cruel Intentions AND the soundtrack!!! Now that she said it, it’s sooooooo her style of filmmaking
Not only were they watching Superbad on DVD when it had only just out in the cinema, but somehow earlier in the film at the student bar they were playing No Cars Go by The Arcade Fire despite the fact it wasn’t released until August of 2007.
“Lean in to your full sicko”
-Emerald Fennel 🤔🤔
Her laugh is so refreshing. I loved this movie. That end scene was a true work of art, like a statue coming to life. Brilliant. Thank you, Emerald. Keep it coming! 👏👏🩷🙏🙏 Your work is genius! 🔥🔥
*This movie blew my mind. At first I had no desire to watch it, then I stumbled upon it and gave it a chance and the whole experience was a mixture of intoxication, disbelief, shock, horror, pepperings of laughter, disgust, pity, confusion, and a cocktail of other emotions I can't quite place all culminating in a dance party so when I tell people ask me to explain it my only response is "you have to watch Saltburn to understand how I feel... and you might not even then* 😂
I just watched Saltburn yesterday and it was so twisted in all the best ways. I always embrace my inner sicko.😊
I'm happy to see that this movie seems to be as divisive as I experienced among my group of friends. Half of us absolutely loved it, and the other half were very much not a fan. Overall I am totally here for the "deranged cross between Dear Evan Hansen and Parasite" that is seemed to me. It does involve a fair bit of "leaning in" as she says to fully enjoy it but I think that is key when looking at reviews. It can be a very polarizing experience for different people.
Experience wise it might share some with parasite but in the message / morality sense they could not be more different
It's more like a cross between Teorema by Pasolini and The Servant by Losey.
Emerald seems so insanely cool. I'd love to hang out with her. I adore Promising Young Woman and loved Saltburn. I have plans to see it 3 more times with friends of mine when it officially comes out. I can't wait for all of them to think I'm a weirdo for loving this 😅.
Anyone who has the confidence to dance naked for five minutes without strategically placed camera angles/shadows/objects deserves an award. Or multiple awards.
Saltburn is a masterpiece. Emerald Fennell is a genius, and I cannot wait to see what hyper detailed, every scene matters, amazing film she makes next.
Is this satire?
@@getheroutofthetruckobviously not, also it would be sarcasm, not satire
My wife loved it. I checked out when Oliver started humping the grave scene. Just so surreal at times.
Kind of a bummer when they avoid both sides of the rating scale. That’s the fun of this isn’t it? It’s fun when the director can listen to the jubilant and derisive reviews and giggle along with them both. The response to the 3.5 star at the end shows that Emerald isn’t bringing that energy.
Not every person operates the same in all situations. Free your mind! Peace!
This was Matt Johnson’s complaint when he did the letterboxd reviews lol, he wanted to read the bad ones too
Says a lot about her as a director if she can't accept constructive criticism
Oh my gosh I would do ANYTHING for a prequal!!!! Absolutely my best movie if 2023.
Big admission there that she would have eaten the peach! lol
Emerald the woman that you are! That movie was phenomenal
She talks and laughs so rich
Omg I love her?? I kinda need her to work with Emma Stone. They have similar energies
Best film of the year. It was absolutely bonkers in such an original and refreshing way
It’s like a twisted universe that you somehow don’t want to leave
Are u ok?
This movie was insane (insanely good).
I’m excited
Many of the scenes were very weird, gross, and uncomfortable to watch in the cinema for me...
@@ecnalms851 yeah it’s definitely not for everyone , Emerald Fennell is known for her bizarre work though. Promising young woman was also a wild one.
@@ecnalms851that’s the point, snowflake.
@@ecnalms851The film
Is meant to make you feel like that. Job accomplished.
I loved the movie but this one interview kinda makes me fall in love with her a bit. She is wonderfully amazing 👌
shes forreal a legend at this point
I love this movie so much every single bit of it. There’s nothing about this movie that isn’t fabulous I’ve watched it every night since the first night I watched it, amazing !
SAME!!! I CAN’T STOP WATCHING IT
Well, it certainly isn't boring.
I saw it. The world is not ready for this film. It's delicious.
Good way to put it. Not many films stick with me for long, but Barry's performance was phenomenal, and I'm sure this director should take equal credit.
People are acting as if this film is a fucking masterpiece, I'm so sorry but it isnt, I'm not at all saying its bad, its a fantastic film. But I believe people are simply reviewing the film with all the hype still on their mind
Just saw this last night at the theatre. Wow!
IM IN THIS VIDEO SHE READ MY REVIEW
I can’t wait to watch this!!
3:09 oh no, missing the talented mr. Ripley refrence :p
Tornando minha favorita, irei maratonar os filmes dela. ❤ Eu clamo por Saltburn 2, esse filme tem tudo pra ter uma continuação.
Kind of criminal that they didn't show her the Ayo Edebiri one
Going from a role in "Call the Midwife" to directing huge movies. This kind of thing happens often. British TV rocks.
I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic? She’s the daughter of a very wealthy jeweller
@@lizzielwfrancis1 She played Patsy in Call The Midwife for a couple of series a few years back.
She's also Midge in Barbie, so cool.
@@lizzielwfrancis1Which makes sense to why her name is emerald lol
3:47 "And there is no one who goes as deep" BOY I LAUGHED at the pun, and even more when she herself laughed at it.
Prequel Please ❤
her vocabulary is just unmatched
Adore this film. No notes.
6:47 sold
I feel a 2nd wave of erotic thrillers upon us
I mistakenly thought the writer director of Saltburn would be male….the focus on the psychotic perverted male dominant theme.
It’s wild that i still see her as Camilla from The Crown.
The ending was so embarrassing tbh it's definitely a tik tok film love you Emerald Seasoning
I think the ending was a breathe of fresh air and added balance to the films insanity also 🍑🍑🍑🍆🍆
Great movie and amazing choice for Oliver.....Barry Keoghan
I can’t wait to see Saltiburn!😃
And after seeing it, I will write my review on my Letterboxd profile!😉
sicko is here 💅 I loved
the movie
If Barry, Rosamund, Jacob, Emerald didn't score Oscar nominations than OSCARS are just waste or absolutely nothing.
100% agreed.
Rosamund still has a small chance of getting a nomination. The others, not so much.
Wow I’m so endeared to her after watching this
Need Emerald's letterboxd account immediately
I love this film!
That’s so weird that she said she started making movies because she watched Cruel Intentions because I just watched Cruel Intentions for the first time 2 days ago and I watched Saltburn for the first time immediately afterwards! Very strange coincidence!
I really enjoyed Saltburn, such a dark twisted and brilliant film. Promising Young Woman was an incredible film too.
I remember Emerald in Anna Karenina.
I went to boarding school and all my friends have family’s like this 😂😂
Her voice is beautiful!
she’s giving claire from steps here
This is going to sound rude maybe, but my Letterboxd reviews are not for the directors. Like my Storygraph reviews is not for the authors.
They are for fellow watchers/readers who have not bared their souls creating art.
Damn…I love her. I love her. I LOVE her
Emerald Fennel I think I’m just a little bit in love with you which makes me even more excited for this movie
Damn…I love her. I love her. I LOVE her.
No fun if you only give them positive reviews to react to
exactly.
would you want to sit and react to negative reviews of art you dedicated yourself to making?
@@alebarreraforsyth4648if you can't you are in desperate need of therapy before you release anything to the public
@@alebarreraforsyth4648 why not?
the fact that ayo edebri’s reviews ian on here is a crime against humanity
cant believe cinemonika got in this!
I love her
Having to make the disclaimer that this is not her house furthers the evidence that this is in fact her house.
Ahhhh shes so funny, love her skskdj
Emerald please put me in one of your movies 😢 it would be my whole world made
I agree with 100% of these reviews
What u mean by "I would've eaten the peach" 😭😭
make her read the 2/5 ones. she'll really hear the criticism
Didnt she play Camilla in Crown ? Lol
shes so cool
Yes this movie is indeed for the sickos. And i happen to be one of them 😊
she's so cool
nice film, think Emerald is great! But why not read out the one star reviews.
3.5 stars on letterboxd which is fitting
MOTHERRR
Oliver really bottomed his way to the top.
I don't think the tumblr comment was shady
THIS WOMAN CAN DO NO WRONG WITH HER CRAFT 🛐
5:14 she real af
always really nice to listen to her man but i jus gotta say Emerald being a Tumbler Girly explains everything
i want to be friends with her..she is fucked up and i cant wait to see more of her work:)
found my new favourite woman OMG
still in shock she read my review 🫢
I miss the tumblr days.
After watching both of her films, i thought i couldnt hate her any more, this video proved me wrong.
And they say women aren't visual
It was a fun, fun film. I liked it a lot. Oliver outripley-ed Ripley, that’s for sure. Highsmith would have loved it.
trailer looked like every one of these class-based horrors that are standard to do now, v. suspicious that she's clearly from the same social class the movie is presumably satirising and expecting you to identify with a more working-class lad reverse-slumming it
Lol. You couldnt be more wrong.
I just saw it and you were completely right. The working class characters are the antagonists, the wealthy characters written as flippant but well-meaning and generous. She had nothing poignant or relevant to say about class aside from "protect your generational wealth or the poors will come steal all of it from under you".
Second confirmation that your sense here was exactly correct. Abhorrent message to the movie that destroys it from the inside out. Incredibly, incredibly stupid and yet self-assured of its own genius.
I would agree with you if the film were about a ‘working class lad slumming it’ but… it’s not? Don’t want to spoil that here but I would encourage anyone to watch the film for themselves. By the end, it’s not a commentary on working class Britain at all - I’m assuming a deliberate choice on EF’s part to avoid these kinds of ‘poor taste’ criticisms. For me, every single character shows flashes of humanity/likeability and flashes of complete moral corruption, and so I’m not sure if the ‘antagonist vs protagonist’ description is fair (no character is ‘good’ at all).
@@has-990 even with his family being middle to upper middle class, he’s not coming from anywhere near the level of immense generational wealth that the other characters are. He’s still proletariat, I doubt his parents could stop working and continue to live a good life like the wealthy characters could. Once you get to that level of rich you can live lavishly on passive income and STILL keep growing your bank account.
The G in Keoghan/Keoghussy is silent.
You’d think she’d know seeing as he’s the star
He pronounces the G
No humorously bad reviews? I’d love to see her defend this film
But, I want to know, did Oliver love Felix?? Did he??? I don't think so
I think he did, the kind of obsessive love. And the last scene at his party when he understood that Felix didn't want to have anything to do with him anymore he made his decision. Like, if he couldn't have him then noone could. And then one of the reasons was also that he became an obstacle in front of him and Saltburn
@@mariiavasileva44 obsession. Yes. Love I don't think so. Still...The thing that confuses me is that he was trying to align himself with the etiquettes of Saltburn while mourning the loss of Felix. To me it was like, did he want Felix's love or he wanted to be felix or he wanted to own him. Almost trying to embody/worship him. That felt all kinds of unhealthy and creepy. Oliver's character needs deep psycho-analysis for sure.
