I actually think it could have been Jeremy. In one of his DVD specials he talked about how the fastest he driven on a normal road was in an 722 SLR.
It rolls down and it’s James May and a disappointed Hammond suddenly realizes why he was able to keep up.
This car is perfect, its looks, its simplicity, its engine, it noise in every way shape and form this is the most beautiful car ever built
This was probably the best looking Lambo ever. That engine and exhaust note is perfection. What an amazing car. The end was out of this world beautiful.

LP is Italian for Longitudinal Mounted Engine.
Love it. Need it. Gotta have it. When Lamborghini made this car, it seems that they made a bargain with God Himself to add a little slice of Heaven into the LP670-4 SV. Nothing but just pure automotive elegance.

I've always thought the Mercy has a similar sound to the Porsche Carrera GT. They're both really mechanical and fuzzy and I don't think much sounds better than either of them.

Dilip Tien Many say 2,8 and many say 3,0...also 3,2...It depends on so many thing, but since some did it in 2,8 , thats what is counting, since its the best time...If this car (example) broke the world record in 0-60 time, the best time would count and it would be in specs...Some also managed 3,2 on lp640...3,18 to be exact
Aleksandar Friscic the best one doesn't count, it's the one the occurs the most because that is what you will most likely get from the car.

SV stands for "Super Veloce" -> Super Fast
LP stands for "Longitudinale Posteriore", which means the engine is mounted longitudinally behind the cockpit.

This is one of the most beautiful cars ever built. It's just... perfect! It really is, in every way.
The LP670-4 SV and the F40 will forever stay in my heart as the truly timeless monsters. They're both levels ahead of all the other cars ever produced.

ICHDERTWEETY Indeed. Although I think both are distinct in looks, the SV is cooler because I have grown up with the Murciélago. I really love the Aventador though.
LamboFreakLP670 yeah I mean ofc I wouldn't decline an aventador either but I have to say I was a bit disappointed after its presentation. Its predecessors were very raw but without having unnecassary touches in design. The aventador isn't really "clean" anymore, but I guess that's lambos new design language which they started with the reventon, then the aventador and now the huracan :/ . I personally preferred Murcie and Gallardo. Still would happily take any of the named :D
But you're right, I also have grown up with the Murcie, 10 years ago my parents bought me a book about sportscars and as soon as I saw it, I fell in love with it. So it might just be a thing of our generation ;D

I'm guessing you mean the engine platform? Since it's basically the same V12 they have been using forever, like Porsche has done the 911 platform forever to perfection, Lamborghini has done with their flagship V12.

Same thing with the GT40. If Enzo didnt notice the clause that Ford would control the racing divisions and opted out of them purchasing Ferrari, we wouldnt have one of the best Le Mans rivalries in history.

given the Aventador had to have a new engine for emissions; it did sound remarkably good. Not as sonorously pitch perfect as the original Lambo V12 with a decent exhaust, but close.

Centenario and Veneno are specially customized Aventadors and no different cars. The Sesto Elemento is a limited produced car and thus doesn't count either.

LP - Longitudinale Posteriore in Italian. In English - Longitudinal Position. It means the V12 is mounted lengthways/ longtudinally rather than tranversely/sideways if anyone was wondering :)
Posteriore actually means rear / behind - the engine being positioned behind the driver.

And exactly how did the lambo lose against the 722?
The 722 makes 641 bhp, the Murcielago makes 661.
The 722 weighs 3850lb, the Murcielago weighs 3800lb
The 722 does 0-62 in 3.5 sec, the Murcielago does it in 3.0 sec (or 3.2 according to Hammond).
That dragrace seems staged.

When you get up to those sort of speeds, aerodynamics matter. The SV generates a lot of downforce - despite a pretty high top speed, that car is more about cornering. I doubt the 722 is as aggressive with its downforce.
And anyway, the point of that comparison wasn't which one finished a few feet ahead, it's that they were close at all, which is impressive considering A) the price difference and B) the fact that, as I mentioned, the SV isn't primarily designed as a straight-line car.
Josh Follmann according to fastestlaps the SV is faster to 200kph than the 722 and only 0,1 second slower to 300kph (fastestlaps uses verified numbers from magazine tests)
so it was staged (you can see hammond slightly lift his foot of the pedal during the race)
You're a fool. The numbers can't be perfectly replicated each time. Change in ambient air temp or even elevation, tire pressure, and a whole other assortment of things can make a difference.
You have to take into account how fast each car can change gears, how much wheelspin there is before it gets going, how well the driver can get it off the starting line, and plenty more factors listed by others above.

When he's like "200k is cheap!" he's pretty much right on, nice once's of these are 280-380 now. You could have owned it all this time and lost nothing.

This was my first glimpse of Top Gear. My cousin showed me this video in my grandma’s kitchen and it brought the cars I’d been drooling over in Motor Trend to life. Hearing the wail of that V12 gave me the chills.

I was never a Lamborghini guy... I always loved German stuff like Audi, Porsche, and Mercs. But this car, this car only made me fall in love with lambos... Brilliant sound and can't believe it has almost beaten the more expensive fast 722... Really pretty as well.

Finally someone who understands and speaks the truth like I do. It really IS possible if you want it enough and work hard. Buying a £250,000 Murcielago may be pushing it, however it is not really a 'practical' supercar and is only for the looks. My aim is the R8 and three people I know own the V8 and all tell me the same story of managing money wisely and sacrificing other wants and needs. Cars like the R8, V8 Vantage, GTR, Porsche 911, etc. Are all achievable. I eat, breathe and sleep R8 :D
SIR KILLALOT in your case if you like a specific year. You can wait a little and it'll cost less. Kinda like a Gallardo or a 360 ferrari
The "LP" designation, which has been used on Lambos since the Countach, means Longitudinale Posteriore which indicates the engine position and direction in relation to the drivetrain (longitudinally mounted, in the back). Just in case anyone is wondering lol
