    Always great content mate. Do you spray and roll final coat to allow for touch ups? How much more on average do you allow for paint when spraying a normal size room ( walls & ceiling) compared to brush and rolling. Keep up the fantastic work.

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  2 года назад +1

      Hey Brian, really appreciate your feedback.. that’s a good question.. my plan here was to do exactly that, backroll the final coat.. but there was a texture on the wall, from the initial build and years of painting (which I machine sanded a lot during prep).. I found the sprayed finish really helped smooth out the walls but not so much that I felt future touch ups would be an issue..
      Transfer efficiency of typical Airless spraying is poor. So you need to allow for the ‘waste’, roughly you’ll use 30-40% more material.. these HEA tips and low pressure spraying really help minimise waste.. to give you an idea, to complete this medium size lounge, I used 5 litre 👍 ..Great to hear from you Brian, hope you’re keeping well and having plenty of success.. regards Pete

    Nice job mate I use HEA tips all the time a 517 I can't praise them enough even on new skim no lap lines I set up at 1500psi how did the anti reflex dry I have brush and rolled and finish was good so I think spraying it would be flawless cheers

      Hey buddy, great feedback thank you.. Yeah AR2 through an airless is awesome, dries a dead flat matt.. benefits from a drop of water just to ease the flow, sprays a little higher at 1700 psi with a HEA 515.. but in my experience still lower than Graco LP tips .. appreciate your contribution to the channel, keep in touch my friend.. regards Pete

    • @johnthemod71
      @johnthemod71 2 года назад +1

      Graco LP tips aren't really low pressure I have known them to atomise at nearly 2000psi kind of defeats the actual object of the tip to be fair but the FFLP tips are great totally different do exactly what they should do have you used them at all mate

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  2 года назад +1

      Yeah I totally agree buddy.. FFLP are pretty much my go to tips for trim / woodwork.. in this video ruclips.net/video/wZ8cPWMD9N8/видео.html ..I do a comparison between an FFLP 208 and the TriTech Uktra 208 👍 The atomisation around 800 / 900 psi using the FFLP is just a joy to spray with.. total control 😆

    Why not just spray the ceiling first but when doing walls cut in with brush, then spray walls using a shield back backroll the walls with a large roller and cut in with brush and roller to match it. Saves loads of times on prep no?

    • @PaintHQ

      Hey Dan, thank you buddy.. you could go straight away (I know it’s common to do that).. I just have a break / a cuppa 😊 ..Then go again ..You don’t necessarily have to cross-hatch either, just like using a roller, if you’re confident in overlapping your passes, all will finish up great 😆 ..Hope that makes sense my friend.. all the best ..Pete

    Hi Pete, recently found your excellent channel and subscribed. One question if I may. I bought the Hea pro tip 515 and Wagner trade 3 guard. I put the tip in the guard I was expecting it to lock in the spray position and unblock position. Im guessing different tip manufacturers do them differently. I tried it at 1000psi with water and all worked fine.
    Initially I thought have they sent me the wrong tip ie have they sent me the control pro tip. Which I saw you warned about on another post. I guess it’s me just used to using the Greco FFtips.
    Cheers Pete.

    Hi Pete, Another great video, thank you for posting it - I have a couple of questions:
    Is that a 3/16ths hose you are using? It looks a lot more flexible than the 15m ¼” Wagner (Control Pro 350M) hose I’m stuck with (which is a real pain!).
    Is the Q1 1” tape your go-to when using the hand masker? I had a lot of trouble recently with masking film where the tape rode off the top of the film. I had to keep starting again and overlapping/vertical-sealing the joints.
    Finally, when masking the edge of carpets, against trim, do you lift the masking immediately after spraying? I’m thinking specifically about stair carpets that go full width.
    Many thanks for all your posts, I’m slowly getting the hang of it and just looking for ways to reduce prep time!
    With best wishes, Rob

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  2 года назад +4

      Hello Rob my friend.. yeah it’s a 3/16” 7.5 metre hose, much more manageable.. but still drives me mad when it gets twisted up 🙈 ..Regarding the tapes, yeah I’ll use Q1 1” multi purpose as a cost effective solution on the hand masker.. the only time I switch to Deltec Gold 1”, is in conjunction with 12” brown paper and I’m making the finished line on trim / skirting / architrave etc.. in this example, you can run the guard along the wall and get the perfect / even gap all round.. just check you’ve got the blade on the 1” / 25mm ‘setting’.. you may need to unclip the blade and reseat.. if it’s on the wrong setting, not matching the tape, you get what you describe.. tape running off your plastic or paper 🙈 Tapes on carpet, I generally use the 2” / 50mm SP80 green (Q1 general purpose is good also, both cost similar).. then I wait for the sprayed stair stringers to dry down a bit, sometimes even totally dry.. just don’t want to snag the fresh wet paint work.. If totally dry check the dry paint hasn’t bridged 👍 ..hope that covers everything buddy, all the best.. Pete

    • @amanfriday3141
      @amanfriday3141 2 года назад +2

      @@PaintHQ Hi Pete, so you trust Deltec Gold on newly painted trim? I was using purple (delicate) and then tape + paper over the top of it - you might have just saved me 50% time on this alone!
      I’ve changed the blade length, up and down, many times until I couldn’t see that the relationship mattered so left the blade on 36mm and was using 24mm tape when the problem arose - I’ll be sure to change it in future.
      Many thanks for these and all the other “nuggets”. Best wishes, Rob

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  2 года назад +2

      You’re very welcome Rob.. yeah to confirm, if I spray trim, the next day I’m very confident to mask with Deltec Gold on the hand masker with 12” paper.. use the blade edge (with the blade set on 24mm) as your guide.. yeah it’ll be quicker my friend.. I only use Deltec Purple to mask the ceiling line.. or to mask old paintwork that I haven’t painted.. eg if I’m doing a lounge, masking the door frame to the hallway 👍 Keep in touch buddy.. regards Pete

    One question, that graco painting machine, what is it and if it works well with oil paint or which machine would you recommend me to paint with oil?

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  2 года назад

      Hi Yaniel, thank you for your question 👍 ..It’s a Graco 395 Airless Paint Sprayer, with a hopper kit.. oil / solvent based materials will go through airless, like any sprayer you just need the appropriate cleaner to flush the unit after.. I wonder if a air spray / HVLP system would be more suitable if you’re solely looking at spraying fine finishes with oil based.. like I say, airless will spray it and the finish is very very good with fine finish spray tips.. advantage of airless is you could also spray emulsions.. walls / ceilings 👍
      This playlist shows the use and setup of an air spray system.. with a pressure pot.. you can also use gravity and siphon guns 👍
      ruclips.net/p/PLsoto1xN8d08JHi4iCK6c1CoshB6aC7XF
      A nice little airless machine by Graco, if you’re more looking at trim / woodwork paints with the odd ceiling etc.. is the GXFF (maybe called GX19 depending where you’re located).. there’s sone excellent water based trim paints, rather than oil.. if that’s a possibility also.. hope this helps my friend.. keep in touch.. regards Pete 🎨💯

    water and paint mixture?.....can you give an example per liter each water and paint
    thanx....sory for my broken english

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  2 года назад

      I’m happy to help any way I can, don’t worry about any broken English.. you’ve done very well my friend.. with airless spraying, I don’t typically look to thin the paint.. although a very small amount does help ease the ‘flow’.. so I’d say in this example, about 4 litres is in the hopper and I’d add about an ‘egg cup’ full.. just a splash of water 👍 give it a good stir and you should notice the consistency (viscosity) is a bit easier / free flowing.. just helps lowering the pressure by about 100 psi.. it makes a big difference.. more control, and less bounce back 👍 ..keep in touch, happy to help anytime 👍 ..regards Pete

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  2 года назад +1

      Hi Naur, really appreciate you checking out the channel and giving your feedback.. no problem, you’ll soon home in on the finer details.. I spray a lot of durables but in a matt, so there’s just the slightest sheen Vs flat matt.. anything with too much sheen are more problematic.. Then just double check your setup.. lowest possible pressure to atomise the material and a nice fan with soft edges.. then technique, approx 12” / 30cm from wall, keeping the gun position square to the wall (not pointing up or pointing down).. keep your overlaps 50% to maintain a wet edge.. that should do it brother 😆.. hope this helps, and feel free to keep in touch asking any questions.. regards Pete 🎨💯

    • @PaintHQ

      ciao amico mio.. un .010 (come un 210 o 310), è un ugello molto tipico per spruzzare la maggior parte delle finiture / falegnameria / pitture decorative.. per decorativo intendo una vernice che può essere applicata anche con un pennello / rullo .. quindi sì il mio amico un 210 dovrebbe essere molto utile.. quando uso un 208 o 308 sto spruzzando vernice "solo spray" a bassa viscosità / molto sottile / scorrevole.. se sei smalto è "solo spray" quindi userei un 208 / o 308.. o un'altra opzione, usa il 210.. ma muoviti molto più velocemente.. altrimenti potresti ottenere corse (flusso più fluido con un 210 Vs un 208.. spero che questo abbia senso fratello mio ..rimani in contatto, ti risponderò sempre.. saluti Pete

      Ah nice, try a 515 first with emulsion.. I find you’ll be able to dial the pressure down around 500 - 800 psi less than LP tips.. the atomisation is a little courser, don’t be concerned by that, it’s still a nice feathered patten, and less overspray 👍😆
