I was just gonna say that I don't think this recording sounds as good as it could be. Thanks for verifying that the cast is great! I'm seeing this cast soon.
this recording doesn’t even begin to cover what this cast sounds like live, might be controversial but I think I even preferred their rendition compared to the original cast recording (which is beyond incredible). Go see it as soon as you can, they’re electric and their chemistry with each other is beyond compare!!
I agree! I just saw them perform, and I actually enjoyed this more! The emotion and connection between Orpheus and Eurydice came through so much deeper, and the Hermes was way more expressive and emotional as well, which pulled me into the story all the way!
I saw it very recently, I would also love a recording of this cast too. Levi and Kevyn were 2 of my favorites. I loved how they played as Hermes and Hades. Persephone was also great! While the Broadway Cast Recording is great, I just can't stop thinking about this cast's performance. I think the Orpheus I saw was different though. 🤔
I saw this in Boston the other night and you will not be disappointed! Levi Kreis (Hermes) steals the show. But really all of the performers are amazing.
Had the privilege of seeing this cast in Dallas this weekend! Had 0 knowledge about this until the music started, was thoroughly impressed and am so glad I got to see this!
Just saw this in Boston last weekend and it was perfection. Hermes is amazing and they could not have cast the character better! If you have a chance to see it on tour, DO IT!
I got to see this for the first time on Saturday. I had NO idea what the show was about or any song from it. Seeing this LIVE was an experience like no other! I love this tour cast so much!!
Just saw this in Philly and they are literally spectacular!!! This montage doesn’t do them justice!! Hades and Orpheus in particular have INCREDIBLE voices and the band is so amazing! Loved it!
@@rachelconsoli8428 I think this clip just doesn't do the performer justice and I'm not attached to the original cast lol. Just Liked Patrick's voice better judging by what I saw from a 30 second RUclips clip
Just saw this cast in Chicago and it was INCREDIBLE!!! I have to say I think I preferred their voices over the original Broadway cast. Wish they had a soundtrack version for this cast too
This doesn’t do the cast justice, I saw them at the Kimmel Center Saturday in Philly, and it was phenomenal, this was the same cast I saw, man they were amazing.
I just came from the April 26th show at the Ahmanson in LA and MY GODS this show is a TRIUMPH. I love how it has evolved from the Broadway production and how each and every actor makes their character completely their own. Just wow, wow, WOW!! I am in want of a recording from this cast so badly, you guys have no ideaaaaa 😭❤️
Saw the cast in LA yesterday and honestly I got chills everytime they sang. This doesn’t do the show justice but it does show how incredible the show is.
I feel sorry for the guy, and any in the future who will, who plays Hades. Patrick Page set a high bar for the roll with his deeper-than-the-abyss-like voice!
I thought the same thing. I will say that Kevyn Morrow does an amazing job making the role his own. He takes some parts up the octave, but he makes use of the lowest of lows when the moment calls for it (beginning of “Hey Little Songbird” shook me!) His Hades is very different, but equally captivating!
Saw this 2 nights ago in Memphis. Cast is phenomenal, in some ways even better than the original Broadway cast, at least to me! Hermes and Hades definitely stole the show.
Had the privilege of seeing this cast this weekend. Levi Kreis (Hermes) and Will Mann (Worker) were out, so we had Eddie Noel Rodríguez and J. Antonio Rodriguez filling in, respectively. Everyone absolutely nailed it; this video does not do the production justice. I highly advise buying tickets to see them if feasible; they will blow you away!
Watched this last night, and it was simply captivating. I didn't read the synopsis before the show, so I had no idea what I was watching. Started a little confused, but the show kept growing on me as I continued to watch. The entire cast was magnificent in their own respective ways, but Kevyn Morrow's voice and performance was masterful. I usually prefer the Broadway cast, but having not seen the Broadway cast in person (or first), I just don't know how they could have done it any better. I arrived home wanting to see it in person again. The visual presentation, the choreography, the energy just isn't captured listening to the soundtrack. This cast is a must see, and I hope I have the chance to see them again.
Just saw this cast in LA, Superb!!!!!!!! I love the original cast but these leads really made me believe they were in love. And the Tour Hermes is a HOOT
just saw this yesterday and I don't think I've ever seen a live performance this good in my life. Newsies in Chicago was close and Hamilton touring was great too, this just... shocked me how great it was.
Can’t wait to see this in a few months! I got to see the Broadway cast back in 2019 and it was amazing. It’ll be really cool to see how different it is with different actors
i saw the touring cast and i have to say i really like Nicholas as Orpheus and Levi as Hermes. i have only the cast recording and RUclips videos of the original cast to compare it to, but i think they did the roles justice!
I saw this show with a friend completely on whim knowing nothing about Hadestown and fell in love with the show as soon as it started. I was so lucky to see it with this cast because they were phenomenal! They brought so much energy and it was such a blast!
I'll hold the experience of seeing the first Hadestown touring cast in my heart forever ❤. The whole cast, the whole production, was out of this world fantastic and I love this musical to death.
with this hermes being much younger than the bway og hermes i wonder if the mentor-protagonist relationship between orpheus and hermes will still be the same or if they adjusted it a bit? it's interesting to see how they'll handle it from a storytelling perspective
In mythology, Hermes is one of the younger main gods. But that’s why the musical is fantastic. Even though it’s the same story, details and elements can change. In a way, everyone gets to tell the story the way the want.
@@jamessirot854 yes I’m aware of myth hermes being younger but I felt that the mentor role in the musical added a lot more to orpheus’s characters. I do agree with you though! the beauty of hadestown (and mythology) is that it can be interpreted and done differently every time :)
Glad to see from the comments that this cast is actually good. This video is definitely not flattering on their vocals, actually it kind of hurt me to hear.
Yeah, I agree. The sound is not HQ here. But that just means we need an official tour cast recording!!! BTW the tour cast is phenomenal; saw the show 3x last month.
How does **that** moment at the end of the show work if the entrance to Hadestown is at the back of the stage? If anybody has seen the touring production, please do let me know!
(Spoilers ahead) For those who have seen this on tour…there is still the rotating stage floor and trapdoor, right? I know it depends on the theater, but after having seen it on Broadway, I don’t think not having the trapdoor would have the same effect for the descents to Hades…just trying to mentally prepare!!
Tour viewer here! While they did have the turntable, they did not have the trapdoor/elevator. At 0:24, you can see two doors open to reveal Eurydice - these doors take the place of the elevator. I haven't seen "Doubt Comes In" with the elevator, but seeing the doors slowly close on Eurydice at the end of the song is still _extremely_ powerful.
A lot of comments saying the recording doesn’t do them justice. I hope so because that was poorly put together. My main hope is the voice is as low as the first hades. That guy tore down the hall with boom
I saw them on November 30th and this doesn't even come close to how they sounded and how great the show was. They were so much h better than these clips.
I absolutely loved this cast! I saw it in San Francisco and it was amazing. It was my first time going to something like that alone, especially in the city as a 17 year old. I actually regret not bringing someone to watch this with me. Not that I don't love listening to the Original Broadway Cast Recording over and over again on Spotify but I wish that there was a recording of the tour cast that I saw.
