This is a really great demonstration that the real distinguishing feature of high end production isn't the sophisticated toys but the level of expertise of the crew and the time taken to get it right.
Mind-blowing behind-the-scenes look! 🎬 The level of precision and skill that goes into achieving those impossible Hollywood gimbal shots is truly awe-inspiring. Kudos to Chris Herr and the entire team for turning the impossible into reality! 👏🎥
The first scene reminds of the car chase in The Raid 2. The way they passed the camera through the car to guy dressed as the car seat, then to another person lying outside the car. Crazy work 🔥
It is amazing how this channel keeps evolving from travel feels and travel vlogs to tutorials and equipment reviews and now Hollywood thank you Matti Haapoja and the whole team you work with to bring these videos to us. Thank you Chris Herr for saving time to share with us your experience.
There was this shot in 'Birds of Prey' when Helena went down a slide followed by one of the bad guys. The camera started in the front then somehow went IN BETWEEN Helena's legs to the rear view revealing her on top of the bad guy. Would've LOVED to see the BTS of how it was done 🔥
That was our DP matty hand holding the camera and literally just sliding down the slide. We also had a custom metal track built into the top of the slide that we rigged a remote head to.
Good series. One note, Chris Herr isn't miked or mixed properly; his audio is much quieter than Matti's. I kept having to adjust the volume depending on who was speaking. Otherwise, great job.
Wow. I would have bet money that on the second sequence that was an invisible cut when it passed out of focus the brick wall in the near field. Perfect setup for a transition.
Oh damn this was super insightful to watch! More of these! I was stoked to spot myself in the bts watching them film the Robinhood spot below my apt building in dtla.
That was super cool. Can I call being the next assistant to the assistant to the assistant to just shadow Chris for the day??? That would be so cool. Great interview!
Matti please, as a fellow Finn, you just had to notice that one guy with the "Paskal Lightning" shirt 😂 This video series is defo the most important series on all of RUclips. Keep it up!
Really helpful seeing your lighting setup and different angles! The atmosphere light is something I probably need to add to my setup. Got to say, angle 1 might be my favorite!
I'm really enjoying this new...style? format? of videos, it seems as though you are enjoying them as well! Thanks for your work to keep us entertained and educated.
TBH I unfollowed you and a bunch of other channels that were all doing the exact same reviews of the exact same gear (oh, wait, a new middle tier mirrorless camera!). Then your video with Lawrence Sher popped on my feed, I watched it, and resubbed! I am very thankful for informational and instructive content! I know the reviews pay the bills, but if we (your audience) actually wants to improve our craft we need to worry less about gear and more about everything else! Thank you!
Hi ironic, I just discovered Chris’s channel yesterday because of his Movi experience. He works with Shane who has hosted countless classes on moviemaking. Time to move to LA Matti!
Yo, I started my filming creative journey with you, since 2020 covid times. Appreciate you, for motivating me, because if there were no people like you, I wound sell my gear after a half year. Still wait for you uploads. HAPPY BIRTHDAY
The opening scene in Red Notice is one of the best shots I have ever seen. They did a drone shot to a hand held shot. I don't know how, maybe the camera man grabbed the drone mid air
WOW This is the greatest BTS video ever. You don't usually get this content. Would love to hear more about the decision on camera gear for given scenes.
I shoot with an apsc Sony mirrorless and had the opportunity to use a c500, even it being 15 years old and manual focus…omg I was in love with it. I have my eye on a full c200 kit, just need to save the pennies😂
Matti hello, if you don't mind? I have 2 notes 1. the sound on Chris Herr is lower than your sound, it is hard to hear him. 2. it will be nicer to see the entire original shot, and then break it apart and talk about it.
Loved this one! I’ve done some small gimbal work for a few short films and lower budget commercial work and I can’t imagine the coordination and core strength it takes to do some of these shots 😂
watched the whole thing in one sitting! great video! i know that it takes a lot of effort to film something, but i really didn't think it was this big.
As a Dolly grip, I think there should be a good recognition on the trust of the person behind him watching his back non stop and also operating the cranes. It was mentioned but not specifically . Just saying. Very cool stuff tho!
So super cool. And so nice to see that all these amazing effects are created "manually by real people". One question about the bus-through-sequence: How heavy is such a rig in total ?
Great video and I love your new direction - just a comment, your "yea, Yea yea yea yea" affirmations get in the way at times.... no biggie but something to be aware of. Keep it up!!
I am actually trying to build out a shopping cart rig right now. Would love to see a picture of the rig itself. Mind needs to push in the street and really need to smooth out the movement to avoid it looking like a seizure.
Thank you so much for the deep dive! Its incredible, how much effort and expertise is going into these productions! Matti, what a great idea for a new format on your channel! :)
This makes me want to do some of those handoff shots. Man, it must be cool to work with a team of people working together and not against each other. I get SOOO annoyed when I'm asked if shots are possible, "can we do this, is that possible" because it doesn't come from a creative problem solving standpoint but more from an arrogant "make it work, I dunno" vibe.
I understand u a lot, and that's why we have to build a team with people having the same mindset (but actually as a beginner I'm in the same situation as you and it create a lot of arguments all along the project)
I'm watching this unbelievable bus shot and all I can think is "I swear to god, if I was there I'd like to slap that woman with her shoes on the seat."
Hey there Dylan. always loved your content. I’ve been a subscriber since your 5K. Always here 😁 Quick tip/alert… The beginning and the end of the video it’s hard to listen what you are saying. The music is too loud.
Who should we try to get on the show next????
Christopher Nolan. Shoot for the stars, aim for the moon 😁
@@Leicam10 or just bring back the matti and pete show lol
Greg Fraiser
Me to watch you the episode before everyone 😂🎉
why Chris looks like Danny Gervitz Cousin? or Brother...
This is a really great demonstration that the real distinguishing feature of high end production isn't the sophisticated toys but the level of expertise of the crew and the time taken to get it right.
I mean still a technocrane is 0.5 mil mate 😅 so its not like you can do it with 1k budget
I’m so in on this series . Thanks for providing real value on BTS stuff

finally! some REAL CINEMATIC stuff!!
got tired of the cinematic b-roll over and over again in the past.
definitely resubscribing!
Most valuable RUclips series ever I can’t imagine any other way of getting this insider knowledge! Thanks Matti!

I love youtube and it's content for real bro it's just provides so much education for my brain
oh i love this series, get to learn a lot and this just inspires u to do more and to burst ur bubble ... thank you Matti and Chris
I love these kinds of videos, they are helpful to see how much work goes into shots that we barely acknowledge 😅
Amazing guys!!! I love this kind of videos!! Keep going Matti!
pleeease keep up with these. this series is amazingly informative and insightful. thanks

I think it’s the different of personality, that make this sounds like this.

Love this series. Question: Why is the audio so low on this video?
Best episode so far, lerned a lot. Thank Matti for bringing this series
Can't stop don't stop with these Matti. Brilliant to see the BTS shots right next to the finals 🙏🏻
That was super cool. Can I call being the next assistant to the assistant to the assistant to just shadow Chris for the day??? That would be so cool. Great interview!
BRUBAR. Congratulations to you and Gabs on your new addition to the team! We also just had a boy born and that Bru bar looks like a life saved 😂
That was so cool to see how it's made. Great interview!
Love these videos! We need more of these. Especially with the BTS! so informative 💯

This channel is going in the perfect direction for new aspiring film makers
Love seeing how they do these kinds of shots! Also.... did you guys coordinate your wardrobe beforehand? 😜
WOW!! Those shots look like VFX... that's awesome!!

this kind of stuff is super cool to geek out to
Loving this series
Casual Matti with a $100,000 ARRI camera in the background 😂
I was just thinking about that 😂
Love to see videos like this Matti.
I'm bummed I can't hear his audio, super quiet
This series is brilliant! Love it 🔥

They left the crane in the commercial haha!
Wow. Very nice to see this technique. Thanks for sharing.

Probably around 25 lbs, can’t hold it like that for very long.
@@chrisherr Wow. That is around 11kg. I am fighting with my 4kg rig when the take is getting long .... But it's a nice workout :D
this is gold!
Can bearly hear chris when matti talks
I really like this series! Just one thing, his audio level was a bit low at times! Apart from that, awesome video!
Loved this.
Homie perpetually talking over his guests and laughing

Whats with the guy on the phone (on bus) looking out through the windows, was that intentional? looked like he was distracted.
I guess Matti isn't Finnish enough to chuckle at "Paskal Lighting" xD
I would have loved to know if they shot on a higher frame rate for the second advert? Also how did they not get themselves in the reflection?

The entire video “ yeah yeah yeah yeah…”

I don't know if it's just this imac but the sound on your voices is incredibly bassy
Take a shot every time Matti says "yeah," take two every time he says "yeah yeah yeah.' 😅
