Darren, when I closed my full length slide, I heard a pop, and the rear inside corner fell to the ground. Thanks to your videos, I went to harbor freight, bought a body repair puller, and successfully pulled my H-harness (that will always be my word for it now)! I could see that my lower track and gear will be needing replacement, but I was able to realign everything, properly open and close my slide and get back on the road. The ONLY reason I succeeded was that your explanations of this device were so thorough and clear, I actually understood how it worked and could figure out what went wrong and how to fix it. Now THAT'S empowerment. I hope you know how much you have helped me, and how happy God is when one of his children takes care of his brothers like you do. God bless you, Darren!
I love this video. This and the others showing how to troubleshoot and lubricate is boosting my confidence that I can do this work on my RV as it is needed.
So great to see that you are addressing this and instructing. We are a member it the 2020 Solitude 390rk group who have had the support rivets and gibs break. There are A LOT of us who are needing repair. GD will cover the repair if you speak to the right person. My hubby and I decided to do the repair ourselves (after receiving 2 incorrect parts from the manufacturer). But if we had someone like you near us, we surely would have used you to repair.
What a great video definitely needed I have contacted you on several occasions about me doing my RV Schwintek on removing it and replacing the track on both sides and you have been very responsive offering me information on how todo it. I have taken the slide out apart 4 times unfortunately I just couldn’t get it level on both sides. After watching your new videos on doing the whole job I’m going to tackle it again this spring with some new tracks on each side and hopefully that will resolve my problem and it will operate properly again. I definitely have learned a lot from watching your videos they have helped me out a lot on other issues. Thank you for posting these videos they are great and very informative and help a lot of DIU out that want to do their own repairs. 👍
Awesome video. Thanks for the tips. I have rivets and I was wondering if after I drill them out I could replace them with screws. If so any details you could provide would be awesome! ie what size of screw etc
Hi Darren, I have a 40QBH Tiffin Phaeton with three Schintech/Lippert slides and one hydraulic slide. Your video on the electric Schwintech system is terrific! Thank you so much. Please stop posting Straits of Juan de Fuca videos. I was born and raised in Seattle from 54 to '94 and a avid sail boat racer. I've sailed by the shore you have posted on our Swiftsure Races out of Victoria. The videos really make feel like crap when I'm stuck in Dallas, TX the past 25 years. One Schwintech episode I had last month in Wyoming, the 15 ft drivers slide didn't sheer the 5/16 shear bolt, but sheared the shaft of the schwintech motor. I called Lippert and they said the shaft required grade 8 bolts (which I did). Lippert also told me to NEVER lubricate the system. This sounded odd from me and watching your video makes me think I was right all along. Darren, thanks again for you video's!!! Very helpful!!!
Thanx for youre info vid Im a RV tech up on Vancouver Island (CAF Vet) Allways intrested on how you do the things i do Yah OEM blew it on that build lol NO ROLLERS and Plates! I have a stable stand, w/ roller head (adjustable) for cases like that. I usually remove the motor so gears n shaft can free wheel, after i get H column"popped" out a bit ,,,, just saying>>> Really hate the set screw being on the out side when yah got a jammed one ( Jammed closed)
Excellent video. I have had a problem with my 2020 Lance 1995 lippert Schwintek slide out. Bottom front bearing block has failed three times. Slide will not go out evenly hangs up on front. Happened at campground first time. Would not go out on front. Called a mobile service and he could not help me. Basically the bottom block twisted and slide out would not go in or out. He got it the block out and we were able to push it in. Spent a month with the slide in camping. Not fun but not changing plans. No one could fix, no parts. Got it home, to the dealer, they ordered complete assembly front and back. Took 6 weeks. Installed took it home. Set up trailer, tried to put slide out, Same problem. Dealer came out and took trailer back. Had to for two days. And fixed it. Took it back home and set up and it worked. So I would open and close periodically. Worked 15 cycles. Same problem. Tech tried to open and it was the lower front bearing block again. Shoe was chewed up and and the track was full of debris. So waiting for for another 6 weeks for the front slide assembly. I am ready to get rid of this thing. Perhaps I should plan a trip up your way? Thanks for video, but still a loss. I live in Prescott, AZ. I luckily purchased an extended warranty , but no luck with this slide.
Thanks for all your great video. I heard you mention all lippert slide should have rollers. My Rv does not. I did find on the links you provided that if slide is not wider than 6 ft and less than 500lbs rollers are not necessary.
Schwintek (Lippert) told me a floor roller every 18 inchs is required. I see very few coach manufactures do this. Things like this makes it hard on us mobile guys.
It's crazy how big of a slide manufacturers put these Schwintek systems on. In my understanding user designed to be lightweight light duty slide systems and really aren't meant for super heavy slides.
Rv mobile tech here, your comment is something I have said for years. Most big problems are on full wall slides. Crazy that they continue putting them on them only to fail repeatedly. Once they have your $$ it's your problem to deal with.
The Schwintek slideout systems were never designed for slides that big or heavy. The RV manufacturer went cheap. That slide out mechanism should of been hydraulic.
Can you trim the driveshaft to be flush on the bottom? Will the drive shaft drop down and impede the h column going back in? Or does the bottom of the h column hold it up in place?
Darren, you are amazing, thank you! So my daughter's fifth wheel is here at our home I'm trying to fix her Schwinn tech slide, Grand design product. The controller is throwing eight flashes, so short in motor one. Disconnected the harness between the motor and the controller, and no short in the red and black wires. No damage to the red and black wires. So we replaced the motor, same error. Seems like the side where the motor was replaced is always dragging either in or out behind the other side. Slide moves in and out perfectly fine in override mode. No gouges in the tracks. Other than the little draging. Also tried a different controller with the same results. Any ideas? I'm at a loss.
We just got our 1st truck camper with slideout with the schwintech it never really likes to sync good but does work ok anyway new problem wife put steps up to bed she thought In a safe spot well it was in slides way closed slide on it motor sqauted down and stopped put back out moved step noticed the bottom of the slide is about 1inch from closing or less when the top of that same side of slide is closed sound like maybe the lower track jumped a tooth or something before we got it stopped any idea how I could fix this seems to me if I removed the motor and manually realigned then and put motor back on would it sync the top and bottom of the right side of the slide always something thanks love your vids Iam learning as much as I can it's a 2016 palomino backpack with 2 slides
Love your videos. Our kitchen slide won’t go out. It’s closed up tight on the left. Right side only moves an inch. What do we do if we can’t get the slide out far enough to access that screw to remove the motor? We have literally tried everything suggested and nothing has worked.
Thanks for your videos on the slide. Tried to purchase the CRC power lube with PTFE as you recommended in a prior Swintek video. Can't find it, however we purchased Dupont silicone lube with Teflon. Do you think that this will work as well? Thanks for all of your help! Brendan & Lena
Hi, Great video with tons of good information. I'm about tackle a Schwintek slide that is out by 3 inches top to bottom, so an obvious gear skipping issue. I think to get the new parts installed I will need to take both sides of the system off. I'm thinking if I properly support the slide and put some 2x4 stops on the inside I'll be ok. What do you think?
We don't have any on synchronizing at this time. Darren says it is an easy procedure but not many people are familiar with it. We'll add it to his list and have him put a video together.
What is the purpose of the inside white track that is screwed into the inside wall? how does it hold the H-Track in place? Does it NEED to be removed in order to pull the H-Track out far enough to re-score the shaft spline to keep from it dropping down?
Great video Darren as usually. Quick question on lightly tapping down the collet so to seat on the drive shaft, I got a little shy on tapping because I was concerned the drive shaft would shift downward to much, so my question is that possible ? Getting prepared to view part 2 of this series.
That aluminum driveshaft has these small machined Burrs in it to prevent it from going down too far. If you're using the collet to hammer it down the collet will bottom out before the driveshaft goes too far so you'll be fine.

Hello Sir, in the process of doing this repair. Received the whole kit from lippert, and they are even the correct sizes. However, they sent me black ones and my rv is white. They said they only come in black or raw aluminum., which I find hard to believe. Any thoughts or insights please? Thanks again for great videos, couldn't be tackling my project without them.
First of all, I have learned a lot from you and appreciate your hard work putting these videos together. I can only imagine how tedious it must be. I have just recently graduated from the NRVTA to become a certified technician, still learning a lot though. Secondly, I have a question in regards to the flapper seal on the outside of the slide. After you pull the seal back to expose the screw that holds the motor in place, what do you use to reseal that when you put it back. Got called on a job that I had problems keeping the seal back in place. Do you use something like sika flex?? Please help, as I am sure this won't be the first time I run into this. By the way, we here in Texas say howdy to ya!! South Texas that is.
Who is the manufacturer that did not put rollers in? Are you going to add rollers? The added resistance without rollers will just make this slide break again.

What if the screw into the motor does not tighten up. I was conducting maintenance on the slides and notice the screw that holds the motor in, does not tighten up? Should it? What do I do if it doesn't? Thanks
In that situation go with the next size up screw. That screw needs to be secure to the H column to be of any use in holding that motor down. The H column is aluminum so a steel screw in a thin aluminum frame will fatigue over time.
This is about the 10th video I have watched on these CRAPPY Schwintek Slides so I can feel confident enough to attempt the repair. I can't take mine in for service because the slide will NOT come in. I’m at the point of using a drill battery to remove the motor and tracks. Problem is I, and no one I know, still has a 12v battery and you say 18v and 20v will not work. Can you suggest another power source.
improvisation. I like new words. Your videos are so comprehensive, but I won't touch our solar or slide out on the 09 Winnebago View. I would drive from Boise to you though?
I have the system that the frame is not notched to get the motor out, do you recommend notching the frame to make it easier to replace the motor? Thanks I enjoy your videos
Darren, do you have a link for that power poler? I started some searches but i'm not finding one quite like that. I've been using some 4x6's and a bottle jack to achieve the same thing but that looks like a much nicer solution. thanks!
I wouldn't let this client work on my worst enemies camper if you don't properly support a slide during repair you make it so it will never work properly. I use an automotive lift jack use to support parts being removed or I stalled when the vehicle is on a lift. A minimum of one on each side with a stong board to support entire slide and the lifting of slide makes it possible to stabelly repair and realize the slide mechanism. This is a great how NOT to do this.
Thanks for the video, My slide got jammed and had to remove my motors to push it back in so I could head home. Will be replacing my schwintek system shortly but did build a Dewalt 20v to 12v battery adapter to drive my motor using a momentary switch to make it turn CW and CCW I made a video of it if you want to see it. ruclips.net/video/5W8_xciHSiQ/видео.html
maybe look at becoming a Vroom Slide systems installer, far superior replacement All About RV's just had one installed, 5X more robust, and can be loosened up if there is a problem with a couple nuts at the bottom and can be manually opened or closed with a wrench.
Thank you for watching!

I have the system that the frame is not notched to get the motor out, do you recommend notching the frame to make it easier to replace the motor? Thanks I enjoy your videos
Yes, I've used a Dremel to cut that notch to get the motor out before.
Wow - it was $800 two years ago? I just got quoted $1900 for parts and $1000 labor
Darren, do you have a link for that power poler? I started some searches but i'm not finding one quite like that. I've been using some 4x6's and a bottle jack to achieve the same thing but that looks like a much nicer solution. thanks!

@@MyRVWorks fantastic! thank you
I wish you would do a segment on the Vroom slide system and let every one know how bad this Shittech system is
I wouldn't let this client work on my worst enemies camper if you don't properly support a slide during repair you make it so it will never work properly. I use an automotive lift jack use to support parts being removed or I stalled when the vehicle is on a lift. A minimum of one on each side with a stong board to support entire slide and the lifting of slide makes it possible to stabelly repair and realize the slide mechanism. This is a great how NOT to do this.
Friggin' Schwintek junk !
It’s ok, I keep calling it an H Block. 🥴
that is a horrible designee pure junk i seen hundreds fail weight of slide on side wall of the rv nothing like slide rails under slide with hydraulic
Stop talking i only have one day a week to do things
maybe look at becoming a Vroom Slide systems installer, far superior replacement All About RV's just had one installed, 5X more robust, and can be loosened up if there is a problem with a couple nuts at the bottom and can be manually opened or closed with a wrench.
