  • Sound designer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Lisa Bella Donna journeys through the world of analog sound with an arrangement of vintage and modern analog synthesizers in this exploration filmed in the Moog Sound Lab.
Inspired by live synthesizer performances of the 1970s, the inimitable synth sorceress integrates the classic Moog Synthesizer lllP with Moog One, Subsequent 37, Subsequent 25, and the complete Moog semi-modular family (Matriarch, Grandmother, Mother-32, DFAM, and Subharmonicon), highlighting their connectivity and the possibilities of personal orchestration.
"As a longtime electronic music composer and sound designer, I have always regarded my synthesizer studio as a personal 'sacred space.' A special place where I can be free and open to create whatever music that needs to vessel through in the moment. To explore the wild, wonderful wilderness of sound and synthesis. A place to find inspiration and to evoke artistic ascension. To create and to be playful in the process. I wanted to project a piece that expressed my happiness and gratitude to get to be creative with my friends and colleagues at Moog. It's always so much fun to bounce ideas and create a special atmosphere together, each time we have the opportunity to create these videos." - Lisa Bella Donna

This is something I was talking bout the other day. The only thing I can come up with, is that she either doesn't want it or she doesn't know how to go about getting it. She should be playing 3k seats a night; like Nils Frahm. But, she's doesn't tour nor does she position her brand for the general public. She seems to only direct her music towards synthesists.

62 years old now. started to listen Klaus Schulze when i was 12. Got Stockhausen, Terry Riley, Fripp, Eno, Pierre Henry, blues, jazz, gospel, whatever got through my ears because i wanted to hear "everything' in my life, which is quite impossible. So when i get stuck for a while with an artist such as Lisa or others, it means it touches me, "itches" my brain and gets my attention....you know what i mean. It's good to experience a challenge again.......

@@bozone8891 Sure, ya. I assume it's been edited, and it obviously took tons of preparation and talent to pull off, but still... such a good jam, song, whatever you want to call it. Someone could technically call this a commercial for Moog. Some genius was like, "What if we used our ad budget to make videos that people actually want to watch? We could commission good artists, and build a performance space for them, and help promote each other. The artists can show what can be done with our instruments, and we can introduce them to a wider audience." "Oh, yeah okay, I guess that's better than trying to trick people, like in a normal commercial. Let's do your idea, instead."

I also like that you are doing all this in a cross legged position and move around the keyboards very gracefully. This gives a feeling different from when standing over a keyboard or sitting in a chair. It adds at least a touch of meditation to what you are doing.
