I think something that doesn't get talked about enough on these videos is Brian's attention to detail when it comes to captions. I need them on anything I'm watching to understand everything being said, but Brian's are always timed perfectly, painstakingly transcribed, and usually with some funny easter eggs for those of us who use [CC]. The captions on this video, though, so fluidly become part of the creepy vibe. Honestly, if you're deaf and watching this I'd imagine you get basically the same experience as those of us with hearing.

If you go frame by frame at 5:22 (using comma and period), when BDG responds to Dorian uncovering his mouth, you can see that he no longer has a mouth. Beyond that, the glitch is reminiscent of someone wiping away or erasing something (like on a whiteboard), symbolizing how Dorian has replaced BDG.
Not only this, the channel logo in the bottom left corner that links to the channel page is there throughout the entire video. Until he says "why don't you join me?" at which point "BDG" disappears. Is this intentional? Probably not? I think that this is just a thing that happens, but intentional or not it's brilliant.
Unironically these spreadsheets would be great for generating random encryption codes. Having several people randomly moving symbols around (though probably alphanumeric) while whatever is generating the encryption codes picking psuedo random cells to generate from would be literally impossible to reverse engineer.

This is the story of a man named Brian David Gilbert.
Brian worked for himself as his own boss, where he was making up to $20k a month.
His job was simple: he sat at his desk at home and he moved the same lines back and forth and back and forth in a spreadsheet.

After beginning my read through of Marx's Capital, I'm starting to see some similarities with being your own boss. Not only is BDG alienated from his labor, he literally doesn't know what it is he's making, but he adopts both the roles of the capitalist and the laborer. He is both Dorian Smiles, the capitalist who exploits the labor and therefore the well-being of the laborer who sells their labor as a commodity, and BDG the laborer, who is exploited under the capitalist in order to satisfy his needs. He sought freedom in becoming his own boss, and yet became compelled into capitalism both as a worker and as a capitalist. He is not free, he is still under the system's control

I love the "I don't sleep anymore" line.
These videos are horror done right. There’s this constant feeling of uneasiness and the viewer sort of knows what’s going on but enough that they feel like they know absolutely nothing with all the questions they have. Also the fact that there’s comedy mixed into it as it transitions from comedic to horror as the video goes on like sitting in slowly boiling water and easing into it. I hope I don’t come off as some sort of writing elitist or something like that, I am just honestly praising the amazing work done here
Not to mention we've all come to now and love BDG (and Karen) for the funny light hearted content they've brought us. It completely slipped my mind it was October and that it's spooky season my brain just say "oh shit new BDG channel vid. time for laughs"
Comedy and horror writing are often really related, because both require a keen understanding of audience expectations, the tension-and-release cycle, and pacing. It doesn't surprise me at all that BDG's got a lock on both.

surreal horror is my favourite too. It's easy to find good stuff like this just by putting "surreal horror" into the search bar and clicking on the playlists that come up.
