Same here. In my defence i will say that we are in a "agad explaining things" mode, otherwise if we are playing we would definitely spot that trick in a couple of seconds time.
No, did you not watch the game? Caruana blundered Rc1 which allowed the b3 pawn to advance. He could’ve blocked with the Knight but he didn’t which caused him to lose the game. He also made a very simple mistake earlier on by not playing Nxd6. So no, Fabiano did blunder this game, if you’d have actually watched the thing you would’ve known it.
Not commented on in this video, I really wonder what was Fabi thinking when he exchanged his g5 B for the N on f6. I've looked at that and can't find any tactical or strategic purpose for that exchange, and it violates the principle most players live by that a B is more valuable than a N in an open position. The N on f6 wasn't controlling any particularly important squares and White's subsequent tactic of occupying the e4 square with a pawn so it could push forward again could have been forced with or without the N on f6. And, the N was covering up the B on g7. The B could have been preserved retreating in either direction and lived to fight again any number of ways in the game. So, is this a blunder? It seems that this piece exchange had a strong effect on the later game (dominance of the g7 B) and had no obvious purpose to further White's tactics or overall game strategy.

You'll probably find that other GMs of any strength highly respect Naroditsky regardless of rating, and recognize that on any given day can easily outplay his rating.
I think the reason he isn’t higher rated and more competitive in classical chess is simply that he has a huge passion for teaching and promoting chess to the masses. He works as the resident grandmaster at the Charlotte chess club and does a lot of coaching, which takes time away from preparing his classical repertoire.
IMO it should probably be noted that Fabi's h4-h5xh6 was significant but not likely decisive mistake, accelerating his loss. In Naroditzky's post-game comments, he stated that Fabi probably analyzed allowing the pawns to remain untouched was also losing so tried to initiate a strategy of removing pawns from the board, but of course what resulted was a formation where Black can force a passer without the assistance of any other piece. If this faulty action wasn't done, then the pawn formations would have been symmetrical and then the game likely would have requred the Black K to detour first to the K side to attack the weakened pawns (which were haphazardly advanced). In either of these two game continuations, the game illustrates the superior Black B which can defend the b pawn from afar while also participating in actions on the K side which was not commented on in this video. This is a good example of the B's superior range vs the N which can hop around only on one side of the board and making that advantage a cornerstone of a successful strategy. Naroditzky also commented on how he felt particularly satisfied when he found his maneuver retreating the B backwards all the way to f8 and then to redeploy on the long diagonal.
Fabio is having a rough 2021. Even in this tournament, sure he's 2.5/5 but he could easily be 1/5 if Wesley, Lenier and Lazaro had converted their winning positions. He's too good to be playing this badly but he's gonna have to dig deep if he wants to bust out.
