The fact that their voices when they say "zjierb" and "zjierbness" sound like a text-to-speech program adds so much comedic value
You oughta make it clear how something is pronounced when introducing it into the English lexicon
i choose to believe that BDG was playing scrabble, drew “zjierb”, and had to try to find a way to make it into a real word
I hope so
Wish I had the superpower to interpret things this way.

subversion of expectation at its finest
The real reason Brian left Polygon was because they wouldn’t let him wear that ensamble of fur coat, mesh shirt and latex pants. Be free to do you, sweet prince

I thought he left because he could make 20k a month just being his own boss.

Right the book changing made me go "neat, nice little continuity joke" but the fact there's no reflection of karen in the microwave but its perfectly centred on where shes sitting is fucking my day up
I think she's filming Brian, and thus isn't on the couch for those shots.
Ghost karen
I dont really know what youre on about because the microwave is clearly *NOT* in line with her BUT I have made the discovery that BDG and I share the same microwave.
@@Silver-Rexy There's one perspective from right next to Karen, and another closer to Brian in the kitchen. From the kitchen perspective, you can see a reflection of the fox pillow next to Karen but you can't see her next to it.

I noticed that as I read this comment omfg

I like to think that it isn't a continuity error, but that she's just so fast of a reader that she's finishing each book and moving to the next.

Karen's expression at 1:54 says so much about what living with Gilbert, Brian David is like. Love, and compassion, combined with an absolutely earth-shattering amount of patience.
m.ruclips.net/video/KGGRk5QEv6w/видео.html
You say that like she's not low-key exactly the same way. The book-changing gag was probably her idea.
@@FanNotANerdI did not notice that at all until you pointed it out. It might be because I always watched this video on my phone, but I never paid enough attention to that part of the screen to acknowledge the shape, color and size of her book changing with each returning shot. And I've watched this video at least 7 different times since it's release.
I like that brian owns leather pants, a fur jacket, and a see through blouse and somehow I know he already owned them before he made this video.
He had the outfit sitting around, then it snowed and he thought "it's time".
That's not a coincidence I think he had the jacket for the pepcorn video unless that came out after this I forgot
it’s the way brian de-aged like six years by cutting his hair and shaving
I always felt like the moustache made him look like a kid cosplaying his own dad. That’s meant as a compliment, BTW 🥸
it feels... Fresh. Anti-zjierb. Maybe even blourg.
@@_mels_ blourg [adjective]: unexpectedly satisfying in a way that removes zjierbness
He looks like Steve from blue clues now and I am here for it
He only ages via hair growth
Zjierb - when you expect a result but instead get something different and you are neither satisfied nor disappointed by the new result, but rather conflicted and compelled to sing
i dont think he is conflicted, i think he hates biting into that pickle, but just cant describe it
I think the feeling is related to his schema ("a pattern of thought or behavior that organizes categories of information and the relationships among them") of pickles being disrupted. Most of the time when you bite into a pickle it's crisp, but this squishiness has defied that and now he has to rethink his expectations
Mild disgust
As someone who has bitten into a squishy pickle the closest emotion to zjerb is despair
Like when you think a drink is sweet tea, but it's unsweetened. Suddenly you have to reconsider everything.
The switching between major and minor to represent his conflicted emotions is one of the smartest touches I've heard in a comedy song like this.
BDG is cool like that
Where?
I love how, when Brian begins the vigorous snapping as prelude to a song, Karen’s face is just “oh, here we go again.”
This is just a regular day in the Han-Gilbert household.
*_Man has existential crisis over the rigidity of his pickle._*
Man problems. Classic man problems.
Pickle turgidity has always been one of man's issues, since his first did the pickling.
been there
Wouldn't be the first time.
I think the pickle was just a cover up for his actual problems with socializing with other his peers and other people. As you can see in the first scene he uses the rigidity of the pickle as an excuse to start up a conversation. His problems are deeper than what you might see in the surface. Take for example the pickle. On the outside it might seem rigid, solid and crunchy, but when you investigate deeper, it is quite the opposite. I think the moral of this video is you might never know what a person is going through or what problems they are currently experiencing. But if you look closer and bite deeper, you will see how much different person they might seem outside compared to the inside.
It's becoming increasingly clear to me that Polygon was dampening his true power all these years
there's no putting the pandora back into that box
"are you holding your bdg back from their true intentions? the answer is always yes."
@Taryll Moore that's really sweet and also probably more accurate
The moment the Waluigi unraveled video dropped I knew brian had so much more potential than what showed.
@Taryll Moore except his videos were also wonderful before he worked at polygon
the good old musical law
if you can’t express it, you say it
if you can’t say it, you sing it
if you can’t sing it, you dance it
If you can’t dance it? You die
There's such a catharsis to this video. From the frustration of not knowing the word, to taking out that frustration through song, dance, and wearing a ridiculous outfit, to returning to the world with the word you sought. It's an entire hero's journey and I am here for it.
Karen changing books every shot implies that a lot of time has passed and BDG has just been talking about squishy pickles the whole time and I don’t know what type of feeling that makes me feel
Zjierb?

zjierbness :)
Mh. I'm indifferent.
I to can read through several books at a time while a friend tries to describe the feeling of biting into a pickle that was squishier than they had originally thought.

"I'll let my body confess the names that I cant express, yes it's time for the dream ballet" -brian david gilbert pokerap
It's a Dream Ballet!
Oh lord, it’s a dream ballet
Exactly this
And when you cannot express it with dancing, when you can't do that, you find someone to make a meme for you.
There are two possible implications made by this song
1) Brian has never bitten into a pickle that’s a little squishier than he thought it would be in front of someone
2) Brian breaks into song and dance every time he bites into a pickle that’s a little squishier than expected and then he forgets about zjierb the moment before he does it again
I watched this once, a year ago, the day it was posted and if you had asked me to recite a single line I couldn't have done it. Then I recently bit into a pickle that was a little squishy and this song started blasting in my head in perfect detail like it was an activated sleeper agent. How did it wait inside my brain for the perfect moment to strike like that.
Polygon was created to contain him so he could never reach his full potential. They have failed not only themselves, but all of humanity.
Polygon was protecting the masses from the ensuing madness that one experiences upon being exposed to such raw, unadulterated truth.

Zjierb: A shortening of the word "Zjierbose"
Definition: The feeling when something subverts your expectation, but not the extent of anger, disgust, or sadness.
Aka that feeling when you bite into a pickle that's squishier than you were expecting.
I disagree, I would suggest that it is not about a quantitative difference as is implied by "to the extent" but it is a fundamental, qualitative difference. The zjierbness can be more or less, it still wouldn't make you feel disgusted, angry or otherwise. It is a feeling like (but not the same as) expecting there to be ground where you step but slightly falling/stumbling, due to a misassumption regarding the height of the ground. It is a metaphysical betrayal of some sort.
@@TheDocfri my theory is that Zjierbness is a form of betrayal, but in the same way that apathy would be a muted, less significant form of sadness, zjierbness is a less significant, muted betrayal - you feel like you were promised something, a crisp pickle, and somebody has broken that promise, but the lack of a ‘somebody’ makes the full extent of betrayal unable to be felt, thus leaving a feeling of lingering zjierb.
@@TheDocfri Your existance is valued.
@@tadhgknight3484 Therefore, zjierbness is an authorless and aimless betrayal because it is happening only by the mere existence of something ordinary being ordinary in its ordinary form without this being expecting to be the cause of a betrayal and you, the receiver of that betrayal, knowing very well that the being could be subpar but still going with some expectation. Dare I say, it could be a sense of disappointment for having high hopes about something very possibly underwhelming that you have some attachement to.
Could also be used in a situation like ''Not gonna lie, that heterosexual, single-occurence intercourse with Chad was pretty zjierb last night.''
