Thanks to your recommendation this is the third year I have used FTUSA and the Fed has just accepted my return. Nice to have that put out of the way. It is so convenient that my information from the previous year is remembered. I did sell a quite old mutual fund and it was easy to enter the information.

I was a bit confused as to what software I wanted to use this year. As a retired person on a fixed income, I wanted to use a program that was free, or at the very least, inexpensive. And I also wanted to make sure that I was getting a good product. I'm good to go now! Thanx for making this video. 👍

Been using turbo tax for years and after last year , I had to pay so much for upgrades and etc and now definitely considering freetax usa
If you want to compare, you could always start your taxes on both and see how it goes. None of them make you pay until you file. I hope you can save some money with FreeTaxUSA!

This is a great video. Just wondering if they work on back taxes or a complex tax situation? Or do they mainly just help you file your last year taxes?

Can you amend a past tax return on here WITHOUT having filed before with freetaxusa?
I wish you talked about refunds, and payments. I see reviews from people saying they had money skimmed from their refund. How is this possible? Do you have to provide a credit card number? Does the money go through this freetaxusa service and I know longer provide banking info directly to IRS?
They only way that would be possible is if you use their "pay with your refund" option that costs and additional $24.99 and then I believe your refund gets routed through them. If you're doing it the regular way and paying with a credit/debit card, the refund is going directly from the IRS to your bank account.
can you populate rental property information and does it easily calculate the depreciation portion of a rental property? This will be my first attempt to do this on my own as I have used HR block for the past 10 years.
I haven't used the rental property section but I know that FreeTaxUSA does do it. I do my business with it and it works well. There no harm in trying - start using it and see how it goes - there's no charge until you file state taxes. You could always double check with another software like TurboTax is you aren't feeling confident.

Hi do you know when we are able to file on FreeTaxUSA for 2023? It looks we are only able to file for 2022
2022 is the lastest one. It's what you should be filing now. You file for the tax year 2022 by April 2023.

Do u have to use state return feature.
No. If you don't have a state return, then you can skip it. Or if you do need a state return, you can just file federal through FreeTaxUSA and file your state return somewhere else. I know in Ohio, it's not too hard to file your state return directly through the State of Ohio web site, so that would be an option and totally free then!

Can I use freetaxusa on my iPhone to file taxes or should I use a desktop computer?
You can do it on a phone using the browser (there's no separate app). It works fine on a phone - I'm old and find it easier to have it big on a computer though. Haha.

can you do multiple returns with FreetaxUSA?
Do you mean multiple states for one person? Yes you can do that. Or do you mean returns for multiple people? Each person or couple would need their own account - FreeTaxUSA is not intended for tax professionals.
