The fact you put alternative paints from other ranges is S tier. I have such a jumble of paints I never stick to one brand so this is such a great addition to tutorials.
Amazing and informative video as always! LOVED the breakdown of the areas you're going to be painting at the start to show the 'layers' you're painting in!
I'm new to the game and painting, but between the Ultimate Set and the Space Marine 2 Starter Set, I have a ton of Tyranids. I've been using them to experiment with contrast paints and making up my own schemes. But after watching your video I now have a great guide to actually do a lore accurate color set. Thanks for making the video.

appreciate the suggestion! i'm not sure i'll every do solely contrast method videos as it's not the way i paint, but i'll keep all the different subfactions in mind for if i do other armies 👍
I personally did kronos for my army, black prime super dark gray dry brush everywhere but I did the joints and open flesh areas in a neon green same with the claws and like the little spikes at the back of the hoof and the eyes I did my teeth in silver I did the tongue the same red I did the carapace and I just did a couple of coats of red didn't edge highlight anything and I didn't do the joints between the limbs and the red for the armor because of how the paint decided to sit on it I got that color differential you get that how certain bugs have like a ladybug for example you look at the red bits you're going to see light and dark spots that are not the black or white and I thought it just gave it a more natural tone and I didn't have to worry about trying to do the striping because I've seen Kronos have bluish and greenish for the claws and stuff so I thought why not use that and then neon green alien blood made certain parts pop more so to speak although I also used Dollar tree paints for the red the silver the dry brush gray I mixed my own after tax each 6 oz bottle cost me about a buck 30 and a 2 oz bottle for 49 cents of the neon green from hobby lobby I didn't even need to put down White as a base coat in the open flesh spots or in the eyes or on the claws, and my brother's best friend was mad when he saw my army that it looked better than his and he did an original paint scheme cream underbelly blue armor with little pink bits and he did all the kind of techniques you were doing also using the expensive paints and yeah he was upset that mine looked just as good if not better and I got my entire Leviathan box set done quicker than he did and for basing I just ripped up some cork board to make it look like asphalt for like a broken road painted it black to look like the asphalt and then I hit certain areas white and then I did yellow on some areas for the lines and for six paints I spent about $7 after tax not including the primer or the clear coat I did a matte black primer and then I did a semi-gloss clear coat bolt from Rust-Oleum which were about 6 bucks a can and I didn't even use a quarter of all my paint for a thousand points leaving me still plenty more to work on the rest of the army my brother's going to 3D print for me later this year as I found everything I needed for free to finish up about 4,000 points worth if I so chose to so I can change up my army and mix and match depending on who I'm playing

Cracking video, almost wishing I'd gone for Hive Fleet Tiamat now, but it's far too late to be repainting everything I've done so far!
Greta video adz ! You are so bluddy talented. I really wish I had your paintbrush skills.
Building skill just takes practice! You can do it, I believe in you.
This is absolutely fantastic. What's your favorite hive fleet? (In terms of color scheme)
from this batch, probably Ouroboris. came out really nice and wasnt too hard!
i’ll always be a Leviathan boy though ;)
