Especially with the whole premis of this series on Babish's channel, where it's literally anything leftover in his fridge put together into something that's actually good. Jamie Olive Oil could take everything he has in his kitchen into one dish, and even street dogs would refuse to shit it out.
Legit, I have no idea why Uncle Roger treated it like it was a serious and planned recipe. He just experimented and made a tasty meal with whatever he has. I feel like Uncle Roger purposefully made stuff up to seem more upset. Like come on, just because rice grows predominantly in asia doesn't mean non-asian ingredients don't fit with it.
I wonder if Babish managed to see into the future and see that Uncle Roger was reacting to his fried rice video and made this dish on purpose to dissapoint Uncle Roger and give us a good laugh.
I also have extreme doubts about that Balsamic Vinegar addition, but Babish has never steered me wrong in the past! Although Silly Babish is definitely a beast of his own. Great video as always, Uncle Roger! Hope you and Babish get to do a collab!!
There are actually a lot of Chinese fried rice with vinegar, but not balsamic. I've had it in multiple regions mostly near to Shanghai, JiangSu, and Zhejiang regions.
I remember when I was younger, when eating garlic fried rice, for each spoonful of it, before I put in my mouth, I would add a drop of cane vinegar. Great by itself. Works best with eggs, fish, longganisa, tapa, tocino, etc. Simply combining vinegar + garlic + salt + pepper creates an amazing flavor. Uncooked, it’s a powerful dipping sauce. Cooked, it’s the base of the Filipino adobo! Balsamic vinegar sweetens when reduced. Regardless if it did or not in this recipe, the generous addition of salt in the end could’ve saved it towards tasting a bit like an adobo rice.
Personally I believe that marshmallows are way superior to peeps, but then again a marshmallow pizza would be very easy to make amazing, all you need is pizza crust, Nutella and marshmallows.
I think Uncle Roger after all this time has gotten a bit hung up on traditional cooking, which this clearly was clearly never meant to be. Also, Pesto and Balsamic vinegar probably suits this dish fine. I know it's his schtick and all but I felt like this was reaching.

Actually, Uncle Roger, there is a Chinese fried rice that uses a pesto-like ingredient of the young leaves of the Toona Sinensis (also known as Chinese Cedar, Chinese Toon, Chinese Mahogany, Red cedar, etc), and it does turn the fried rice green. It is very popular in Malaysia and Singapore - I am surprised Uncle Roger is not familiar with it.
He is already to white to familiar with that
He was still okay with the pesto, it was the balsamic that pissed him off
Idk why. Balsamic vinegar isn't so far off from Chinese black vinegar.
Uncle Roger is basically a westernised person pretending to be an asian middle aged uncle.
Really, i live in shah alam Malaysia but i never saw somebody ever used that kind of leaves in fried rice. Maybe its not popular enuf here 🤔
OMG, Uncle Roger x Babish is the collab we all need right now!

This is my style of fried rice. Open the fridge and freezer, see what veggies and protein are lying around and throw them in a wok with some white rice. Then finish off with a splash of soy sauce, some MSG and a little sesame oil. Works every time LOL
Instead of MSG I use reduced and this thickened chicken-mushroom Stock and then mix it with other ingredients.
Try this out ❤
Also if the eggs are safe to eat raw, it actually tastes really good mixing with rice.
@@imsoconfused7684 Bad news, friend. Eggs are not safe to eat raw. There's inherently a risk of salmonella and various other infectious bacteria, even if your chickens are healthy. That's why you cook eggs.
I would love a cross over episode. Asian Basics with Uncle Roger
"What in the Jamie Oliver is this?"
Come now, at least Babish knows he's doing something wacky and off kilter. Jamie actually thinks he's doing it right.
Jamie’s too busy crying about all the fat kids in America to follow proper recipes.
Especially with the whole premis of this series on Babish's channel, where it's literally anything leftover in his fridge put together into something that's actually good.
Jamie Olive Oil could take everything he has in his kitchen into one dish, and even street dogs would refuse to shit it out.
Nah, Babish is about Jamie Oliver tier. He's a grossly overrated RUclips chef who actually sucks at cooking.
Babish looks kinda high in this video
Legit, I have no idea why Uncle Roger treated it like it was a serious and planned recipe. He just experimented and made a tasty meal with whatever he has. I feel like Uncle Roger purposefully made stuff up to seem more upset. Like come on, just because rice grows predominantly in asia doesn't mean non-asian ingredients don't fit with it.
In Babish's defense, he is not afraid to use MSG when cooking.
“This Gandalf nephew just having mental breakdown infront of camera”!!😂😂😂😂
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤘🤘🤘🤘 lost it at that part🤘🤘🤘🤘
I wonder if Babish managed to see into the future and see that Uncle Roger was reacting to his fried rice video and made this dish on purpose to dissapoint Uncle Roger and give us a good laugh.
I could see it. Video is fairly new and there is the cloab mention, which I would love and hope it does happen.

Good point.
Who doesn't want that Uncle Roger bump? Well, Auntie Helen of course... but that's it.

Sure, but like UR said... why can't we see someone be like "oh damn, no... this wasn't good. My bad!"

Now imagine uncle roger sees the mythical kitchen and the shit Josh does over there. Looking at you Peep pizza.
Personally I believe that marshmallows are way superior to peeps, but then again a marshmallow pizza would be very easy to make amazing, all you need is pizza crust, Nutella and marshmallows.
"Look like if H&M become a person." Too accurate 😂
You know... Andy has infact eaten food he made and hated it, on several videos.
I think Uncle Roger after all this time has gotten a bit hung up on traditional cooking, which this clearly was clearly never meant to be. Also, Pesto and Balsamic vinegar probably suits this dish fine.
