Still so handsome at that age. And beautiful with his vulnurable and emotional melancholic way of performing his own song. This clip touches me so much up to the point I could cry from pure melancholy. On Soul level. It's a really deep feeling...
Burt still has that magic, the vulnerabiliity, the humanity, the innocence so indispensable for creating anything of enduring beauty. Keep on smiling Burt! I have and always will love your songs and your optimistic mindset.
It’s so funny, that thought doesn’t enter my mind very often, but for Burt, yes, I hope he will be with us forever...just saw him in LA last week and he’s still going strong.
I am a 71 y.o. Russian, and I fell in love with this song when I heard it 50+ years ago with trumpet of Herb Alpert. And it is funny that I have found out the name of the author just a month ago. And "Close To You" is one of my favorite songs too, and I was very surprised when month ago I discovered that this song is by Bacharach too, not by Carpenters. He's a great composer. Long live to you Burt!
He is still so handsome. Love all his music, he is a gifted genius and there are so few of them nowadays. Even his siinging voice is unique, I love it, so intimate.
Such a gifted genius, his music and songs are beautiful. There aren't any composers who write melodious and sweet music like him. Since I was a child I have always liked his singing voice and now that I am a grown up I find it comfortable and intimate and I love it.
NOMINATE MR. BACHARACH FOR A KENNEDY CENTER HONOR FOR ACHIEVEMENT ACHIEVEMENT IN THE ARTS Mr. Bacharach is probably the greatest composer of popular song of his generation that still touches every generation and is still going strong at 91. Saw his recent performance in Los Angeles to a packed house of adoring fans sending so much love back and forth across the footlights. This man is a genius and has received ever imaginable accolade except one. . Please join me and engage others in recommending Burt for The Kennedy Center Honors for achievement in the arts, which can be made on their official web site. It would be an honor well deserved and one to define his prolific contributions to the American Songbook.
Honestly, I can't believe he hasn't received this honor yet. I just nominated him. His music is synonymous with American culture of the latter 20th century. I can't tell you how many times I've heard his music in airports and on commercials. It's ubiquitous.
RIP, Burt. The magic will live on. You’re in our hearts. This is my most favorite performance of yours: you’ve shown your most vulnerable, soft yet comfortable side in your artistry. Living or in the next life, you will always have the charm that only you and your music can convey. I may only be 29 but I feel like I’ve been listening to you since forever.
Steve Heywood Just saw him in concert to a packed house in Los Angeles last week. This man is still going strong! You can’t appreciate his genius until you’re hearing medley after medley of so many of his songs for over two hours without a break and then realize there are dozens more that still remain! Genius!
I have loved him since I was 10 years old. My dad and I used to listen to his music together.....45 years ago. My 13-year old plays the trumpet and loves BB music. He plays NIkki and I feel like my dad lives in him through Mr. Bacharach's music. Dear Mr. Bacharach, you are a very important part of my memories with my dad.....Your music will live forever.
Thank you Burt Bacharach you touched a million hearts and lives the way you give life to music ...how it inspired people froam all walks of life!!! To tell you Im so much honored to have your song played THIS GUY'S IN LOVE WITH YOU..(I loved best your composition and rendition of the song by Herb Alpert and Spiral staircase) on on my wedding day reception in the Spanish walls of Intramuros Manila at Casa Teatrillo when me and my hubby's videos were played on a projector. .....
Woo. The phrasing. Totally beautiful. Wish we had a pure Burt solo concert somewhere, playing quietly like this. Burt, just do a tour, or even one concert, like this.
I love you Mr. Burt Bacharach, I will always incorporate a bit of you in my songs becasue you are the largest influence in my whole life, I am 48 years old now, I wish I had of been born earlier, I could have had way more exposure, but perhaps I have caught up, I am shy about singing but dionne warwick helped me learn to listen to voices oh what you , dionne warwick, and hal david have done for this world, I love you all, forever
Musical Genius!! His ability to move people with his compositions is unsurpassed. Laugh, cry, smile. You can't ask for more!! Thanks for the wonderful feelings!!!
This has got to be one of my favourite Burt Bacharach songs. I remember sitting in the car of my grandparents when we were children and listening to Burt's music played by Dionne Warwick. And other artists. Such a lot of great music came from Burt and his associates. We were sitting in a 1963 ford falcon what model was that? Thats when there was little traffic on the road when you went for a drive.A sunday drive meant a sunday drive no hurry not like these days everyone is in a hurry everyday.
I’ve seen Burt on stage for years, I’ve taken my parents, my kids and now my grandkids and I’m glad we can play Burts music and all sing along. I always see him when he’s in the UK. 👍👍👍 his music is timeless.
I’ve adored listening, playing and singing to every song the maestro has written. He captures every element of the human condition so perfectly … haunting chords to die for. Thank you Burt (and Hal).
Hurt Bachuret is the consummate musician with a vulnerability that oozes in his music. Being single for yrs., I don't listen to love songs anymore, but a friend from Germany mailed this performance. He is amazing & his music brings back some very good feelings I've kept buried. Thanks Hurt.
Let me extend a heartfelt "Thank You, Burt!" on behalf of our American people for your IMMENSE contribution, as God's tonal blessing upon us. You are indeed a "NATIONAL TREASURE". Your "Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid" album is a masterpiece back in 1969 at Ohio State University. Amazing to think, you were given the ultimate choice to give up on piano lesson at your parents' dismay, and then you chose to persevere on your own volition when there was no coercion. Old age humbles the heart in repentance for the several things we wish could erase and do differently, yet rejoice for all the wonderful relationships and blessings we shared with others. May the blessings of our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, be upon you and your family as you leave this house for your eternal home. THANK YOU, BURT BACHARACH!
Dearest Burt, My sweet love, I already miss your soul on this planet. You are with the source of your genius and singing in heaven for us...R.I.P. You were so kind and sweet to me, I will always love you almost as much as I cherish your music. You were so special and also a true gentleman, always in my heart, Mr. Bacharach. Diplomat Hotel 1980 Gina
Rest In Peace, Burt. My luminous mother Kathy, a soprano, sang and played your songs. I grew up with these songs as my soundtrack, the backdrop to teen years falling in love, losing in love, hoping for love. Play with the angels.
Aaahhh.....that was very nice. When I was a kid and watched his specials on TV he always had Dionne with, I didn't want him to sing then.....I just wanted to listen to her! :-)
I adore every movie score, every time i even hear the first 2 notes I know it is Mr. Bacharach, wow i wish he would give a master class, that for me would be like giving me all the knowledge of piano chords and now that i write music a bit i always seem to sound a bit like Burt, hmm he makes music still listen able, and even when he sings i can feel the emotion, i hear he is a perfectionist, yes yes yes, that is how we learn music, what a beautiful man, what a beautiful spirit
mr bacharach, i lve listened to many of ur songs, since i was a teenager, ialways was caught by this beautiful music, u are such and artist, i had the chance to buy the hal david and burt bacharach concert CD ( royal albert hall) and its a great achievement thank u for ur music, perfect, clear, romantic, etcccc
