Not only were the graphics really good and the animation of water amazing the music felt extremely laid back. Thinking about it now I could still play this game as a game to relax to simply because of it's music and relaxing visuals. I would sometime go into a practice map and just go around and ride along side the dolphins and just move about the map.
This game is still amazing, im emulating it with project64 and bumped up how good it looks with my graphics card. Runs awesome on a 65 inch panel. I played the shit out of it in 96 too.
this game controls so well, art style and design is also top notch. I'd love to see a true sequel to this. blue storm changed up the look and feel (art style wasn't as good) The storms were interesting but the feeling was lost
Haha damn. This is my third different N64 game watch. Taking me back, crazy nostalgia. Favorites in this circuit was twilight city and southern island, most challenging for me was port blue. Thanks for making this for everyone. This/N64 was the BIG BIG for all us 80/90s kids. My pop surprised me one day, been saving to try n buy one of these, I would "help" at his construction business, in reality I was just making fried egg sandwiches for his crew and carrying small pieces of wood @ 4 yrs old. He picked me up from school and he told me to help him look for something that he'd dropped and could find/get in his truck.... there it was, brand new along with 5 other games I discovered. He told me it wasn't about the money, it wasn't a expectation to be rewarded always, its the fact that you worked, saved and in life if you really want something you need to learn both and much more. So I had my 50 bucks I earned over the course of a year, took that n' bout a game. Diddykong racing was our favorite game along with Goldeneye. My greatest memories with him before he passed. So thank you again👍👍
Man I love this game. You know at Twilight City if you hit the jump and lean the rider down you go through a shortcut. Damn I love this game especially southern island music amazing.
Why do the graphics still impress me as if it's a brand new modern videogame with state of the art water physics and a dynamic harsh but appealing 3D look that only the N64 could create?
Because despite visuals becoming sharper and more detailed, I think this game still retains the best 'feeling' water physics on how your craft reacts in a gameplay sense. Even Blue Storm didn't replicate it.
12:25 I have played Glacier Coast a lot and until I watched this video, I never noticed the penguin swimming under water. I guess that is because I tend to use C^ and have my perspective zoomed in. It also might be that I am looking to the horizon and not just in front of the watercraft.

Seriously THE best water physics ever created for ANY game. They can't even recreate It almost 25 years later.
That glacier coast ending was insanely nail bitting @ 13:48
@William Rivera There is a Switch game called Aqua Moto.
“You’re in-BANZAI!!”
“Select your water craft *please* “ back when we still had manors. The feels
Do you mean manners?
I never had manors or a manor. I’ve always had proper spelling though.

4:00 *Knocks girl off her craft screaming*
Announcer: "...ok!"
The graphical detail and water physics for a 1996 videogame are mindblowng. 24 years later those physics haven't been topped.
That win at 13:52

Completely agree, remember being so disappointed in it, it was completely soulless.
Nintendo renewed the Wave Race copyright in 2016 in the EU. There's talks of a new Wave Race for Switch.

BONSAIIII!
BANZAI!!!
I loved this game as a kid. I played it so much I could beat the game with one hand using the controller lol
Sakurya s we're a rare breed!
for it's time this game was awesome. compared to nes & genesis this game was at the top in 1996
The N64 compares to the PS1 though, but yes N64 games were on top technically speaking regardless of the PS1 selling way more
Never noticed there was a penguin in this game (glacier coast). At around min 12:25 it appears below the surface
It only appears if you come in first in every race. That's also what causes the dolphins and orcas to appear in Southern Island.
Ken Hollis lol. I always saw them, I guess I was good back then
I always get nest align when the announcer goes "BANZAI!!!"

That just brought back a ton of memories...or maybe I just high as fugg!!
13:45 my draw dropped lol. What a win!
Added bonus of cutting off the announcer while he was in the middle of saying, "You're in second."
Anyone ever like riding the dolphin?
0:36 MAXIMUM POWERR!

Nice last second win on cool wave
No one going to comment about the turtle that's swimming faster than a Cheetah? 😂
Where?
I hope nintendo will continue the series on switch. With the same control Feeling and water effects...still the best Feeling of water in a game!
still looks good
Great game :)
7:23 Holy fuck that guy was on your ASS lol I just hear the humming like 'HMMMM HMMMM HUMMMMM' like 'LEAVE ME ALONE >:O'
Drake lake 😂😂must be filled with his tears
