Duran Duran - Save a Prayer // Ambient Reinvention (Iridium, RYTM, DAW)

- It's been a while since the last one I did of this series. Nice to get this one done and dusted finally. Another ambient/electronic/instrumental take on an 80s hit tune. Most of this track is created in the DAW, with software, I'm just playing an ambient pad on Iridium live and the lead part (Omnisphere) on the higher keyboard split.
Recorded direct to DAW.
Video shot on a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4k with a 15mm Leica Prime lens. Editing and colour grading done in Da Vinci Resolve.

Back in the 80s I was at a friends wedding. One of his friends was a stunningly beautiful girl who I danced with to the original track. The electricity between us was amazing. This new version brings back all those wonderful memories and feelings from year’s ago. I wonder if she listened to this track she would remember the same emotions? Thank you for the memories and the jump back in time. In the 80s we dreamed of the future-not realising it was the future- Bravo sir I’m young again 😁
ill go ask her :)
@@djjuno106 lol, when the electricity was amazing...just not amazing enough to stay in contact... ; )
Where is she ?
Hypergamy means probably not.
I miss the 80’s! Best years of my life, with so many great memories 🤘🏻
Been a Duran Duran for 40 odd years and this has to be the coolest rework of Save A Prayer I've ever heard. 👍👍
Thank God someone said what this melody was. It was driving me crazy. Save a Prayer - Duran duran.
This dude is a genius, why is he not super famous in the music industry?
Fame ruined many a musician. Just sayin’.
The majority do not appreciate musical wizardry. Garbage for the masses.
@@BubbaSatori ll
@strangerhythm VERY true. They're selling the "brand" AKA the musician/artist/band. But now everyone and every band has to become a "brand" or apparently there is no money to be made with the exception of touring or if you're extremely extremely blessed with #1 hits all across the world.
I'm not in The biz so don't quote me. I just watch a lot of interviews and could be very very wrong.
@@SonicDualityhere here totally agree 👍😎👍🇬🇧 Sept twenty three
I remember how much I enjoyed the original by Duran Duran. I am enjoying this a lot more. There were so many great songs that came out in the 80's.
Awesome....Great Space trip in the 80s. Nick Rhodes must be proud how amazing this "Save a Prayer " Riff sounds today. 👍
Always ...always GOOSEBUMPS no matter what you do....
mee too!
@@ommachines8201 me three!!
Just Fantastic State! Nick Rhodes...the Synth Wizard of the 80's. Got me into music & synths. I even ended up buying a Jupiter 8. Great rework of a classic right here State!!
One of my brothers got me into Synergy. I have loved the synth since just before my teens.
A truly remarkable cover version of this eighties classic, beautifully haunting and poignant. Very powerful indeed. Wonderful wonderful wonderful. 🙏❤🇬🇧❤🙏 dec 2021
One of my most loved songs from the 80s🙏🙏🙏
This is amazing... Big nostalgy of a far era where everything was much more real and we were much more true. 80s i really miss you.
to add to the entire space vibe feeling, that decked desk there looks liek a starship dashboard
Especially from 3:14 I start drifting into another realm. Just awesome sounds. This is the future of music. Thank you so much. You are a musical genius
Memories come flashing back.... the last song of the night... perfumes in the air.... the fog machine on to long.... the clove cigarettes... and a buzzing tingling sensation all throughout my body.
It's magic! Cry, Nick Rhodes!
Oh, fantastic! THE song that got me into synths! Love the manic delays, the crazy glidey lead, the mellow middle section and the silky pads at the end!
Your reimagining of these classic 80’s tunes is just gold every single time. Keep them coming. :)
A stunning interpretation with pinpoint key changes, and a perfect outro. Nice work Sir.
You are extremely talented my friend, keep up the great work. Music to my ears.
Truly sublime, my good man.
I've always liked this track.
"Save it 'til the morning after."
Gorgeous. Well executed , sympathetic yet different from the original.
Oh and I have shared this on several Duran Duran related Facebook pages I belong to, so hopefully this gets more views by fans
This one went deep!
Would love to hear Nick Rhodes take on this rendition - personally I absolutely f*kin love it!!!
I hit Like before I'd even listened to it and was totally validated for the impulse. Your covers are all sublime and this is a particularly inspired choice. Please carry on.
Couldn't have said it better myself. :)
Anything this man does is worth listening to. He taps deep into the neural streams.
Nice. One day someone is going to make the version I keep hearing in my head - the blissed-out one with Indian percussion and silver flute, as well as dreamy syncopated synth arps and incredibly lush, widescreen pads.
Good music is nourishment for the soul!! Soulfood!!
Another masterpiece, SA; nice to see that you haven't lost your touch! So many wonderful songs from the 80s, and you know how to cover them so well. (See "In the Air Tonight" with Syberlilly for one of the best examples anywhere.) Thanks again for sharing your genius with us.
Simply Amazing , Save a Prayer a great Duran Duran track, also i love The Chauffeur
Yes. The Chauffeur is more haunting. Probably my favorite DD song.
Amazing! Great!
Genious. I knew from the very moment I heard it the first time it wa
s an universal timeless song.
Ooooh Duran Duran....time machine back to my youth in the 80s. :) Nice job!
This has always been one of my fave songs from the 1980s but your interpretation on it adds 1000 extra levels of genius. Thanks for this; I've sent this to most everyone I know.
Love the shuffle of the drum beat btw
Thanks for sharing. Your version feels richer in sonic textures than the original and brings it back to life in wonderful way.
Now this is a brilliant alternative mix.
No one has been able to remix the original as it was that good.
You've done it justice with this version.
Can't wait to to go on a drive at night and have this on
The 80s in a new jacket ✨👌✨
Very beautiful, I need much much longer version.
Awesome track. I like these 80's reinventions.
WOW! This is absolutely GORGEOUS! Well done! And PLEASE! Waiting For A Girl Like You by Foreigner!
Drums are warm and sound human. Nice.
My favorite Duran Duran song ❤ well done, my friend.
This is fast becoming on of my Fav channels
Sublime. More to be experienced than listened to. My wife is a tremendous fan of DD and I know she'll appreciate this. Thank you.
You have greatly influenced a music project I have been working on for 2 years. Best find on the internet today for me. Thanks so much!
Glad to hear that! Thank you!
Excelente versión de un icono de la música de Duran Duran y de la saga Misión Imposible
This. I. Like. Re-imagining a classic is brave but your channel produces the goods
Very very special way to bring into your style one of the best 80s pop songs! Great, i love your sound!
This is a sweet take on the 80s classic, done with the usual high quality by SA that we love. I like all the parts and also the outro was especially nicely done here! Well worth supporting and listening, and I hope many others will discover SA in their musical journeys with tracks like these!
Superb rendition. Great ambiance created here, visual and audio together.
I have really been digging the Rio Album lately and this puts my favorite track from the album on another level. Love it
My favorit Duran Duran song
I love the original! And i think this is an enchanting interpretation of this wonderful song!!
Wow! Thanks again to State Azure once again for reimagining Save a Prayer. Of course the Duran Duran is brilliant, but this takes it to another level.
Maybe Save a Prayer could be re-released with this set to Simon Le-Bon's vocals as a bonus extra to a 12" single maybe??
One of my favs of DD - what a surprise to XMas, Thanks!
I'll make a background music of it to my next motorcycle trip video ;-)
took some shrooms and listened to this song. I laid down and closed my eyes and felt like a weight was placed on my chest. it was as if the mushrooms were asking me to be as still as possible so I could observe everything they were about to show me with complete concentration. during the song, every note, rhythm, and melody from each instrument broke open and separated as if I was able to see and hear with precise clarity each intricate detail of them as a whole but individually at the same time...and the longer the song went on, the deeper I went into what appeared to be this gigantic cave or tunnel that kept expanding and morphing into the most beautiful patterns and shapes and colors that cannot be described with words. it was as if I was inside the music and the machines and the force that causes human creativity. it was a blessing to be shown this. this rendition of one of my favorite tunes is beyond amazing. thank you.
That sounds awesome, wish I could try shrooms sometime in my life.
Try some DiMiTry instead. Did that with "Love on a Train" coupled with a Mandelbrot zoom...2 thumbs up.
@@Headbob1969ah yes.. some good ol' spirit molecule would be mighty fine paired with SA's tunes as well 👌🏼
amazing rendition of a classic! you are the arpeggio master.
Instant transport out of Covid hell to Sri Lanka, frolicking with elephants among the lush temples! Thank you! ♥
Love it, takes me back to better times.
Amazing.Love 80s all music still in my heart 🙏♥️
*Super Smooth!* ⭐😃👍
This is simply gorgeous.
I started playing piano at 8
I feel your songs in my body, mind and soul.
Powerful, yet gentle. Wow. Who are YOU?
Thanks so much!
I see a lot or work went into this...would have liked a shot of the DAW performing its track playback!!....lovely stuff!
Oh this is GOOD, you done GOOD,My Man.Respect.💯😎
Duran Duran + State Azure = The Cosmos Sound!
love your cover versions...and the gear looks great in the dark
Yeah dude, your stuff is really good. Reading some of the comments tells me that others feel the same. You are able to transcend, through your music and really move people. Great job!
I think Nick would approve ;) Maybe next ... a reimagining of The Chauffeur?
Hi! I absolutely love this video! Duran Duran is definitely one of my favorite bands! It’s a beautiful song and you took it to a whole new level! Thank you so much for the upload! 😍
Thank you!
As a teen in the 80s I was always attracted to the more unusual or "exotic" synth sounds heard in popular music - this is a great example from the Duran Duran library! Similarly... "The Chauffeur" (sp?) also has great synth sounds. In 83-85, was listening to a lot of Duran Duran, The Fixx, Thomas Dolby, Depeche Mode, Tears for Fears of course... nice cover of this song!
PS: Duran Duran was my first second "real" concert in 1984 -- I took my little brother after graduating and just before shipping out to Basic Training in the Army ;)
Duran Duran meets Tangerine Dream 😁 Very good Mr State 👍
This is truely wonderful!!
Amazing Teleport
sounds great. Reminds me of the music John Carpenter made for his movie
Escape From New York
FLAWLESS.
You are keeping me from trying to learn to make ambient music on my Circuit Tracks (probably not quite made for that, but I wanted easy and somewhat self contained), because you are making the type of ambient that I wanted!
Thanks so much, Jim! I'm not familiar with the Circuit Tracks at all, but best of luck!
Absolutely stunning.
wow this is amazing work
Still getting better and better with every loops of listening giving. Kudos!
Wow! This gave me chills listening. It took me back. Loved it! Well done!
Wow! Just fantastic. 👍👏👏👏
Much more like this please 😊 ex. Japan - Ghost
Brilliant re-invention of a classic track; no more to say! 🙂 Also love to watch you tinkering around with your equipment; very envious of the fantastic studio set-up you have! 🙂
Thanks, Andy!
@@stateazure Just wish I could afford some of that kit meself! 😉
Nothing short of freaking awesome 💜.
How did I miss this brilliant work! Great!
pure warm nostalgia. Thank you State
Amazing talent.
That was an amazing interpretation
Back again..Utterly brilliant piece of music i get lost in this
Love it!
An utterly fantastic rendition of this song and what a way to make something sound so trance like, spell binding, this played loud is euphoric Thanks State Azure
One can imagine that Nick Rhodes was kept on a tight lead so that Duran Duran didn't go the way of other Art-school bands where the supremely talented synth guy goes rogue - I'm looking at you Roxy Music.
When your favourite ambient channel drops a Banger! ❤
This gave our home so much joy. We know it. But it is sooo much better when you produce it. Cheers from 🇨🇦! 🇨🇦 🇨🇦
The Chauffeur was my fave DD track, love to hear your take on this Mr Azure. Love on a real train is my fave of yours still. Regards
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed this one!
Everything about this is amazing! 👏 💙
Outstanding take on one of my all-time favourite songs 👏👏👏
Simply perfect 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Fantastic! Thank you for demonstrating just how magical soft/hard synths can be. Subscribed.
This cover is absolutely stunning ❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏 chills throughout my whole body ❤️❤️❤️
