Avdiivka is Bakhmut 2.0. Even NYT noticed in desperation: "Some American officials say the fight in Bakhmut has become something of an obsession for Mr. Zelensky and his military leaders." Bakhmut was a slaughter which was entirely Zelenskyy folly as Stalingrad was entirely Hitler's folly. Zelenskyy just for media hype wasted on average 500 troops daily (total tally was at least 51 000 KIA) in Bakhmut meat grinder even when all escape routes came under Russian fire control and this debacle turned into a sheer slaughter of Ukrainian troops. But obsessed with Bakhmut Zelenskyy didn't stop even at that. Since May 20 when Russians took Bakhmut General Syrsky (Zelenskyy minion) launched wave after wave of suicidal counterattacks failing to retake a single village near Bakhmut (parts of villages Andriivka and Kleshiivka are still controlled by Russians and it's driving Zelenskyy nuts) while wasting thousands upon thousands of hapless Ukrainian conscripts. This ongoing obsessive lunacy that makes zero military sense is simply astounding . Avdiivka is another Zelenskyy obsession. Russians established fire control over all escape routes from Avdiivka. At this point it turned into a slaughter of Ukrainian troops which are sent to Avdiivka in huge numbers (yeah, Zelenskyy and his minions are that dumb even after Bakhmut debacle). Dnipro crossings are another example of Zelenskyy lunatic behavior. Just for media hype Ukrainian command got Ukrainian troops into a small fire sack on Russian bank. It keeps sending troops into this meat grinder without even bothering with the evacuation of the wounded. It's nuts . Zelenskyy is the gift that keeps on giving for Russians.

For a war of attrition to be profitable for the Russians, ukrainian losses must be at least equal to theirs. But the ukrainian losses are catastrophic! So why do you say that the Russians are sending men to their deaths and do you forget to say that Kyiv is sacrificing as many lives or more?
No not at all Russia's fighting on the offense while Ukraine is fighting on uphill fortified positions. Not to mention the amount of training russia gives it's troops is entirely inadequate especially compared to Ukraine.

“Ukraine is on the path to authoritarianism,” the Mayor of Kiev Vitaly Klitschko has said. “There is only one independent institution left -local authorities- and they are under enormous pressure.”During the conflict, the central government has been communicating poorly, if at all, with local authorities, the mayor of the Ukrainian capital claimed.“In a year and a half since the beginning of the conflict with Russia, there has not been a single meeting or telephone conversation between [the city of] Kiev and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. At some point, we will get to the situation where everything depends on the mood of a single person,” Klitschko told Der Spiegel. Ukraine wont get thru this winter....its had it...

According to BBC (Mediazona) total Russian losses by now are 37 000 KIA ( obituaries, social media records, new graves). Yeah, it's really staggering 37 000 Russian KIA and 500 000 Ukrainian KIA. The war of attrition is effectively lost by Ukraine. Anybody can go and see for himself.

@@04dave0 37 000 Russian KIA is a number based on BBC research with verifiable methodology (obituaries, social media records, new graves). Everything else is just a war propaganda. 500 000 Ukrainian KIA (in fact 507 000) = a number of new graves - a number of new graves for the period with a regular death rate - a number of killed civilians according to UN + a number of MIA - a number of POW.

Very misleading report from WSJ
You naiIed it.
The Western spectators can't agree with you. They can't imagine that their pet project which cost hundreds of billions of dollars is going to waste. And with this loss, their ego is battered and prestige lost. Like Hitler couldn't countenance a Soviet win, Biden can't countenance a Russian win. Yet, the facts speak for themselves. Putin has won and Biden has lost.

KIEV'S WAR CRIMES
"Canadian journalist accused Kiev of genocide of Donbass residents
The Ukrainian leadership is committing genocide against the residents of Donbass, so representatives of the Kiev authorities should be held accountable for war crimes. This was announced on Saturday, December 17, by Canadian journalist Eva Bartlett, who is currently on the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic.
"My colleagues and I are documenting Ukraine's crimes against the civilians of Donbass in order to bring Ukraine to justice for these numerous war crimes in an ideal situation," Bartlett said.
She also expressed hope that she and like-minded people will be able to change the discourse so that the decisions of the Ukrainian government "are not whitewashed."
The journalist admitted that more than once she witnessed the shelling of Donetsk, where civilians were killed. In addition, she noted that since the beginning of the special military operation on the territory of Donbass, more than 4.5 thousand civilians have been killed, reports [Russian news agency] tass.
Prior to that, the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia, reported on the mass repressions of the Ukrainian military against the civilian population, which are carried out on the right bank of the Dnieper.
According to the diplomat, the representative of the Ukrainian authorities, Galina Lugovaya, "warned in advance" that the Armed Forces of Ukraine would "shoot traitors like dogs."
