Do you know how happy I'm gonna be when Ryan films his first feature and I get to go on set? :D haha Film Riot is incredible go sub them if you havent!
That's a lot of roles...on a set🤯 I and my frnds are making a short right now and realized that me (I'm the dp😎)and my director are playing one or the other role of all the people on this set. I can really imagine how much affort it takes to get the things done. Thank you Matti for keeping us all motivated and great job to all the guys at film riot. You guys inspire us 😇
Wow! The amount of people on set is incredible. I can see why Matti often talks about being a good person to work with! It’s easy to think that you can one man band it, but really to make bigger films you have to work with a lot of people. Such a cool behind the scenes. Makes me want to collaborate on something!!!
I've been following Matti and FilmRiot for years now and this was one joyful collaboration! Great to see a BTS of whats to come and really nice to see Matti working on something different to usual. Great job everyone, keep it up
Most understated but super important part was to see how Ryan and Chase were so excited and enthusiastic even through hour 10 of the shoot. So dope to see their passion through the work and crew.
Our cameraman and editor started learning to create videos in 2012. Famous folks said to learn as you keep create. Our crew are elderly guys with previous injuries, disabled vet, and no budget. So the lights are smaller, the camcorders are 1080p for RUclips production (and cheaper) and we use a trail camera for wildlife filming. Still, we learn from the GREAT behind the scenes filming by the PROS in the business (that would be you guys) and we make videos to help out the community, give creative people an outlet and it's fun in the boonies. Thank you very much for the film about filming.
So happy to see you collabing with Film Riot. Ryan is truly THE MAN and the reason many of us do what we do. Can honestly say he is the inspiration that led me to a career behind a camera. BLESS 🙏
LOVE LOVE LOVE to see you connecting with Film Riot! Been watching them for like 6 or 7 years and have been watching you for like 2 years. Its so cool to see you and them connect! Love it!
Matti you have no idea when i say "This has been the best behind the scene I have seen in a long time" you would not know how much this helps amateurs around the world. Big ups to you mate
tbh this is the kind of content that youtube needs to see for something to aspire to. Vlogs and youtube are well and good, but THIS is what people should be inspired to strive towards.
Awesome video Matti. Thank you for reminding me why I love this job. And for pointing all those amazing HARD WORKING people that you never see on frame.
my brother-in-law works on film sets in Toronto. He tries to sneak his car into each show at least once so we know that he was part of the crew. He is the guy that really got me into RUclips in the first place. His channel consists of taking old 70's cop shows and re-making them using the same dialogue but with plastic figurines.
I've been on 3 short movies behind the scenes as the photographer and behind the scenes videographer, the amount of hard work for a short film is incredible, and I learned a lot with those experiences, watching you make me miss those days
I've been a fan of Ryan and Film Riot for quite a while now. They're entertaining and educational. I loved the bts here Matti! All that gear! It's actually intimidating!
Awww.. looking forward to that short film knowing that I'm a fan of Film Riot.. Good Job Everyone.. My God.. looking all those process makes me fall in love more in Film making.. Lovin it
I also want to say Film Riot is the 1st film making channel I started to follow when my high scool video broadcast teacher would refer them. About 7 years ago.
WHAT A LOAD OF WORK ! AND HOW GREAT IT MUST BE WHEN YOU GET TO SEE THE FINAL PRODUCT. HANDS DOWN RESPECT TO THE GUYS DOING ALL THE HARD (HEART) WORK BUT NEVER WILLING TO TAKE THE CREDIT FOR IT. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
SO MUCH EQUIPMENT!!!! Would so love one day to be part of movie making.....So much creativity involved in such a small area, you must have been in heaven. 👌🤘🙃
Alwin Joseph actually got my first media pass for an Irish music festival. Almost done editing the video and should have it up hopefully Sun or Mon. You should check it out when i post it
Alwin Joseph no, but closer than a normal vlog. It’s a music festival where I was granted all access back stage with the bands and got some great footage. Everything else i have done has been purchased vacations.
This video is so amazing, my mouth was open from start to finish of this video. This is actually my first time seeing a behind the scene since i decided that i want to be a film maker... thank you so much Kuya Matti for uploading this video you're the best!!! 👊🏻
We need a 2 hour long start to finish in depth behind the scenes.. how they write it, how they pick who plays what part, how do they choose cameras and lenses for what scenes, how to they choose locations and how do they set it up. How do they choose where to put lights on the set up. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yeah, you really can do this with a 1 or 2 or 3 person crew, but it’s WORK, it takes time to both think through and set up, and you gotta know your #@%~!
@@johndeggendorf7826 Yea i agree, don't get me wrong i've always loved BTS videos but I do think it's a little unfair to say that "this is how a quality short film is made"...there have been plenty of quality films made that only had a few people in the crew. You don't need 50-100 people to make a great film. Even Stanley Kubrick only used very few people on set and i'm pretty sure his films are quality lol
@@crossnetworkllc Yes i agree with you, i still dont agree with the original guys comment though. I dont think you need a huge crew to create a quality film. Like you said, you must plan and plan and plan. As long as you have talented/versatile people in your crew you dont need a giant crew. There are a lot of filmmakers out there who are equally excellent at doing different jobs on set. IMO it seems pointless to waste money on extra hands verses using that money for important things on the film. I believe quality isnt how many people you have helping on set, its spending the budget wisely and choosing the right people. Quality films can be made with almost no money if planned and done correctly
Really great behind the scenes! Awesome to see the OG Film Riot doing big things. They’ve educated us for years. Look forward to their BTS and breakdown.
Awesomeness! Have been watching film riot since the begining and they really are great. Interesting to see how many jobs are double and triple covered.
Hey Matti I have noticed over the last 6 months that bump behind your ear has gotten larger and larger, it could be just be a sebaceous cyst but might be worth a check up?
I'm a sound recordist on short films. I love being on a shoot. I love watching the other depts do their thing. Learned loads about film making. I learned what a tail slate was the hard way. Lol.

This is a beautifully shot video! Everyone gave a lot of insight to all the moving parts behind the filming process. Whether it's a short film, or a feature length film, there's a lot of things to consider and be mindful of. Thank you for sharing this fantastic glimpse behind the scenes of the creative process!
Great job with the behind the scenes, really enjoyed seeing all the gear and people involved in making a short film of this caliper. Film Riot does some amazing stuff cant wait to see the finished film.
Well this should be a series, because ofc you can't put it all into a short video. I found the crew part interesting but the rest was a bit much blabla as always. What I would have loved to learn: - How to put together such a team? Where do I find good people? - How did they find their location and why exactly this one? - Prepruduction like planing the shots - What difficulties appeared on set that they didn't expect? - What decisions had to be made on set? - And so on..
I started working In the film industry as a PA over a year ago and one of the funniest things is that unless you work in that industry you just think theres the director and cinematographer and its not really until you study it or work in it to realize the amount of people it takes to create something

Very interesting Matti, the guys from Film Riot are absolute pros in their business! I also love that bts concept video, nice idea for your vlog.
They really are and this was next level!
I love how everyone else is being like all friendly with him then he goes to the producer and his response is "producer." lmao

I remember the days when I thought I could make a whole short film with just a small crew, glad you mentioned how many people you actually need!
You can make a short film with a one man crew, one actor and natural light. The scale of a production isn't indicative of a quality final product.
