If you are watching this two years in the future, did we survive 2020? & if you ask me a super specific question in the comments don't take offense if I don't remember the answer.
Thanks so much for watching! Спорт
This bike is was on my wishlist along with the Redline, my dear friend Tony (RIP) had a Diamondback & I had a Toro we'd hit the local dirt track and have a blast, riding for hours, crashing, getting up & dusting ourselves up and going for more! The 80s were great years to be a teen..
I haven't heard of a Toro? Would you have a picture of it.
@tinocojohn1 no unfortunately I don't have any pics.
I have this exact same bike. I remember the first day I got it for Christmas 1993 back when I was 11. Still have it and in fact gave my 4 year old a ride on it today. So many memories and definitely nostalgia.
I've got a 97 interceptor I wasn't sure I'd restore but after watching this I think I will!
I know how difficult these videos are. This was Awesome! And the Drone shot is a great touch at the end. And I love the history and research behind it. Amazing job!
Thanks man, that means a lot! Working on the next one now, but you know how it goes...
Just picked up a 94 interceptor today, and this will really help me. Thanks!
Best of luck with your build!
True nostalgia!! Reminds me of being a kid riding with the buddies till the street lights turn on!
The only transportation we needed!
I still have my 95 and it’s completely OG. The Mach One is very underrated bike.
Love it! Great job keeping it original. I'm 41 my buddy growing up had this bike.
Just picked up a 1996 Mach one in gloss black. I paid an astonishingly low $50!! I’m going to restore some stuff but want to leave it as original as possible. I love how you did this bike, not too much no too little. Great video
Oh wow that's crazy! And thanks so much for the compliment👍 Good luck on your build, if you make a video of it swing back by and let us know
I remember seeing this model in 94 at the shop where I bought my 94 gt performer and dyno compe in the spring of 1994,all the gt's and dynos they had at that shop at the time were built in 93 but sold as 94 models, still have and ride my purple plasma dyno compe and still looks great
Nice bike! Early 90's
Thank you!
Oh god, this brings me back to 5th grade. Almost cried when my dad got me one.
Nice! I think I was in 5th grade when I got my first one to, great memories
I had this bike in the 90s. Thanks for sharing!
Bmx bring me some good memories back from the early 80's,I still have an 83 moongose supergoose and watching this videos,I decided is time to restore mine back to new but keeping it original as much possible, mine is chrome with red...!
Keep the videos coming bro, I enjoy the way you edit and the info you share. I had to screenshot a few diagrams you showed in a few of your last bike vids. Keep up the great work, been thinking of getting a mid school bc of how much cheaper they are. I wouldn't mind having this 94 at all lol.
Thanks so much, that means a lot! Already working on the next one. & I agree, some of the prices have gotten so crazy we have no choice but to try other options
3 mins in and I'm already subscribed, This amount of model year geekery deserves it!
Haha thanks! Guess I was willing to do anything to avoid doing actual work 👍
Love your work and really enjoyed the video. Great work on the crank
This was dope! Makes me want to restore my 93 Gt interceptor
My brother and I had a 93 Interceptors, mine yellow his chrome. My mom threw them away in the 2000's. Also my 94 Haro Group 1 SI and my 95 Pro Freestyle Tour. Thought I didn't want them. Sucks.
@@ratrodramblin damn, sorry to hear that, luckily for me I was able to keep mine but idk for how long tho... I got both of my vintage Ryan nyquist haro bikes and my gt that I would like to restore
Those Epoch headsets were the best . Never came loose!!!
Yeah! It's an interesting design - I still don't totally understand the need to adjust the tension on the fly, if it was really used in racing or just a gimmick?
Awesome! I still have all my bmx and street bikes from the 80s. GT, Dyno, Boss, Free Agent mini, Hutch and Skyway
Overall it looks great! Great job!
Great Vid ! Do keep them coming sir.
Absolutely beautiful bicycle. I have a late 80s one I'm gonna restore.
Nice oldschool bike
Thank you!
Loved this. I still have my original 95 GT Interceptor in my garage. About to give it a tune up. Your video was very helpful and inspiring.
Amazing video helped me out my 94 Mach one back together and refurb it. Thanks so much
Awesome!! Glad to hear you got it back together 👍
@@joelyoung9519 question for you? What size chains usually comes on the 20 inch Mach ones of this year? I can’t seem to get any concrete information.
Loved your video, a pleasant 30 min of my day. Ride on brotha
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it. Got to finish the next one...
I ride GT Intercepter 94
Amazing results ! Great job!
First time to the channel and loved watching every minute of this. The decal under the grips looks sooo good. Nicely done and Subscribed
I'm sure you've seen how much the price of old school GT's has skyrocketed this year, it probably won't be long until the value of mid school bikes goes way up too...I found your channel bc of the 90 GT you did a couple years ago, subscribed!!
Thanks! Yeah, they are definitely worth more than a few years ago. Hopefully they will come down from the current ridiculous prices
I enjoyed watching that. My best friend growing up had this bike and I always wanted one just like it.
Nice Job! I love that you kept the original frame stickers.
wow my friend u killed that restoration great job that’s a beautiful bike reminds me of my virtigo i had in 96 beautiful
Really nice job 👏
Beautiful job
Im from malaysia🇲🇾 i love how u restored ur bmx bike....nice details n nice set up...
Nice job! 🤘
I was always more of a freestyle guy, but I remember seeing these brand new in my local bike shop back in the 90's. 😎
Turned out great! I have an original interceptor and a pro series cruiser of this same era and you did em justice for sure. Liked the music too
Great gob man really nice 🍻
Totally Rad Dude!!!🤙✌️
Someone really put a lot of work into this video. Super.
Back at it! Who gave thumbs down....what is wrong with people
Love the thumbs up 😁 looks great
great garage joel....and i love your restoration....
your videos are very detailed and easy to follow. i am also rebuilding a few bikes and i also fly drones so i really liked it.
Great video.
Dude this makes me miss my GT mach one
Another fantastic video and restoration. Great job!
Thanks so much!!!
I did a video on the chain restoration. It’s on my channel if you want to see how I go about it.
@@atrains oh yeah, I had watched it back when you released it! Lots of good info, that's one of the pieces that's still missing from my childhood Vertigo
Joel Young you should look me up on the BMXMuseum
@@atrains for sure, I'm on there intermittently based on what project I have going. My screen name is J-PHX
Man this bike turned out mint! Nice one😀👍🇦🇺
I gave it a thumbs up because of the intro. 👍
I try not to take it too serious 😃
very nice resto,
Dude awesome video! Gonna share with my mates!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it
@@joelyoung9519 loved it dude! I myself own a 1997 GT Interceptor. 😉
Wow great work, cool vid
Thanks!
Nice job ride it
Looks better without pads.
That was the race design.
I love the lines on the Pro performer.
Nice build ....doing a 89 flatland pro and 92 slammer now...love these style mach 1
Haha, two at once! Good luck, don't don't go broke 💸
Incredible man.
thank you!
i did a restromod "Dream mid school" build on an old GT Mach Two awhile ago (the aluminum frame ones with the huge downtube) and it took forever to find one of the factory cloth Speed Series seats. i built it, looked at it alot, rode it less then 10 miles, then parted it out. but for a moment in time, i owned my child hood dream bike
Nice build I just sold my 94 mach one build santa ana bike for only 300 bucks. The guy was giving it to his son for his birthday so i let it go cheap. But it was completely original.
That was a steal your a great guy
Hey i just came across the GT mach 1 Video retro! I just wanted to say u did a really amazing job man's especially with the decals really smart & creative. so Great job and amazing Bike.
Cheers from Toronto Canada. Tom D.
Thank you! Yeah it was a bummer that the original decals were mostly there just faded so I did what I could to brighten them up. Best of luck with your future bikes!
Great restoration. I am in awe of your steady handed attention to details regarding the decals.
Job well done.
Amazing man!
Thank you!
Thankyou bro. Nice video. Nice bike I loveyou. Bro. Old school bmx. Thankyou 4 the great video
Came out great !! Im a GT man also, just finished a 90 pro series XL and a 94 24” GT cruiser.
Thanks so much! I should probably look into the bigger bikes as well. Hope yours turned out awesome, cheers
Guys, there's a company called Monza I found on facebook and they have 24 inch bmx bikes with Skyways, check them out. I'd rather have a GT in a 24, but those don't look too bad
Me to i have a few GTs cant beat them so comfortable to ride very strong and look Awesome.
i love this editing
nice bike
Thanks so much!
Wow man you killed it. This kid had one near me who was insanely good on it. I went to buy one and ended up getting a GT Power Series 3.0. Fat aluminum frame, the big old aluminum 3 pc crank. It's stuffed up in my garage with a GT performer, Mongoose Hooligan and Villan. Not curtain on all the years but def all pre 95.. The bikes i threw in the trash years ago makes me want to puke. Mongoose decades ect. If i had only know!
Thanks, you have an awesome collection!
@@joelyoung9519 Thank you for sharing and the complement. After watching you inspired me to pull my 95 Mongoose Villain (1st bmx/freestyle bike i got as an xmas gift) down from the addict and started to go through it. I took the gyro cables and hardware off alongg time ago and its been sometime so im dreading dealing with it lol. I know when the sun's shining an the warm nights come back it will be a great to hop on for a ride.. I think these GTs were amazing, everyone who rode mine and my friends Mach 1 wanted one after getting off them lol. To some it sounds silly but that GT was my Ferrari as a kid and put ton of miles on it. Sorry for the long comment..it just takes me back to better simpler times..esp with all that's going on.
Stay safe and keep up the excellent work!
@@Junior-fd8ux haha I know exactly what you mean! I'm the same about my 90 Vertigo, a Christmas present just like yours. I'll make a video about it someday, but that's my "white whale"
@@joelyoung9519 Hell yeah make a video of that!! A 90 Vertigo is a sick bike..my buddy had a newer one in chrome w/ black mags.. the bike was sick.
Im on the prowl for a profile or even a fishbone 3pc crank for the Villan. Wish i could go back and order it from the Dans Comp page of items that would be towards the pack of the BMX Plus mags lol, those were the times man.
I like the pads for protecting the frame and bars from getting banged up and personally don’t mind the look of them either.
Very underrated video🤔👍
Looks good! The rear dropouts are like mine where they connect but mine is apparently a 98' or 99' but don't know why the same model could have different rear dropouts available the same years.
Oh my God...I raced this exact bike..in 20 and cruiser class (24 inch) .I saved and got the bullseye hubs and primitive 3 piece cranks...I stripped the stickers off the frame and put red flite pads with red odi grips with donuts..what !! I can still feel the excitement on raceday...riders ready.on the gate ..watch the light..beeep!! And back then you didn't have the internet. .you got trick parts at the track on wed and by fri/ Saturday they were on..
Nice build just finished up a 84 hutch this morning
Awesome, that's that's 10 years older than this one! Can't believe they are still around
Yes there still around
Great job ☺
Thanks!
Nice job
Thank you!
Can you please tell me where you found the handlebar decal under the grips? I can’t find them anywhere or the gt clear grips
@joelyoung what do you recommend on restoring the crank and front sprocket? I have a 94 Interceptor I’m restoring as well. The crank/crankset have some rust and a bit of wear and tear. Thanks!
If it's the same design as this one, the sprocket was 2 pieces, the inner being anodized. For $ reasons I decided just to spray paint the inner section, as it wouldn't be wearing on the chain. If the arms are rusty you can check out my previous video on OA bath the works wonders for cheap. Best of luck!
This video was so entertaining. Subscribed. I’m having issues decoding some type of dyno I bought at a yard sale. Sadly, no stickers and I have almost all the spray painted
Look at the stamped serial number, either on the rear dropout by coaster brake tab, or on the bottom bracket, where the crank is, if it's a later model. BMXmuseum is a great resource that should help you decifer things more. ;)
Wish i had something to do stickers like that very nice
Nice bike and video! I love the old 90's GT bikes it brings me back. I have some advice for installing grips, you can use anything with alcohol in it, deodorant, glas cleaner, parfume. It won't rust and you can ride with it in a few minutes. I always use deodorant because i have alot of it cus of the stank
Haha, thanks and thanks you for the tip!
My neighbor had one of those when I had my Group One that I can't find. I don't remember mine having a kinked upward top tube. Anyway, the rider of the Mach One that lived next door to me was a freshman when I was in sixth. "They" taught me how to do 360's over a box. First trick, on a race bike what's only progression from there was speed. Mach One's a "bad" bike.
Me recuerda mi infancia. Bendiciones...
1982er Style......i Love it😊
That is the first year I'd seen a Drop-out tail. Dodo is the other direction. Jerry is as patient as a swimming pool.
Nice because of ur video I just found out my old dyno air is a 89 chrome and my vertigo is a 93 chrome aswell both super clean for they age thanx great video what tires u have I need 2 sets
Try it with just the handle bar pad and see how that looks. I'd probrobly find a number plate to stick on it as well. It def turned out well, and don't worry ab longer videos, we don't mind, I promise lol
Needs a Bomber plate!
Beautiful restore. Gave me inspiration to restore my 90's era gt as well. Im not sure what model or year it is , yet anyway. Again Beautiful work.
Thanks so much! Hopefully the serial number is a similar format and you can decode it, best of luck with your rebuild!
I have Regional catalogs they numbers for every get ever made but you can look online and I'll teach you everything you need to know my father worked for GT for many years that's why I have all the books and I do restore them
Hello, how can I get the paint templates for the cranks?? thanks so much for your advise
That bike should not see rain 😍
Love it! I had Mach One just like this back in the day. Always loved the design of those dropouts; the way the chain stay curves upward. I had to wonder if it would have served you better to order reproduction graphics versus painting the original ones…? Anyway, nice restore and thanks for the nostalgia.
Awesome work I was wondering where did u find the gt decals u put for the handgrips I need some Dino decal’s for my 93 compe
ah the memories of cranshaft-n-sprocket,putting on gyro was alot more fun!
Awesome video 🙌. I have the Candy apple red one. different grips odyssey gedda grips and no breaks. Everything else exact same as the catalog. Same condition as how you got yours.
Thanks! Yeah unfortunately the brakes have gotten more expensive lately, I was lucky
love it,,, sub for life here
Great Video!
I am currently in the process of restoring a '96 Mach One.
Where did you find the handle bar stickers? (The ones the clear grips cover)
I can't seem to find them anywhere online. Just the main body decals.
Thanks!
Thanks! I got them off eBay, part of a sticker or decal lot if I recall. They are probably not genuine, but I guess it was that or nothing. Best of luck with your 96!
@@joelyoung9519 Thanks! I'll keep an eye out on ebay for them.
This was awesome! Thanks for the vid. I’m about to begin my journey on a 90’s Dyno resto. Do you remember where you got the tires by any chance?
The final set was from eBay, the only place I would find them at the time. The 1st set I ended up not using was from Porkchop BMX
Did you assemble and finish the Rusty GT? If so can you post a follow up of it finished. Thanx
I did! Search for "Rustiest GT on eBay - Final Reveal - 1990 Performer BMX Restoration - Part 11" I've had a little trouble with it showing up in some countries because of the music.
THE GOD OF BUILDIN BIKES IS BACK
Haha, well I'm not sure I've earned that title with one video in two years, but already working on the next one. Cheers!
I’m restoring this one right now. I even got the pitbull rear brakes
👍👍Really nice job, without pads... you shared a story so I'll share a story...!
I had a GT Mach One as a kid growing up I got it from some punk ass high school kid that went around the car that stopped for me and hit me in the Cross walk going to Elementary school mind you he was driving a Jeep and he destroyed my bike, luckily enough I only got bumps and bruises and wasn't really injured by the good graces of God honestly, I don't even know how I wasn't fooking killed cuz my bike was destroyed V OUT and in pieces all over the street the bike was everywhere... but long story short in the town I lived in Springville Utah , he didn't get a ticket so my parents couldn't Sue him I guess somehow it's not against the law to hit people in a Crossing walk at that time. I don't really know I was 10 in 93 and that's when I got my new bike luckily enough he replaced my old "bmx predator Chrome red checkerboard" and letting me pick out a new bike at the bike shop, I guess that was his way of saying he was sorry...!
P.S.
the handlebar grips when I was a kid was a bitch to find then to I had to replace them a couple times cuz they were gel'ed and I would burn through them... they were really nice to have but kind of a bad design and mine did not have the GT sticker logo underneath it I guess the bike shop screwed me on that one lol..
I loved this, sorry to see it was the last video you posted, but I'm sure you are doing something productive elsewhere :)
Yeah, what's the deal with this one video a year nonsense 😂 Working on the next one, but you know how it goes...
Put the handlebars in same degree as the forks. You got em way toooo forward. Goofy to me old BMX'er lol GREAT BUILD. COOL video man keep it up and good music too 😎😎😎
Have the same bike since I was a kid and still have it. I believe it was 1994 when it was purchased brand new. Question will using that dremal and wire brush hurt the chrome will cleaning rust spots. Mine needs to be cleaned as well. Good job on your bike restoration.
