It’s funny because it looks like they’re wearing their normal mics. It’s also possible they’re plugged into belt packs from GMA rather than their own so they work with whatever wireless system GMA has. Also, I think for performances like this, the sound engineer at GMA mixes it, rather than the normal sound mixer for the show, which explains some of the dropped lines. Their mixer is a professional but has likely only heard the song once or twice during rehearsals, so they’re trying to keep up.

I love that we finally get to see what Orpheus & Eurydice are doing during WDH !! The twirling each other and Orphy picking 'Rydice up in a spin was just heart-melting 💕💕💕 Also - the Fates circling Orpheus like sharks while they're singing is so intimidating and ominous. I love it.
i love how the workers used their mics as the spotlights since they obviously wouldn't rig them up in such a small space for a short time; that little change looked cool as someone who's had to change out certain props depended on the venue
I need to have a word with the person who is responsible for the televised live performances. Neither this nor the Tonys performance do the show justice.

tbh, i think when they’re doing special performances like these, they should choose a song that shows each of the character’s singing talents. like chant. we get a bit of hades, persephone, eurydice, orpheus and hermes. and the workers too,
i agree with you 100% however the staging for chant is really complex with how persephone and hades are on different levels compared to the workers and the other cast members and it’ll be hard to recreate on a small stage setting like the GMA set
I'm the biggest fan of this show (flew in from MN to see it tonight!)...and I just wish they wouldn't use these songs for TV spots. Out of context and without the support of a fuller telling of the story... it doesn't show the majesty of this company. I would much rather see a solo or duet that invites audiences to see more.
