Technically he was right. He just cared more about his own ambitions rather than those of the realm. If Otto remained loyal to house Targaryen, the crown would’ve had the best hand in the history of Westeros. But ig not everyone is perfect. I blame Otto’s elder brother for how he behaved. It was all Otto from the start. He was the second. Had no power through birth. He saw a chance to stay Hand of the King forever, he took it. Hightowers were bound to support their blood. Otto's ambition also gave them a lot of power.

The fact that the houses who went against Rhaenyra are literally just shitty houses is so funny. Like, the entirety of the greens’ army is made up of house Lannister who was a scorned lover, house Baratheon who just wanted husbands for his daughters, and the hightowers who wanted to steal the throne. At least the blacks know something about loyalty.
The queen of the Blacks made bastards then used them against her own family to force the navy to act for her. Literally everyone in the life of Rhynera had to serve or die including family. Daemon is literally Daemon he has no loyalty to anyone but himself. Dude wanted his brother's affection so much he had fought multiple wars killing innocent people to fight for attention. When that didn't work he was rebellious by undermining his brother and trying to become his own king and tried to steal a dragon for his mistress. Dude then married and murdered a woman to steal her title before insulting his brother the king again by ruining the honor of the princess his own niece to get to the throne. When that doesn't work he marries his teen cousin and plants with her to have an heir on the throne but his desire to complete his plan with a son kills her. Once she's dead and gone he murders his brother inlaw and bangs his niece to get back to the same throne and threatened to murder her if she didn't fight to put herself and by extension him and his son's on the throne. The king of the black murdered his wife for his son then lied to the realm about wanting a male heir so he could bang some girl his daughter's age. Green or Black they are all incestuous dishonest monsters.

Oh and green does not symbolize war, it's just the color of House Hightower. So Alicent wore her House color instead of the Red and Black of House Targaryen. Like how Cersei wears red and gold most of the time.

The hightowers survived, they control Oldtown still and are extremely wealthy and respected. Gerald Hightower was the Captain of the Kingsguard under the mad king, commanding Arthur Dayne, Llewyn Martell, Jaime Lannister, Oswell Whent and Barristan Selmy. Perhaps the finest Kingsguard ever assembled. One of the best swordfighters in westerosi history.

Viserys is the one to blame naming Rhaenyra over Daemon mistake 1. Mistake 2 was getting remarried. Mistake 3 was remarriage to alicent and not the Velayrons. Mistake 4 not being more involved in the upbringing of his children and grandchildren. Mistake 5 keeping Rhaenyra as heir after all the bastards or at least not reprimanding her for the first one. Mistake 5 not sending breakbones to the wall for dishonoring house strong, Velayron and Targaryen. Mistake 6 not punishing Lucerys for Aemond as animosity built due to a lack of justice and favoritism. Mistake 7 not placing a reliable council when his health starting deteriorating. Mistake 8 keeping Daemon anywhere close to the throne for as long as he lives Daemon wanted more power. Daemon would’ve started a war if none happened and he would’ve killed anyone ahead of his sons in the line of succession.
