Right!! As a horse owner/lover I have to say I have NEVER seen a game put such amount of detail on horses. I wish you could change the horseshoe and brush their teeth/hair. I would love it if they would show how hard it is to keep a horse in the third one when it comes out.

@@hsssbjejew764 It's not about the game being slow. If anything, I would have loved it if the game actually stuck to it
I would fully be down for a Wild West Simulator + Sandbox + RPG experience all in one. The problem is that the game doesn’t really commit to it. It feels torn between trying to be this action shooter, Outlaw RPG and Sandbox. As a result, the added realism and animations feel like surface details ballooned out at times rather than core systems. Let me give you an example, Imagine you’re playing a Simulator Racing Game. You have to manually buy the parts, open the doors of your car, get in, turn on the engine etc. Basically, when you’re not driving it, it feels as authentic as you can get. When you start a race, everything appears fine,
car physics and handling is spot on, until you get to a corner and suddenly the game turns into Asphalt 9. Your car starts drifting and 360-ing like nobody’s business. You’d feel shocked right? You bought a simulator that’s fine simulating stuff until gameplay starts to get serious where it removes everything the simulation aspects were building towards. There’s no option to disable that and have a realistic race. You wonder why this game calls itself a simulator when such an important part isn’t realistic or even close to it. The purpose of simulator games is to give you that fine control that exists in real life scenarios so you can use your real life knowledge to succeed. A driving sim requires knowledge of real life racing techniques to succeed. You can fine tune cars based on what you know should help that does help.
In RDR2’s case, The game is fine making Arthur slowly walk in camp or take his time looting bodies, but in combat, your weapons become lazer accurate with no recoil. Your Hunger and Stamina meters can be ignored and have no real requirements (you can go days without eating or sleeping to no serious detriment). When you select “set up a camp” you teleport to clearing and automatically set up camp with no effort. That last one is something particular I want to mention. Suppose it is raining in- game and you want to set up camp. In RDR2, you just select “Set up camp” and it doesn’t matter if it’s raining or in the opening, Arthur will teleport into a clearing, you don’t have to protect your fire or anything. In contrast, in Breath of the Wild, you need to create shelter for your campfire if it’s raining. You can do so by setting it in a cave or by knocking over a large tree or object and making a shelter from it. If you don’t have a fire weapon to set wood on fire, you can put flint next to your wood and strike it to make a spark and make a campfire. BOTW’s mechanics naturally allow you to do what RDR2 says it’s trying to do. If the goal is to create a realistic world that the player can interact with and manipulate based on a consistent set of logic and mechanics, then RDR2 fails at that when it either bypasses or ignores the actual interaction and challenge. You know those franchises that get an entry that plays nothing like past entries and only has superficial lip service and visuals as it’s only link to the franchise? That’s how RDR2 feels but for realism. It looks realistic but isn’t when it matters when it’s time for gameplay. There’s no survival mode like Fallout 4’s to make the survival gameplay work while leaving an option for casual players who just want a chill time. There’s no serious and realistic aiming and combat encounters (or even the option) that force the player to learn and adapt. It makes the system feel odd. Like, if you’re willing go gimp combat to not make it not fun, why not extent that to other stuff like the animations? A word on the overly long animations, Even ignoring everything I said before and assuming their purpose is to sell the realism of the setting, they’re not engaging from a gameplay sense because the player isn’t really in control. In Zelda, if you press A to pick up something, Link gets it instantly so you can move on. But in RDR2, Pressing Square Means that Arthur takes control, slowly walks his way towards a body or container, opens it and manually picks up each item and puts it in his pocket. You’re not playing the game at that point. You’re watching an unskippable cutscene as opposed to interacting with the world."
TL;DR RDR2's gameplay doesn't know what it wants to be. It's torn between wanting to be a straightforward Naughty Dog style linear action shooter, an open-world sandbox and a Wild West Simulator. The Sim stuff suffers because it's all cosmetic except for combat which suddenly plays like a regular shooter (hitscan weapons, no malfunctions etc) and how it ignores survival stuff which makes it feel arbitrary. It's like a Sim Racer that lets you manually do everything realistically except when you get to corners and it goes full Asphalt style drifting. It defeats the point of it being realistic in the first place. The open-world sandbox suffers because missions and approaches are so linear that there's often only one way to play despite the game giving you so many tools. And the Action parts suffer because they're slowed down by the attempts at being a sim that only sometimes come into play.I feel the game would be better if it just picked one or 2 of these things and stuck with it. Either be a linear Action Shooter with sim stuff where appropriate (see MGS3), or a linear action shooter with some sandbox stuff (see GTA) or an Open Sandbox and Sim (Breath of the Wild does a much better job here).

@@Aro_94 gtav was one of most expensive games ever idk if top 1 or top 15 but its there so money is a thing.
@@xxcorvoxxx_x1959 @CaptnAro Just to clarify. Rockstar Games produces high quality and detailed games, and that's the reason examples like rdr2 takes 8 years to make.
Sadly, TakeTwo owns Rockstar, and this company just cares about investors and money, which is why GTA Online turned out to be so different as it was in 2013. After Doomsday Heist on December 2017 everything went completely unrealistic.
I'm kinda scared about what will happen to GTA 6, because many important people (who were working there since GTA 1), after TakeTwo's demands, resigned.
Hopefully the script was still ready before Dan Houser left, but I really hope the game is not rushed.
i like how RDR2 is better in everything than any other games at this point. It's the true game of the decade
RDR2 is what the open world genre should be. While it has a lot of map points for quests, the map isn't riddled with it. It's not a game where you just try to clear a district and you move on to the next. This game made you explore the map without making you tired of it. Ubisoft has that annoying problem. Cyberpunk promised for an open world that is different but felt a lot of times as a ubisoft game. RDR2 just hit it out of the ballpark. Graphics, mission design, open world, story. It really is such a great game

@Raul Victor Right my fault for riding a horse in the wilderness. Everybody knows horses natural habitat is on roads. It's where they're born and raised since their creation!!
Plenty of other games with horse riding are capable of having the horse actually understand to jump over fences or dodge trees. If your horse IRL runs head first into a tree because you didn't nudge it otherwise, your horse needs mental help. The game's horse riding is average because in aspects like that, it's actual garbage.

I am assassin's Creed fan(upto origins at least). This video proves that while assassin's Creed shows real time beauty, movements and mechanics to be better, RDR2 goes far beyond it and maintains it's subtlety throughout. Best example is the one with arrows on trees. Mysteries, curiosity, how the story is narrated, RDR2 takes it all. To me, Assassin's Creed is a game with huge potential, while RDR2 is a game that broke past it's limit of potential and went beyond. A prime example how action adventure games should be.
