I've been following evolutionary psychology for years, and this fits right in. We are geared for survival, and protection of the vulnerable young is top on that list.
It's sad that our culture is currently in a way 'erasing' women, women are bombarded with the subconscious message they should behave more like men. Men can be protective providers, but they don't tend to have the same instincts.

Thank you Mother Lizard! I'm a first time, mom to a two-month old, and I'm reminded daily of how deeply in tune I am to her sounds where my husband often doesn't hear her at all. I even feel uncomfortable wearing my headphones because I can't hear her properly. My new brain takes some adjusting to.

Conclusion number four: Don’t forget to educate fathers to Detect signs What is going on Mothers’ Brain. We do not often know how to coop with it as we see only the non-rational (for us) behaviour effects . Even worst, we are the adults living side by side

I had no help, no village, and my kids dad worked so he had to get sleep. I felt like I was at work 24 hours and I never got to leave my job. It really is hard when you are used to getting income and my own life. I was ok with taking time off of work but I didn't know I had entered a 24 hour shift, almost zero sleep. I felt like it hurt me and I lost who I was. Now I feel empty, and angry at their dad a lot.

I’m so sorry you were left to manage the most demanding job in the world all alone. I think it’s ok to feel however you feel about it and to express your disappointment to your partner. He needs to step up to help, even if he does work.

I found that my mum friends diagnosed with ppd always had far more support from birth from family and friends then myself or others and I chocked it up to, if I gave myself time I'd feel that way too but I had to suppress it as there wasn't anyone helping or giving me time to do anything other than raise my baby.
However, maybe there is a bit of ppd called people into their bubble more. But what's the use in ppd if there's no one to call
