I remember watching this with my sister and my dad. My dad worked 14-16 hour days almost everyday and was pretty depressed. Watching this video was one of the few memories I have of him during that time where he laughed until he cried.
6 years ago I watched this with my girlfriend and she thought I was an idiot but loved how much it made me laugh.

I mean, not really? This series was created about 5 years after AQHF and is essentially a newgrounds version of Carl as a unicorn. Similar direction and line of comedic intent. It was absolutely right smack dab in the middle of this kind of comedy blowing up, which is likely why it garnered so much attention. It did was was popular at that time, and did it really well.

My son told all his 4th grade friends about this and they were all quoting from the episodes. Then all the mom's got together and had a meeting about wether or not it was appropriate. They couldn't come to a conclusion about it. I went to the meeting. Little did all the other moms know that I was the one that showed my son all of these episodes. Today my son is a 2nd year film major and I like to think that my wierd taste in entertainment rubbed off on him.
I never realized how much inspiration they clearly took from Aqua Teen hunger force. Especially Charlie being like Carl. I love it

The Charlie The Unicorn series is actually sending the message to just do you, and don’t let what other people tell you affect up your life and your decisions. People always tell Charlie to do stuff and that his feelings are wrong, but Charlie just says “fuck you” and goes in with his life. Let us all be a little bit like Charlie.
It actually encapsulates the theme of how society treats people with depression very well. Through the whole series, Charlie is (rightfully) miserable, and everyone around him tells him it’s his own fault and he should just be happy, even as people are abusing him. The only people he encounters who don’t treat him this way are Starfish and Nyx.
