“I meant it when I said I wanna get well, I wanna get well
Are the rest of you so content, stay where you are but it hurts like help
And I'm sure it's fun at first, test your pulse and check your vitals
If it's only a game you lost me, I quit it with the suicidal recital” 🤍

Yes! Such a beautiful and brilliant message. And it was delivered so eloquently.
This might be the first time I’ve ever heard someone recommend that my messed up brain chemistry might actually give me a better shot at having a fulfilling life.

Sharing myself was not an idea of what I had previously thought of before. For years I had been hiding for a number of reasons (marriage, family, work, etc.). I from the bottom of my heart thank Ariel and her amazing presentation on making my broken brain work for me. Yet there is a long way to go for me as well. This was a well constructed and inspiring idea that I hope we can all aspire for. I hope to see you soon for another conversation with an aspiring rockstar.

Thank you for your brilliant, compassionate, honest insight. You are an amazing artist, but more than this, a fantastic speaker. Don't ever stop sharing yourself with others. I'm sure you've heard of music therapy, lol. Many times, when I need to ground myself, I listen to your music and lyrics. I let music speak for me when I can't speak for myself. It helps. Thank you.

I've always "joy hunted" but never thought about it. When I am struggling with my body or wanting to take out my self hatred physically, I use skin safe markers and spend hours decorating my body with flowers and song lyrics. Yes, some of them from Icon for Hire

My friend gave me this unbelievably fancy leather-bound book he hand-made, and I'm like, "what the heck am I supposed to do with this?" Nothing seemed like a decent use of the book. After three years or so of it sitting blank and watching Ariel talk about it (and related concepts like, "joy hunting") I started a joy journal. It's fun to sit down and just think, "What was the nicest thing that happened to me today?" and just notice it. Even on a bad day there's usually something, even if that's just having something uncomfortable in the rear-view mirror. I started it on my friend's next visit from out-of-state, which seemed like a good first entry. I guess that's a long way of saying, "this is how I do joy hunting" from somebody not normally prone to performing explicitly "self help" activity.

Wow!! Loved this!! Thank you for an amazing talk. I discovered your work last summer, while going through a tough time myself, and have been listening to it almost constantly since. On the rough days it has become a sort of musical therapy to keep taking that one step forward and past whatever is challenging me at the time; in the best times it is amazing music that helps me remember that I will take my pain and use it as fuel to help others. Again thank you for an amazing talk and amazing music as well.

Mh, this make me thinking... She got depression and anxiety. She did progressive changes to manage her thoughs and than she can be strong even having "broken brain facilities".
I thought when a person have a depression, once leave, it will disappear. But since I had, I feel it easier to comeback. I may really need meditate everyday, definetely I will be strong as Ariel.

I would love to share this message on my twitch stream. I am a new streamer, just seeking to get a positive message to my small community, and have been listening to I4H a long time on and off on YT. Perhaps to open, or close out one of my streams. I could even offer a cross platform shoutout to TEDx Talks & Icon For Hire. Is this feasible?
