Old guy (51) chiming in here. Grew up around the BMX scene back in the early-mid 80's. What I notice about this video is how incredibly smooth they are with the tricks. A lot of subtlety in their riding you just don't see (or maybe I don't) in the big air days of today. I just love seeing how smooth these guys are.
@@stevelampard To this day I still have memories of the likes of Bart McDaniel, Harry Leary, etc. speed jumping like it was an art form. Loved that stuff.
From when the illusion and the desire invaded everything. A wonderful document that shows a world where things were more beautiful than now. Long live to continue riding a bicycle. Much peace and health for all.
Brian and Dave were and still are GREAT friends. Used to ride with them when Dave would come down to Brians parents house. Dave had amazing strength and always went burly. Always seemed kinda weird watching Blyther ride for GT. He was always the Haro brand in my childhood mind.
Thanks very much to share this footage with us. It's very precious to me. I rode BMX between 88-00 and Dave volker and Blyther are my favorite riders. Thanks from Brasil!
Dave is probably the greatest bmx freestyle and ramp rider of all time. His street skills were off the chart for his time and even now by comparison. He makes big air tricks look simple.
I was a dirt jumper at the time in Las Vegas and a buddy of mine rode for GT. This was right around the time of the third X games at mission Beach in San Diego if I'm not mistaken. I remember Dave and the freestyle team.. they were old school even back then.
I raced as a pro in my class in the mid 80's. My GT pro was my ride, pride & joy, just loved that bike.. But damn! there was no way for me to get my bike to go that high in such a short distance and land that smooth, these guys take this thing to a new level.
Cool it stops after that first song, we wanna' hear 1998 and Gabe Weed .....where's the flatland ESPNNNNN... Beautiful ramp riding and all though. I am having a great day hope you are too
This was awesome to see I was big into bmx early 2000s , just built up the same nos Haro frame I had as a teenager I don’t even ride it much but just brings back great memories
Thanks so much for posting! I was at these as well, i'm in that crowd somewhere! I was a HUGE flatland rider and these guys were my idols. I think I still have a signed shirt from these guys.
Their expert skill level make these tricks look so very easy. Even many of todays new school riders would really have to practice at some of these tricks that look effortless here. It was a different time and style but the difficulty is high.
You know when I was a kid, having a big crank up front was what we thought better. Because you could go faster, I remember having a small huffy bike with a small crank up front and no free coaster, while my friends had gts, dynos, mongoose, redlines, and haros. Now a days it's all small cranks, you don't see people on big crank old bmx bikes.
We'd bike to this Eriks every weekend and eat at that Subway too! This was Eden Prairie & Glen Lake, lots of good memories from that store and the old workers.
I saw one of these I think early 2000’s. Great show but one of the guys got so mad from failing a couple tricks. He went up the quarter pipe, threw his bike down, and went in his trailer for the rest of the show
Yeah I rode in the 90s a lot Of dirt some street and park but my roots were definitely dirt jumping in trails we would build we would ride all day everyday I miss it a lot
What cities were these in? I was way into BMX and GT at the time, so I would have been all over this. I can't help but wonder if I was at one of these shows, and just can't remember...
I was at one of these that I believe that redline bikes put together or it was a local bike shop anyways they lined up about 6 kids to bunny hop over and one of the kids dog ran towards the kid laying down just as the dude jumped the kids and it hit the dog right on the back of the neck with his front tire and eat shit so hard and everyone was worried about the dog and homie was unconscious on the ground with clearly a broken collarbone and bleeding.
I saw this tour. The music sucks all the fun out,WHAT IN GAWDS NAME? Might as well have stuck send me an angel in there....blech...awesome video though and I am an ass about videos and the music used. I surely have discarded as much as discovered new music through Props ..lol..thanks sorry If I was mean...the music sunk my boner
So amazing that events like this one were put in the local BMX shops back in the good old days.. 🤘

Once you learn the trick you do it a thousand times not just move on to one more rotation. Style is King.
If you want to see real style from modern guys watch the S&M dirt stuff like Matty Aquizap and Clint Reynolds
Another old guy here that grew up on a BMX. I noticed the smoothness too. I'm not sure i was that smooth on my old Raleigh Burner 🤔
@@stevelampard To this day I still have memories of the likes of Bart McDaniel, Harry Leary, etc. speed jumping like it was an art form. Loved that stuff.
@@PK-vd3vo my heroes were Bob Haro and Eddie Fiola etc. So smooth and refined. Our tricks and jumps were a bit more kamikaze.🤣
Shot with an old school camcorder too, love it!
These truly were the GOOD old days!
This is so epic ....love from Germany
I miss my old days of bmx bike a skateboard riding was so fun.

My favourite era of bmx, the gt guys were always dialled in

This was an awesome tour...Two legends...
Crazy dave from New york?

So glad to see you this. A bmx team came to my elementary school back in the 90s. We also saw one at an RV and boat show. Good old days. Thanks.
those are the kings of bmx shows

Brings back so many great memories of BMX in the 90’s. Thanks for the upload!
Yeah, these shows were always the highlight of summer...
Thank you, Dave The Lord Voelker was my hero when I was a kid, this brings back such great memories.
Dave is probably the greatest bmx freestyle and ramp rider of all time. His street skills were off the chart for his time and even now by comparison. He makes big air tricks look simple.
seen this same GT show in like 2000/2001. was the coolest thing ever even though I was a skateboarder kid.
It's really amazing to see the evolution of BMX. 98 was my senior year of high school, and I had a blue GT Vertigo! Thanks for sharing this video!

Volker seriously rules and Blyther is rad as well. I honestly didn’t know he was still riding in 98. Thanks for posting I seriously enjoyed this
Minnesota 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
This is just simply beautiful and to think where the sport is today. Goosebumps guarantied. Thankyou for filming this 24 years ago

This team( or similar) visited my school in elementary, around this time. I STILL love bicycle’s till this day…
what an awesome show !!!

Always wanted a GT powerlite back then.....still do

Damn those guys are pretty good
We had the Haro team do a demonstration down town next day I had a Haro sport
We'd bike to this Eriks every weekend and eat at that Subway too! This was Eden Prairie & Glen Lake, lots of good memories from that store and the old workers.
This is the kind of riding that gets pumped to ride again. Crazy how they whip those heavy GT bikes like nothing.
Stunning footage ✌🏻 slick tricks miss these times ❤️
KILLER BMX SHOW
Yeah, this type of riding gets me stoked...
I remember these days when I used to do this growing up in Fresno ! Fresno to sac 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻😬
Excelente show
Great video... Thank you.
I want to see this type of riding again, I appreciate the new school, but man these guys were flawless
Damn these guys r fkn smooth with it ...
Amazing !!!!

woah having a flashback watching this wow
Thanks for this.
Greatest video ever!!!
It really is, even Dave said so himself!!!
Good ole days
Back in the 80’s, I seen the GT guys in Schaumburg IL, and the Haro guys outside a Bike Shop in Algonquin IL.
Good ol‘ days 🔥
The best of music
I know it!
Damn we had it good in the 80's and 90's!
I saw one of these I think early 2000’s. Great show but one of the guys got so mad from failing a couple tricks. He went up the quarter pipe, threw his bike down, and went in his trailer for the rest of the show
Take me back to 98’ please.
great video, well done and THX mate!
It is some awesome footage for sure..thanks
Love BMX. Moisés Sergipe Brasil!
Vintage 📼 🤙
This was my era. Those plazas all still exist but that space that was a bike shop is now a Family Dollar.
Nostalgia !
Met voelker in san diego in 98, he's so big! For a bmxer he's a big man. I was 20 years old 5'10" 180 lbs and he was probably 6'2" probably 230 lbs.
What? You got the wrong guy..
Yoo tengo una Bicicleta GT California Aniquelada y negra y Antigua California está bien hermosa 😂😂😂😂🎉🎉
Class
Yeah I rode in the 90s a lot
Of dirt some street and park but my roots were definitely dirt jumping in trails we would build we would ride all day everyday I miss it a lot
They riding Dyno gt I remember mine Chrome just like this one
Bring them back
They are too much, they are too hot !
How can they master all these tricks ?
They are masters 😎
How do they get so much air off that ramp, that they can jump over a person?
Ahh the good days
06:12 I love how he chooses to go over the kids faces
Wahoooo! Who is the yellow intégral helmet, I have got the poster in four parts of him
RAD
Nostalgy !
Omg my gt zone is the same color as that yellow gold gt and the same rims
BMX was always exciting, even though it seems tame by today's standards.
I've been trying to pinpoint the exact moment pro riders got to start wearing their own solid colored t-shirts.
The search continues beyond 1998.
Early 90's, but for shows like GT,
You have to look professional, not a dirtbag..
@@beyondthegreysky9865 , I was born in the middle of the 1970s. Those BMX suits were the mountain top for me as a kid.
Badass
Was that a Voelker signature 1998 pro performer frame that they were riding?
Soo badass
Anyone know what type GT this is?
Performer? Freestyle tour?
What cities were these in? I was way into BMX and GT at the time, so I would have been all over this. I can't help but wonder if I was at one of these shows, and just can't remember...
I know one was in Burnsville, but not sure about the others. Such a great show with these legendary riders.
The 05/31/98 show is in Eden Prairie, strip mall at the NE corner of Hwy 5 and Eden Prairie Rd.
In the title it says Minnesota.
So they're doing the tricks gliding on bikes that same people today are doing a motorcycles the 80s are great I miss them
999 to 1.000 Like!🥳
Отличное выступление. Как называется песни
I seen a similar X-games must have been the same people 🤔, in 1999.
Is this at Eric in vadnais height ?
What in the world is this music?
It's like RAD 2.0
There's prob someone there sitting with their blinker on waiting to turn into a parking spot in front of subway
Then you see a bike flying and get stoked..
I was 11 years old
that boneless ! 1:13
I wish that seated rollbacks never existed.
You know it's authentic because of the Saturn advertising.
I just came to praise the lord
Seeing the Nike logos in BMX
Bikes in the 90s were waaay lighter than the 80s bikes…… I used up be able to pick up a non mag performer with my pinky…
Perfert gaiss 👍
What’s the song? Hook a brother up!

Brazil 👀
98 or 88?
Could be either one, riding looked similar, but it's 1998.
not feeling the music, but the show looked awesome, miss the old days
