Useful info. I just got a black face deluxe reverb for my brother and an ABY box with phase inversion. I wish the 2 black face channels were like the custom but the effect is the same as here obviously. Each channel uses a 12ax7 tube for the pre-amp gain stage. When you bridge them, you effectively double the gain stage from utilizing both pre-amp tubes, which produces something similar to what supro/jimmy page does with their amps. Similar sound too. The main thing with the black face amps is that Ch1 has no tremolo or reverb, but by bridging the two, you can carry tremolo and reverb to Ch1. The volume knob on the opposite channel that you have the guitar plugged into effectively becomes a gain knob. If you dive into the electronics and decipher how they work, you realize things you can do.
I may have missed it cause I was trying that out on my old Pro Reverb. But does your ABY have the phase inverter on it? Mines hoooonking, may have to make to make a custom patch cable and try that. But anyhow thanks for the cool vid man. take it easy.
I believe I mention in the video that this technique will only work on the newer custom Fender Amp because of their wiring. The OBNE switcher I was using didn’t have a phase inversion option. Thanks for watching!
Hi great vid thanks.. how much in terms of watts would you say you gain buy bridging this amp. If normal use is considered 22 watts in your opinion what would you say the wattage is bridged?
Hey thanks for watching! I don’t have the tools to measure this and it’s no longer my current rig. The only thing I can say is I remember it being the go to for lead guitar. Best of luck!
The ABY trick is most usefuil ! But what I want to mention is that it is the most load of crap Fender told us that the Custom channel is "Bassman". What a laugh. It has absolutely nothing to do with any Bassman type or sound ever made. THey only changed two values in parts versus the blackface reissue. IT's more a bit Superreverb-ish, but NOT Bassman. That circuit is totally different

You speak extremely well in front of a camera. I came upon your channel while searching for info on best way to jump the 2 sides of a CDR. Voila! 😁
I appreciate that! Thank you! New videos coming soon!

Thats cool I wanna do the exact same thing with my 76 Vibrolux
You should!

Does running the AB box cut down on gain overall. What I mean is do you have to run your channel volumes hotter than if they weren’t bridged?
If anything, when hitting both at the same time, they were much hotter, a desired effect for me at the time. Almost like a boost
Fantastic! though shortening the vid would be cool

Bassman "Tone Stack"
I mean it is a Bassman tone stack so they gave it the most important part of being a bassman.
