Huge fan of your work overall but the feeling and moodiness on this is at an entirely different level. Going to listen to this on repeat quite a few times.
I just want to thank you Jay, it’s you pushes me to buy a TAKE5. This week when I was in Long&McQuade, I was not looking for TAKE5, instead I’m looking for a used Subsequent 25. But for many reasons I finally take the courage and bought a new TAKE5. After that I instantly fell in love into this warm, rich and beautiful sound. I think this is the greatest modern poly synth I can find for me. It’s so good, so easy to use and so well build. I encountered some problems about tuning the first day I bought it, and then sequential support team replied me just a day after I sent the message and problem solved successfully(they said it’s because of temperatures). Apart from this, everything works even better than I’ve expected. I have nothing to say about the sound quality and the build. This is just the best, best synth I’ve ever had. I already made a ambient using it. Just so amazing.
Excellent balance of tech and lofi. The Cosmos is very intriguing, most videos I've seen seem to focus on more obvious rhythmic effects, this is beautifully subtle.
Nice Jay - I like the way you explore and tell us mortals what's going on. The Cosmos looks interesting - maybe when the GAS bug bites. I love the Polymoon - it's now my turn-to delay.
Thank you Jay ......im instantly transported back in time , ...when I was 7 years old .... walking across a snowfilled winterlandscape - endless , white fields - with its sparsely , here and there , leafless trees - the solemn sound of years to come ,- - yore´e such a cool musician,-
This is so lovely! I just bought tickets to watch The Cure on their European tour later this autumn (yeah, long term planning...) and then you play this guitar, totally reminding me of the best of The Cure's moods and atmospheres... :)
Just heard about you from a friend who's a fan. Figured I'd do a quick skim of your videos but about 2 minutes in I realized I was just stuck here listening to this track. Love the mood and the mix of different instrumentation here.
'looped in oblivion' (Vlad couldn't have put it better)......This is such a treat to find, perhaps because I'm just waiting for my Cosmos to arrive....So beautifully balanced, lots of nuance and flow, dense yet also mysterious, I could drift in this for hours....nice intervals, inversions and chords, little sonic additions................deliciously dreamy.......I just love the addition of the guitar.............the whole thing is just spellbinding and glorious...........
Again another great piece of music. Thanks for sharing it. I‘m still waiting on my Cosmos to arrive. Hearing this I believe it will soon become my goto tool for improvisation and beyond.
Nice one Jay wonderful sound and the introduction of the guitar is fantastic. Lifts the whole track to another level. Great chords on the Take 5 blending in so well. Nice work.
I can remember 25 years ago where people was giving away tape decks, turntables, and reel to reels for free at garage sales just to get them out of the way. I should have been getting them and putting them in storage. Nice work as always...
Thanks so much. And yeah, I remember giving away my cassette tape collection in 2001 or something, plus all my four-track cassettes from that era. I miss them!
The only stuff that you have that I have too is the Yorkvillie cable...lol anyway I everytime you release a new Jam I'm always amazed by it. I love Sequential take5 so much, as it's sounds just like a modern classic with full analog feel. I think I'm going to add this instrument into my list for future synths...maybe years later I can own one. Thanks again for the beautiful jam!
The Take 5 is a great choice as a one synth that can do (almost everything). Good bass, good mono sound, good poly, good warm sound, good modulation, etc. Matches really nicely with Yorkville cables! All jokes aside, thanks so much.
@@JayHosking It's truly beautiful in your hand. I have a grandmother and mother 32, all Moogs lol, I was too hurry to buy something before I really know them better. I do save money from meals and coffee for these instruments. Unfortunately they are all mono synths and it's until I see your channel I realized I didn't consider to have a synth that is capable to play chords...I'll definitely go grab a take5 when I have the money. Thanks again for always talking to me! it's great aural and mind pleasure being here with you!
I knew why this composition felt familiar. It reminds me of Ian William Craig - Contain (Astoria version). A real gem and highly recommend complementary listening to this piece if you haven't heard it!
hi Jay! very nice performance! I like to ask do you get small gap in sound when changing algorithms on COSMOS, or when engaging REVERSE? I got that small gap, and I thought it was said that this problem was solved. pls can u comment? THX
I haven't really been switching algorithms during performance, but next time I have the Cosmos on the table, I'll check. Sorry I can't be of more help.
I ordered it from the Soma website same as everyone else. I put my preorder in immediately upon watching their announcement video. Hopefully your number comes up soon too!
as a producer, i wish i had sounds like these at hand i fucking love this so much, this is literally the sound i've been trying to find me entire 6 years of sound design, this is the best example of the sound i want in my music. Now how the fuck do i do this in FL Studio?
I'm floored by the Take 5. Surprisingly versatile, good workflow, great sound, useable effects. There are times I'd like a bit more polyphony, but overall I love it.
Here's an unexpected trip - I (accidentally) started playing this video in a new 'tab', while my new video (uploaded yesterday) was already playing. Turns out that they're in the same key, and totally compatible! It creates a really interesting and crazy sonic combination, ......check it out: ruclips.net/video/ENdn6YnmEjM/видео.html
Not sure what it's like where you are, but some people around here sell commercial listening decks from the 70s or 80s for cheap. I originally chose the Marantz so I could hear the tape head playback in realtime, but there should be some people giving away two-head decks for not too much in many areas. Best of luck.
@@JayHosking Yeah my parents don't really let me buy stuff locally and I'm a minor so that isn't really an option right now. But I'll look into it for later. My relatives in India have a few tape decks that they want to get rid of though.
For me, the additional noise texture is brilliant and welcome.............a nod to days gone by, when listening to almost any audio involved experiencing noise - tape hiss, LP crackles, etc. So nice to be able to include and control it ......texture is texture.......
Absolutely gorgeous piece !

Amazing! Enjoy. And thanks so much.
Man, just two first notes of this blissful pad killed me! This is so beautiful, like I am diving into another world of some kind. 💜
There are quite a few demos with Soma Cosmos, very few have the same musical quality as this one. Congratulations.
This is awesome! Just discovered your music and I really appreciate. Looking forward to listen to more of your songs!

Very nice concept pal! Lot of ppl use the Cosmos like a toy here on RUclips but you really understood this thing well.
This is wonderful Jay! That take 5 is really something.
Nice Jay - I like the way you explore and tell us mortals what's going on. The Cosmos looks interesting - maybe when the GAS bug bites. I love the Polymoon - it's now my turn-to delay.
Yet another magnificent piece of work. Selling the cosmos brilliantly. Must get one despite lack of midi. Thank you...
Incredible! Thank you for sharing. I always get excited when you release a new video.
the cosmos was my fav piece of gear on the whole superbooth. i love it very much and i need to have it. eventho i am an eurorack guy!!!

Oh man! Just listened to this with morning coffee, a massive wave of calm washed over me, the pad on the take5 is something else!
Outstanding, really enjoyed this
Beautiful!
You deserve (and will surely eventually get) way more subscribers.
Just Love The Sound's In This Spot On My Son
Great work as always Jay!
You had me at the old school cassette tape, when those guitars drop tho...!
Gorgeous Thankyou.
Beautiful, captivating and inspiring!! Geez it gave me goose bumps and almost sent me to sleep at the same time.
You make such beautiful music. So easy to be carried away on it. Thank you.

Gorgeous piece of music Jay. Loving what you make using the cosmos.
Been listening and support you on patreon. This is hands down the best ambient content you have put out Jay. You should be scoring films now.
It would be an honour. Working on my first short video piece this week, actually! And thank you so much for the support. It means the world to me.
Insane stuff Jay. The vibe on this one was on another level
This was sublime. Truly beautiful.
Great job ! I love my Take 5
Thank you for this. I’m wandering, but overtime, eventually, it’s going somewhere. Thank you for your music
This was just lovely, thanks for sharing
art at its finest!
Thanks Jay for the awesome music 🎶. Very well done 👏! Mark Bensette Aux Bois 🇨🇦.
That was stunning.
this is truly epic
Wonderful as always, Going to be hard to resist that Cosmos!
very moody performance, love it. still getting acquainted with mine! huge fan of the meris pedals too. the polymoon and mercury 7 are ✨

@@JayHosking So - I you were me - ... would you consider the Take 5 , over the Matriarch !?
That's so beautiful🖤🖤🖤
Brilliant, mate.
This is stunning!
Man, I enjoyed that... Absolutely beautiful!
gorgeous, as usual
Holy shit, this is gorgeous. It reminded me of a moody Cloudkicker and Alexisonfire
Add Stumbleine to that! The second half of this with the keys is ambiant gold
Beautiful and super nostalgic 🙏
Really beautiful!
Beautyful, thank you 🙏🏻🖤
Love it!

I'll take a listen! I don't think I've heard of IWC before! Thanks.
Lovely! may I ask: do you still have the original/factory IR files on your strymon? or did you put custom ones on it?
I still use the originals.

this is very close to the feeling i had when i heard Strobe.
The iridium is a cool pedal right!
It really is!
Sounds really good. Do you ever use the Iridium with synths?
Once or twice, yeah, but definitely something I'll explore in the future. I tend to like things like the Iridium on digital synths.
NICEEEEE
Headphones on!!!!! ❤
This track reminds me of "a warm place" by nine inch nails
Amazing work as always. What is your overall feeling of the take 5? I wanting to get a sequential synth bc they always sound so full.

@@JayHosking thanks for the feedback and the amazing work you put out
what's with the hiss?
Which piano did you use on yr tape recorder?
Maan that s a really fat PAD :))
How do you get access to so much nice gear? lol
I sell the stuff that isn't working for me!
Hope doesn't come up weird, but I am proud
Great music as always! I would like to try SOMA cosmos❤️ I am currently using the Gauss Field Looper on my iPad to create a similar atmosphere
I'll check this out!
