  • Looking for exercises for BETTER POSTURE? Then you've come to the right place. Watch this video with orthopaedic surgeon and sports medicine physician Dr. Chris Raynor as he shows you three simple bodyweight strength training exercises that you can do for better posture. He will demonstrate these exercises and give options for different levels and abilities.
Of course, how to fix your posture is a question that many of us ask, and having better posture is something most of us want. Good thing is, it's fairly easy to get, you just have to put in the work. As with many things in life, the problem lies in imbalance - in this case, most of us have imbalance in our muscles from sitting most of the day.
If we sit all the time, our anterior chain (meaning the front of our bodies) is always in a forward-flexed position, and is tight. Our shoulders are rounded forward. Likewise, our posterior chain (meaning everything on the back of the bodies) is weak. We need to practice exercises then that both strengthen the posterior chain (glutes, low back, hamstrings, thoracic spine, etc), and stretch the anterior chain. Those are the kinds of exercises that Dr. Chris is going to show you today. He will demonstrate the scapular push up, the wall touch, and the running man.
These best thing about these exercises for better posture that Dr. Chris is going to show you is that they are bodyweight strength training exercises and they don't require any gym equipment. A person can practice them easily at home.
By doing these exercises for better posture on a regular basis, over time, you should see an improvement. These are also great exercises to do to PREVENT your posture from deteriorating if you are one of those people who sits most of the day for work.
Incorporate these three simple exercises into your fitness routine today as treatment for poor posture and as a preventative measure against it. Don't be afraid to give them a try! Remember to always work through a full range of motion if possible, and to always use proper technique. Don't rush. Be mindful and use intention when you are doing any type of exercise to get the full benefit.

I have to thank you for this video for the amount of detail in the exercise for serratus anterior. My physiotherapist didn't explain even 20% of this to me. Thanks
